Cyberpolice (Minor Update: 9th of November 2024) (WIP)

The part where the player enable their body parts don’t work.

Hey now! Calm down, there could be children watching

:joy:

Could you be more specific? It works normally for me so I’m unsure where the problem is.

How does it not work for you? Does it not change them? Do they not “appear” in the descriptions afterwards? What’s exactly the problem(as specifically as possible without using adult terms :stuck_out_tongue: )

Wait, I forgot I saved mid character creation before the update so the censorship level didn’t show up. I restart everything and then it works fine.

Mari’s scene was much better than previous version. Got to know a lot about her, is she planned to be a RO, becuase it’s criminal to have us know so much about her life and not make a route with her

The scene awakened something in me… :flushed::hot_face::face_with_peeking_eye:

Deadline for current update: Complete Stillwater one night stand by end of March(explicit stuff included)
Deadline for the rest in this segment: Varies. April.

Here’s the adult-forum subthread: (use it for all comments on the explicit stuff)
https://forum.choiceofgames.com/t/wip-cyberpolice-adult-forum-subthread/151001

I was supposed to write a lot more there, but I’ve forgotten a bunch of it. Nothing too important I’m sure, the more important thing is to get feedback in the form of polls and especially written comments by you, my readers. Whether it’s criticism or praise, or just requests for what the Stillwater, Mouse, and Carrington should include(explicit content wise), it’s all good.

I won’t be posting much in that thread myself, so feel free to use it as a general discussion platform for the adult content in the game. I know some people are intimidated by my daily posts here, so there’s no need to fear that there.

Anyway, now that I’m over my anxieties with the explicit stuff, I hope things will be faster again. It sure was a lot of fear and insecurity I had to face during the last two months, that’s for certain. Don’t let that deter you from making negative comments if it’s warranted. It’s more important that I know if something is bad than to protect my ego, since otherwise I’ll pay the price after release due to negative reviews etc.

Sucks wasting more or less two months for almost nothing. Most of it was already done by January, at least the “broad strokes”. Admittedly I did add a lot of super specific content during that time that you may never run into(but can be a curiosity if you like to check the raw code and such). Anyway, time to move on now.

It might be optimistic to think that I’ll have the Stillwater stuff ready by the end of March. (Well, we know it is, but I need the deadline  ).

I’m aiming for 20,000 words for it for the main contents, and 10-20k for the explicit stuff maybe. No more than that anyway. It’ll depend how much of it I can steal/remake from the Mari Badr stuff. (or if the explicit stuff is SUPER popular I guess I’ll be compelled to do the same for the others. Still, it’s a lot of work for something that’s not at all plot related and thus not really my cup of tea. )

Same will be true for the Mouse and Carrington stuff. The idea is that you see these three all through the game, but Mari only here, so she needs more screentime in the one-night stand compared to the others.

Funny that the Mari Badr stuff will be the largest word count wise, since ironically the Mari Badr stuff was never meant to be in the first place as Bailey was the original 2nd female RO, that changed only due to a poll.

Oh? Do you mean the January version or the November version? I don’t think I added all THAT much stuff about Mari herself in the version I just posted yesterday. Just some minor additions and changes, nothing that should change your opinion that much. Well, at least from the point of the view of the author, which is admittedly VERY different from a reader.

What do you specifically mean by RO and route? She’s clearly a romantic interest, hence the one night stand, and tehcnically this IS her route to a degree. She will have maybe a scene or two besides this, plus a whole lot of variant scenes on the actual plot depending on stuff, and perhaps after credits scenes if things go a certain way.

So, I’m not sure if she’s an RO or has a route by your standards. This is most of the romantic/adult content concerning her in any case.(but not all)

Hope it’s positive emotions rather than rage. :rage:

This was certainly more explicit than I expected but you did a good job, especially considering this is your first time writing content of such nature.

I have a couple of minor suggestions that immediately came to my mind when I was reading the new update. At one point Mari asks to carry her and MC complies but I feel like characters that are physically weak should not be able to do it. Or at least the characters that have a combination of weak muscles, short height, and (maybe) light weight. Another suggestion is that it would be nice to be able to express in dialogue whether MC is experienced or not. And the final one is that maybe making terms that partners use for MC specific to each partner and based on their personality and preferences would be more immersive than the player choosing them.

I am curious if any of the other character will have scenes that are more on a romantic side compared to Mari’s scene.

Hello there, it’s been a while since I was here.
I actually wanted to replay the demo now because it’s been a long time but seeing how this will be coming sooner or later

I might wait until then😳

Or maybe I still play and play again after the update, I love Stillwater Cyberpolice🥰

Haven’t started the rewrite of the Stillwater stuff yet, just throwing around some ideas. Writing should commence on Saturday for real.

I figured might as well try to learn something and make it as interesting as possible if I was going to make it.

Thanks.

Good suggestion on the carry thing, I’ll implement it since it’s easy enough.

Same goes for being experienced or not, should be relatively easy. However, it might have some clash with pre-existing text so it’ll probably be a bit vague. Or perhaps I’ll make a few references to it here and there. Might be pretty easy in the end. I’ll see how it goes.

Good suggestion for the terms being from the partners. I’ll definitely have it as an option, but the player can override them if possible. I’ll have to see what the timing for that can realistically be without breaking the flow or anything, but it’s simple enough.

