Personally, I enjoy the challenge of coming up with an idea, creating the world and framework for it, and doing the hard work of seeing it through. The most difficult part for me is finishing what I start. I have several brilliant projects sitting half-done in a folder. I keep picking them back up, though, so eventually I’m bound to finish them.
I’m trying to get better at my weakness, finishing what I start (which is related to my perfectionism) and recognizing and being grateful that there are a lot of problems with writing that I don’t have. I’m creative, I’m gifted with languages and good with grammar, I deal fairly well with writer’s block, I like challenges and solving problems, I enjoy hard work. Everyone has their setbacks, but mine aren’t as bad as they could be.

I love writing, but since it’s a hobby, I don’t get too stressed about writing, and I can write anythibg I won’t. Like a romance that turns into a sci-fi where aliens kill everyone. Or where in an action film people wake up and it’s all a dream (nah hate that cliché)
But it’s not difficult to write a story, it’s difficult to both have a good story and not to give in- if you get stuck dont choose a random idea that pops into your head (unless you need to make it quick as a career, try not to sacrifice plot) and to keep writing.
I write really ( well, normally really) good short stories, but the more pages I have to write, the quality drops, ever so slightly till it’s a blob of cliches and predictability. Only write as much as you want, and then you’ll want to write ( and everyone else will want to read what you’ve written)
But writing novels are awesome, if you’ve got good ideas!

My problem as a writer, now that I’m getting older, is that the world(s) my stories take place in have to make sense. When I was a wee lad, I used to be able to crank out pages and pages of writing like no tomorrow, but I also didn’t ever really have a clear plan as to where they were all going. Thus, while I did crank out quite a few finished (but undeniably terrible) stories, I’ve also ran stories right into the ground due to lack of direction. I basically have the exact opposite problem now. I spend all my time planning an never are able to get to a point where I can write something.
One thing I have decided as a writer though, is to not get bogged down in thinking things like “this will never get publish, it’s not original enough!” and things like that. I write for myself more then anyone, and if others enjoy it, then that’s a bonus.
