Imperial Fusion: The Ascendancy of the Franco-British Union (Cold war WIP)

what kind of stand union take towards Soviet Union as without France and Britain soviet have immense power both in population and resources. There command and control is more unified the this time line United States and union can muster as there is a lot more distrust and no unified command

Union have to see communism as a lot bigger threat then capatilism as there very essence of power is directly threaten by them ( remember imperial Japan harbor a lot of fear towards soviet Russian)

Quite interesting wip you have here. Really unique

The union is opposed to the soviets, but more in the middle east and africa than in europe.

The us is also more opposed to the soviets than they are to the Franco-British Union. While america rejects imperialism, the red scare and korean war still happened. They may not like France and and the UK but they oppose the Soviets more.

so is it a three way cold war or union and United States have a sort of unspoken alliances like allies in World War II.

In cold war United States and Soviet Union in our time line kinda equally match both in population and industrial output and both control roughly equal spare of influence, so how do soviet union become more bolder as they are the top dog as United States was in your time line ( dollars become the defacto global currency because both France and Britain both accepted it as a reality) .

Definitely a three way cold war. While the US is more afraid of the soviets, they have zero interest in supporting colonialism.

And obviously the other colonial powers are firmly in France and the UK’s sphere of influence, apart from spain, still a pariah state.

So the switches from 2nd to 1st person are jarring

And there’s a whole bunch of paragraphs dedicated to telling the player what they think and believe. That could use some streamlining.

Also, seeing ā€œFranco British Unionā€ said 4-5 times in two paragraphs kinda annoys me for some reason. I don’t know whats up with that. Maybe it could just be the FBU or something idk. Even the president and congress don’t say ā€œUnited States of Americaā€ when ā€œThe USā€ works unless it’s a very official document or some such.

BTW why does Fr**ce get top billing

Yeah im in the process of rewriting those chapters. I was intoxicated when I wrote some of them.

As to why France gets top billing, who knows. It was the official name and i’m loathe to change it.

Update 1.2

Added 5 new chapters for the pro colonial path
Added new stat ā€œMilitancyā€

Franco British Troops in Sudan

sudan
ā€œThe Sudan crisis has made apparent the end of European imperialism - unnamed US officialā€
ā€œWith Honor and Chemical weapons this crisis can come to a close - unnamed British officialā€

Apologies for the slow updates, I recently started a new job, they will come much faster now that things have settled.

Also an FYI, anyone who is disturbed by scenes of chemical weapons shouldn’t read the last few chapters.

You seem like really inteligent person who works with historical materialism rather than idealism. I will totally play this game

Also will you be exploring other countries because a problem I see in alt history is that you have a resurgent roman empire but everything else stays the same like the only thing changing was the target country

Things have certainly changed in the rest of the world.

The US is annoyed at France and the UK, not to the point of funding rebellions but certainly cold relations.

The Soviets are a far bigger threat, funding the sudan crisis and kenya rebellion. The Soviets couldn’t be happier upon hearing about the Franco British Union. It gives them a easy way to expand their influence by arming native uprisings.

Rest of europe with the exception of germany, greece, and norway are still allied to the US. Spain are still neutral due to being a international pariah state but have much closer relations with Franco Britain than the US. Greece and turkey are US aligned, Austria are neutral.

Portugal are the closest allies.

I’m in the midst of the romance option. It will be with a French female diplomat.

Note that romance is not the main focus. but will be present.

The focus of this story has always been on lore and background information. Alt history demands I flesh out the world to the best of my ability, I have been spending time reading novels and watching the documentary ā€œAfrica blood and gutsā€ a great documentary worth watching. Completely changed my view on decolonization

Native Colonial troops in Algeria

New update coming in a few days
Also because I have been asked this a few times, Nukes will not feature. Despite this being a fear of the US irl, having the colonial powers use nukes on their colonies goes into the realm of fantasy, not alt history.

But what about the issue of the Cold War and nuclear intimidation?

I could see the potential for a ā€œcanadian missile crisisā€ with canada hosting Franco-British nukes thus angering the Americans.

But use of nukes on native rebels would never happen.

More than likely MC will be working towards getting USA support in there favor ( by virtue of not having multiple communist countries),USA will be reluctant by its better than handing more power to the USSR. There will be some serious deals USA will impose on the union.

Not to mention most if not all of the colonies are going to have revolt and massive civil riots or out right unrest is guarante over time as people prosses trauma from both world wars and many people unwilling to die for a cause they do not believe in at all. Not to mention declined birth rate will put last nail in the coffin, Europe was able to colonize and wage war because of it vast and ever growing demographic and need for more resources.
