Author Interview: Eloy Lasanta, "Heroes of Tomorrow: Hidden Potential"

hahaha! It helps that I’m a professional writer outside CoG, so I have a good routine. I won’t say it was easy, though. Oh boy, was it hard some days. :joy:

PS: The demo is out now! Check out the announcement post! So much happens in those first 3 chapters, it’s ridiculous.

If it does well, will there be a sequel? Or a update (free or otherwise)?

It’s a yes as far as I’m concerned. I have tons of story ideas that can take place in this world.

I want to read them - if for no other reason, than because you have a knack for coming up with some really bizarre superpowers that are actually useful.

Aww, thank you for that! I feel like Stench and Rainbow are who you’re thinking of. Am I right?

Man, I’m lucky to get 400 thousand on a good year, and I’ve got a few CoG releases under my belt, lol.

Your speed is inspirational! I’ll give the demo a look

Do you have a favourite power set?

I think my favorite is energy manipulation, but they all have their perks. For instance, EM is powerful and great for blasting junk, but you don’t get to fly, and it’s less generally useful than some of the others. Bestial Aspects are great if you want a savage game and to notice more things, while Elemental Control is actually weak against some threats, but allows for environment manipulation, which is helpful in multiple situations. Superhuman physique has little to no drawbacks, except that it’s unwieldy, and Telekinesis is draining on the mind.

Each of them is fun in its own way, though. It’s hard to really pick an absolute favorite.

I definitely prefer Eric Moser’s prose, but there is good character work and an intriguing plot so far in the demo. I love Conjurer and Paragon. Conjurer was like a mix of Magik and Doctor Strange to me, and Paragon screamed a mix of Kara Zor-El and her cousin Kal-El the whole time. The inspirations and references were obvious yet endearing, and I think I will be buying this one. The main thing I found lacking in the writing was description. The pacing was okay, but everything from character visuals to settings felt hand-waved and like they weren’t important. The game didn’t provide much in the way of flavor. Because of this, it felt a bit generic at times, but nothing too off-putting. I think the author is talented and I enjoyed this enough to fully check it out.
