. I was playing around with images for a rework of the stats screen and updated the files for the public version of the game instead of my private one. So no new actual content, unfortunately.

Blink demo update
Hi All,
Update time!
The update includes the final scenes for chapter 1; it ended up not being a very choice-heavy update and on the shorter side, but the first part of chapter 2 should make up for that.
Unfortunately saves won’t work. I thought I was being smart making all the variables temp for the last update without thinking about the fact that they are actually needed for the rest of the story, so I had to update the files to make them actual variables. Sorry about that!

At the moment it’s just cosmetic changes that happened to the MC due to their current mutations; it could be cool, though, to use them as an indication for maybe what the MC powers could grow into.

A reunion. Oh we did get a teaser before so it’s probably who I think it is. Lots of ripe drama is gonna happen. Time to confront our past again which my MC refused to tell anyone about even the dreams. Thanks for the update

I’m super impressed by what I’ve seen so far and can’t wait to see more. A quick question regarding mutations: Can they increase in power/rank/capability with enough training or are they fixed? For example, could someone with short-range telekinesis expand their reach with enough training or could a pyrokinetic who can only set themselves alight gain the ability to set other things on fire?

@Christopher_Bull There are going to be some pretty heavy deflections needing to be done by MC’s next chapter that haven’t told anyone their past.
@SGG_NaNa 115,318, including code for both chapter 1 and the prologue, but it should be around 45,000 - 50,000 per playthrough including code.
@BubbaJubbs Thanks so much! Mutations can adapt/grow within a person the same as any biological element can. So for the examples above, someone with telekinesis could get a wider range or grow in terms of strength of what could lift or throw. Normally the ranks given take into account growth, so a younger person who already has a fairly strong mutation might be given a higher rank to account for how strong it could be in the future.
It also takes into account other elements, like general use in a work setting and what the peak of the ability could be. So, for example, MC’s electrokinesis would both need to be able to be expelled from them outwardly and also keep the same strength in the amount of volts they can produce for the rank of the mutation to go up.
There are also generally mutations that receive higher ranks; for example, anything that affects the world around the person and not the person themselves is given higher ranks, as it shows a sort of mutation that doesn’t affect individuals but the state/particles of the world itself.

Good because how our random disappearances are gonna some kind explanation regardless of why the MC is quiet about it. The professor has been respectful so far with nothing said but questions are gonna be raised eventually especially if the past of the drags them into it.

Every time I read this wip I always end up picturing that the mc is younger than they actually are. Usually I picture them at about 21 or 22 then I read the part where the Professor ask the mc how old they were when they killed Wrecking Ball. Then I’m like oh shit how do I keep forgetting the mc is in their mid to late twenties.

@Christopher_Bull Feel like it’s pretty realistic too, that even if you wanted to help someone, you would want an explanation as to why they keep disappearing and why this random person has shown up to your house having a minor meltdown looking for them.
@JAD At one point the demo did have a selectable age for the MC; I think it was between 18 and 24. Mostly just removed it because it was hard to come up with set RO ages when the MC’s is selectable.

Will the female agentish person become a RO?
A5 and Cynthia keep calling saying brother or thinking me as him.
I wanted to keep going but its line after line with Cynthia-him thoughts.
I will get back to it again.
It feels weird to me that the choice for touch aversion is “do you want the professor to kiss your character on the forehead?” Just cause like, there are valid reasons to not be comfortable with that besides being touch averse.
So it feels weird that your options to the question of “do you want to let them kiss you on the forehead?” are limited to “yes” and “Yes, despite being touch averse” and “No, because I’m touch averse.” Like granted, I am somewhat touch averse myself, but even if I wasn’t I don’t think I’d really be comfortable with my roommate/friend doing something like that. That is just like a gesture of intimacy not everyone is gonna be comfortable with in that context.

@JAD Yep, both the agents that show up near the end of Chapter 1 are ROs.
@jjc73 Just to check that it isn’t an error, did you select one of the trans options in the character creation section or one of the cis options?
@Bad_Idea_Generator Thanks for the feedback. I agree that there should be options to decline not tied to the lock-in for touch-averse. I will take a look and try and get those implemented for the next update to Chapter 1.

@jjc73 Just an update on this, took a look and found the issue. Now all the scenes for A5 and Cy should use the correct pronouns for MC.
