Ahh, Chess! I had chess classes as a child, but it was really in 2020 that I started playing and learning (a few months before The Queen’s Gambit came out, I think). I’ve played so many Caro-Kanns (my main defense for a loooong time, and something I have a soft spot for), so many Queen’s Gambit Declineds, so many chess videos, etc. Despite the sting that comes from losing, I was never fully able to drop chess, haha ^^‘’ Hoping your journey to NM is smooth sailing!

I played the Caro Kan before it was cool. I call it silent but deadly.
I’m currently still at 1800 but I think I’m getting gradually better

Hey there! I’m currently 1500+ USCF at the moment, always happy to speak to more experienced players. I enjoy the Reti for white as well, having made 1. Nf3 the crux of my repertoire this last year. For black I do Nimzowitsch Sicilian against e4, Grunfeld/Queens Indian against d4, and a symmetrical English against c4. Anything else I can usually find a transposition into one of my other mainlines, or stay comfortable by just following opening principles. Have you ever gotten into more FIDE rated tournaments, or only USCF?

That’s a very solid repertoire. I’ve been playing Nf3 for years and still get people online who will abort against it. It’s D4’s annoying little brother. I’ve just recently gotten into the Queen’s Indian and it’s a lot of fun
So far, I have never played a FIDE event but I will eventually. I’d be content with a NM title
Is causing a chess board earthquake with your hands, to have a draw when you’d lose otherwise a valid chess move? I think it is, personally.
