Wayhaven definitely could be an example for all authors to follow when it comes to romance. When I romanced M or A I could play it so that my MC didn’t even like them at first only found them physically attractive, she even argued with them sometimes and at the end they still ended up as a couple. Now how many games would allow this without locking that romance route.
I agree with @Fay too. Keeper of the Sun and Moon is another example for well done romances. I liked how you could reject Astrid when she asks out the MC kinda early in the game, and then still be able to ask her out later once you get to know her better.
