What’s the status of Algeria? Will the OAS serve as a sort of group against the Franco-British Union, given they’re ultranationalists?

The OAS fought the french irl to stop Algeria becoming independent, at the moment in this alt history they have zero reason to fight because the union is taking a far more pro colonial stance.
However in the “decolonization” path they will certainly pop up and start attacks.

Land reform, investment and centralization of power.
Keep in mind it will be easier short term to rule via force of arms and not everyone will want to change the way the empire runs.

I actually was originally planning to let you pick more than one nationality, but I discovered it would have been too difficult to write. Game would have needed to be 3 or 4 times as long.

ok looking at the poll it seems like everyone wants to bring civilization to africa. I’m more interested in writing the pro colonial route anyway.

Sounds interesting, but really Franco-British Union forming should be a response to USA and USSR remaining close allies. Which was an actual historical possibility.

The franco-british union was actually proposed in real life by the french right after the Suez crisis (or in an alternate france was willing to become a commonwealth nation)
Eden rejected it because he wasn’t sure how popular it would be (and he possibly began to see that the age of european imperialism was coming to an end)

Upon concluding his conversation with President Eisenhower, Anthony Eden was confronted with an unyielding demand. The US President’s insistence reverberated through the receiver, echoing his call for an immediate withdrawal of both France and Britain from the Suez. The President’s rationale, “The Suez Canal is not worth driving the Middle East into the hands of the Soviets,” struck a nerve, stirring a simmering fury within Eden.
As the weight of the remark settled, a surge of indignation coursed through Eden’s thoughts. How could Eisenhower presume to dictate what held worth for their nations and their French counterparts? The audacity of such imposition ignited a spark of resentment within him. He mused to himself, “How dare he attempt to determine our path?”
Amidst the mounting frustration, Eden acknowledged the American perspective, which seemed complacent in witnessing their colonies unravel and decay. However, within him stirred a resolute rejection of such a fate. The responsibility to confront dictators like Nasser and the looming communist threat now rested upon their shoulders.
He was aware the americans saw the British Empire as nothing more than a crumbling relic, Eden’s conviction ran deeper. The empire had once spread enlightenment and civilization to the farthest reaches of the globe. The memory of Churchill’s promise that the sun would never set on their dominion remained etched in his mind. He solidified his stance, resolved not to be complicit in its dismantling, steadfastly guarding against it under his vigilant watch.
“Perhaps we and the French will have to chart our own course” he thought to himself

Finally game that not settling on medieval or modern magical. I don’t hate the genre it just the the theme of the game getting stagnant so i really grateful seeing something like this. Hope to see this completed someday. Stay healthy
