Or to put it another way, even if you make it 3/4ths through, that end you achieve 3/4ths through will be spectacular and make a neat story such that it it doesn’t feel like it’s only 3/4ths of a story. I like that part of the style guide, and I enjoy when an author devotes a lot of love to every single end–so nothing feels like a “bad end” but rather just another cool thing to explore.

Yah, and that’s the appeal of stories exactly like yours - they allow the reader to play around safely inside of a cool story world. It’s like having 10 Harry Potter books wrapped up in one package.
Nonetheless, stories are just one side of the IF coin, and I wonder whether the game element isn’t getting the love it deserves.
In other words, if it were done right, would it be a different kind of fun to play a text game where there is a serious risk of “oops, you’re dead” throughout?
There are examples of that, I recommend you Mecha ace. You can end severely maimed based on your choices and even gathering willpower to overcome those physical injuries.