The other three will probably be more romantic, but I can’t say for sure since romance isn’t really my expertise either. We’ll see how it goes I suppose, but the intention is for them to be more romantic.

Thanks.

The update will probably not be at the end of March, it’s just my internal deadline to get myself to write. Realistically at earliest on the first week of April, but we’ll see how quickly I can make it. Quite possibly relatively quickly due to the positive response so far, so I won’t feel as much anxiety from it. Unless it’s the opposite and I’ll feel extra anxious since I have to make it “as good”. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Would be funny if a small player could be carried by Marie instead.

Alright, I have a pretty good idea of what I want to include in the Stillwater version now. Should be relatively easy to make, starting tomorrow.

Thanks for posting, it’s always better to have just a bit more data on this kind of stuff than to not have it.

Perhaps, but that might spoil the mood, at least from her point of view. Which is okay, of course, since it’s not like that’d be the first thing like that I’ve included that has such an effect.

Might as well include it.

Doing my first read through. I always try to keep a post open so I can jot down notes as I play through.

  1. Neo-Terminus uses a system of social credit. The omnipresent surveillance is constantly keeping an eye on the citizens and their actions are taken into account. Minor infringements, such as throwing trash on the ground, cutting in line, annoying someone and the like deduct the social credit one has, while being kind, helpful and cleaning up after others raises it. The social credit has many minor influences, most commonly associated with government bureaucracy waiting times and other non-wealth based privileges. The system is both praised and hated, and is considered to be the counter-balance to the power of the corporations, for money cannot buy social credit. As an outsider, you are exempt from it.

I really hope you explore this in the novel because the truth is money CAN buy social credit. People with money can afford to be kind, can afford to “waste” time on social niceties, can afford to be generous to others. People in fight or flight are often pushed into desperate actions that would count against them in any sort of social currency.

Little frustrating that if you choose the rookie background none of these really feel like they apply and you have to go with the nothing special option.

In fact the rookie background also seems a little out of place in the conversation when you first meet Stillwater. He talks to you as if you’ve had years of experience as a cop, when you are fresh out of the academy.

And again in the meeting with Carr and Mouse, where they talk about how you’ve spent a lot of time on the streets.

How poor do you have to be that you can t use a trash can?

Being a rookie in the police department doesn t mean your background has to be a complete blank, you could’ve had a really eventful first day or served in the army before heading to policework. Though it does make the corruption charge funny.

“Gibson did you take bribes”
“Bruh wtf I literally just got here, who am I taking bribes from???”

I guess it depends on how hard the author is leaning into the capitalist hellscape side of the cyberpunk genre. Already in our current world there are places where you have to pay to use a public restroom, so it isn’t that big a leap to say you need to pay to use public trashcans.

I’d have to double check but I’m pretty sure the rookie background specifically says you have never even been out on the street before. You literally get out of the academy and your chief sends you on the job to Neo-Terminus to give you a safe first job.

I just got to the gala/one night stand scene thing and i NEED one for Mouse so badly :sob:

Unfortunately the social credit thing is something I was thinking of removing altogether, since I never managed to get it to be as interesting as I planned once I started writing the story. As such, it’s kind of a pointless thing at present, referred to only in a few places, which makes it awkward.

Can’t really make a new “background”, since they’re pretty important and I’m already having a hard time juggling the ones that exist.

Personally I always felt the heroism one fits the rookie best, but it’s been a while since I tested it out in practice. The idea was, at least, that the “shootout” and “disaster” sub-options would fit.

I’ll have to recheck the conversations with Stillwater, Carr and Mouse, then. It may be some oversight or a combination of some things as to why it says that. I’m pretty sure it shouldn’t say that. (too lazy to check right now  ). I’ll definitely fix the issue, or if there’s no mention of the Rookie stuff there, I’ll add some text for it.

I guess some of the combinations are especially weird. I kinda don’t want to remove the Rookie option, or to gate the other options, but I’ll have to think about it, since I also don’t want to add exceptions to the Rookie to all of them as that’d be a huge hassle whenever they’re relevant.

Well, it’s a bit vague. “Fresh out of the academy” is what it says. I envisioned that the Rookie background has been in police action for perhaps a month or so. Enough to know most practical things, but also so little as to not have real experience with anything.

Maybe I should make it more clear.

If all goes well you’ll have it by the end of April.

I agree and, I ended up going with the disaster background. It’s just the phrasing of the choice (specifically that you were awarded for action in the line of duty). It seems unrealistic for that to happen combined with being fresh out of the academy, but as you explained you aren’t exactly first day on the job, so I suppose it can work.

Having reread the conversation with Stillwater there is a line about you being fresh out of the academy, but the conversation does still read as one veteran speaking to another. It’s things like:

Weirdly I think one of the reasons I feel this way is because all the options here are worded in the past tense.

And then in the Carr and Mouse conversation:

Ah, you’re right, that’s an interaction due to some of the other choices. I see how it went wrong.

I’ll rephrase the rookie bits for the next update. Minor effort, big payoff.

Thanks for telling me.

Don’t hesitate to tell me of any other problems you run into(or just minor things to improve), ESPECIALLY if you stop reading it due to something being terrible. There’s a few sections where I suspect many people have stopped in the past, which I have since changed but I’m not totally sure they’re completely fine at present. I hope they are, but I don’t think anyone’s mentioned them since the change so I’m not sure.
