COGDemos bugs/requests

I told them to clear cache. I don’t know if this is only happening to local saves, or server saves as well, because then they could simply use that instead. I made more than 70 local saves on the test server last week and I never got this error  Then again, my laptop is quite hefty and it has lots of memory, so maybe I was never going to get it in the first place and this is something that comes up only with tablets and phones that have less memory.

Yeah, I’m not sure what’s going on with it. I’ve never encountered the error, either (and I have a ton of saves, and use the quick save slot constantly, especially in your game!). Granted, I play on my laptop. I know I should try my phone, but I can’t read anything on it, because the print is too damned small! I could try my tablet, I guess, but every time I get it out, my dog tries to knock it onto the floor so I look at him, instead!

I haven’t had any problems on mobile, but Safari/iOS keeps deleting unused browser data in the background, so maybe I’m not seeing it because my system is making sure I always have space.

I also made a lot of local saves in the past week on the test server. No problem of any kind for me either. And I’m also using a laptop.
Maybe it’s worth asking the users encountering that error what device are they using.

I’m on my tablet(it was galaxy), and I think someone else was encountering that storage problem on their tablet too. Not sure how that works tbh, but it could be the device then σ(^_^;)?

I am too actully

And the weird thing is that i have been using the local save and yet it says i still have a full save storage or whatever, despite deleting multiple previous saves from other games and yet it still does not let me save, so im hoping that it will be fixed since i use my tablet as well

I am having trouble uploading my saves. If I play a game and leave it, and the next day want to play it again from where I left off, I can’t upload my save. I don’t know why. I am so sorry about that. I think some people have said that before. Sorry if I am repeating things. But you all probably know how annoying it is to have to start from the beginning. The problem with the dashboard and creating a game, as well as uploading files, hasn’t worked with the screen reader until now. But good job so far, well done. Good luck. I am so sorry for any disruptions or grammar mistakes. And I know that you and the developer do a lot on your own, but I want it to be a good place for everyone to enjoy the games and maybe create new things. Regarding that: good job, and I wish you good luck.

I think storage filling up would be a browser problem more than device one. Someone can post the steps on how to increase the cache storage allocated to a site(pretty sure there was a guide somewhere on dashingdon thread), and those with error can check what’s wrong. I am not sure if it works on mobile devices but it might be worth a shot to identify if it is really a insufficient storage issue or something else got corrupted. FWIW I haven’t encountered the issue yet and have been using cogdemos.ink from the start.

Devices affect how browser storage space behaves though. For example, you can’t affect the allocated space on iOS (but by my experience, it also cleans up old/unused data automatically).

Are you getting errors when you try to load your save? Are these local saves or server saves? Or are you uploading saves you exported? A bit more informaiton would be helpful.

I’ll see if I can dig up some instructions on how to do that. It’s not too hard. I am curious as to what tablet/phone people are using who have this problem. I tinkered on my tablet a bit last night and ran through a few games, saving a lot, but never had it crop up. It’s hard to troubleshoot something that isn’t consistent.

Youre right lol. I cant upload screenshots for some reason but you just have to go into the cog demos site, then click on the bars(kind of look like this °=.) beside the link on the top bar, go to cookies and data, then delete that data. That was a lot easier than I expected but it works ((T_T))

I am so sorry I hav forgott. Are you getting errors when you try to load your save?
In general when I want to upload it it beginns from the start or don’t do any thing.
Are these local saves or server saves? Or are you uploading saves you exported?
I use the server saves and use Google Crome and use the normal Saves and the quick Saves.
sorry again for befor that.

Hello, I’m having the same save issues. I cleared the cache on my main browser on mobile and get the same failed to save message. I tried to save on firefox which is a browser i don’t use, and i get Failed to Save. I tried the same thing on my laptop with different browsers, clearing the cache and getting the same error message. I’m not quite sure what else I can do to resolve this

Hello @EvilChani
Problem steel continues. I can use save system properly with the screenreader even can’t access.

For those still having issues with saves after clearing your cache, I have sent a message to the dev asking him to look into it. I see no reason why clearing your cache wouldn’t fix the issue, and there are only two instances in the code where you can even get a “Failed to save” message.

Also… I switched to a different smtp provider and have it set up on moody.diy with the newest update (requiring registration). Please give it a shot, if you can. If you had already verified before I rolled back, you won’t need to verify again, unless you want me to wipe your verified date to force the issue. If you do get the verification message, please be sure to check your spam for the message.

If anyone sees a problem with the email verification, please let me know. I tried it with a few aliased accounts and ran into no issues (oddly, though they all go to the same email address, one of them went to spam and the others did not).

I’ve had emails from the same mail list go sometimes to spam and sometimes to inbox with no seeming rhyme nor reason.

It worked just fine for me this time. I received the verification mail in my inbox.

Nice!

Last night, I was playing around with some apache settings and am now blocking several bots. I’m hoping that cuts down on the hits on the email forms from bots. I am looking into setting up a honeypot on the forms, too. That may be something I can do myself. I found a laravel package that sets it up and only requires a bit of configuration on the forms.

I’m not sure if this is a bug or just the new way the site handles file updates, but I’d like to report it anyway and get some clarification.

Previously, if you had a save in a certain scene and then updated that scene, loading the save would start you at the beginning of the updated scene.

However, right now, if you update the scene and try to load a save made in that scene, it pushes you back to the beginning of the game (startup file).

Is this an intended change?
