Never. I will just curse you for a few hours. ![]()
I would expect variable named “agr” to be something like agriculture specialization or maybe the sound the character makes when they’re angry (I have a variable for different "hmm"s, it would fit).
I assume the domain problem got sorted out then?
Yep, it did. Namecheap played the, “gee, we don’t know what happened” game with me, despite my VPS showing as shut down by them. It was up about ten minutes after I emailed them a very polite, and not at all annoyed, email. Ahem.
I think I need to move both servers off of Namecheap and onto a more reliable host, but I just don’t have time right now.
Well, it’s good it’s working again at least.
I’d be happy to test in theory, but I don’t have too much time right now, so that depends on how involved the testing should be.
Any testing will be helpful. When I pull the branch to moody, I’ll drop a line in here to let everyone know. Hopefully, I can do it over the weekend.
Oh, and it also has the Firefox on iOS fix, to get rid of the endless script errors.
Hey hey, I hope this is more helpful than annoying, but I have encountered again the “Error 504-Gateway timeout” as well as an error 500, and thought maybe I should drop this here? In case it is a Me Error after all. (Happens with 3 different devices, 2 different internet connections and 2 different browsers). The problem persists since yesterday evening.
It’s just two of the demos i have tried, while everything else works fine. The 504 error with a private Patreon demo and a 500 error with a public one. If I log out it’ll throw the same error 504 during the login process (Login with Patreon) and take multiple attempts. A moment ago it managed to load the private demo only to get immediately stuck on loading a save-file. Then threw the 504 again. Cloudflare screen proclaims: Host error.
Anyway, Thank you!
Was the code visible? Usually when the 500 error happens there’s no files.
(Assuming it was a 500 error inside the website’s layout and not the whole page 500’ing.)
Hi, are you getting this on cogdemos.ink or moody.diy? I can get to both with no problem, so I’m wondering if there’s an issue with the game.
Thank you both for replying ^^
Got a screen shot from the 500 error. But guess what the other one’s working perfectly fine again - apparently just didn’t feel like it on the weekend.
I’ve been getting this error on and off for the past day or so. I’m not sure if anyone has reported this yet.
The website is very slow for me, but I can still play
It also appears to be down for me as well currently.
Looking into it. Give me a bit.
Edit:
So it appears some authors have some gigantic image files saved. It’s causing a huge slowdown through Cloudflare (repeated hits to the image). Trying to get it sorted. I remember someone pointing out that I need to shrink the image size for mobile–looks like I need to do it all around, so authors can upload whatever they want, but I only display a trimmed down version of the image so the server doesn’t choke and die.
Trying to get a workaround right now so I can fix it properly later and get back to work.
Should you limit the filesize and/or compress on upload?
The website has been intermittently failing for the past 72h. I keep getting a 522 error, stating that it’s having issues connecting to the host server (cogdemos.ink), while cloudflare and my browser are fine. Anyone else having similar issues?
Yes, and I need to deal with the fact that, when a game starts, the image file and sound files are getting hit repeatedly. It’s causing cloudflare to think the site is being attacked and throttle it. I got temp banned from my own bloody site testing a game with 31 MB of audio files that start from the beginning of the game.
Right now, I’m just trying to get a bandaid on it so it will run until I have time to look at it. I am slammed with work and don’t have time for this shit right now. But I want it up.
See above. I’m working on it.
Problem was between Cloudflare and my hosting company. Got one of the hosting techs on chat and they confirmed. For now, I paused cloudflare. I am now able to get to the site. It may take 5-10 minutes for everyone to see the change, but it should work once you aren’t going through cloudflare anymore.
thank you for all your work and effort seriously. (note to self - pay special attention to file sizes)
There’s a weird thing that keeps happening that I keep wondering the reason of (also, iOS Safari, in case that’s relevant) but is no big deal in the grand scale of things.
When I have a web page open in a browser tab, and then leave that tab by switching to another tab or another app, after a while the tab kinda-sorta resets, kinda-sorta reloads when I return to it. So in case of a WIP, it reverts back to the start of the game. If I then try to load a save (which I made because I know this reset happens but I digress), instead of loading normally it just hangs and I get the dreaded endless-load indicator. I, then, need to actually force-refresh the page by hitting the refresh button (or re-enter the url, you know what I’m talking about) and then loading a save works.
So what I’m wondering here is, what is happening here? Doesn’t the tab-reload actually reload?
