Cal like G are my favorite. Maximum drama and chaos. But I don’t know why in IF the taken one’s are also the nicest. Like G was so nice and now Cal also.
Is it because these are the people who actively wants to be in a relationship?
Not really, G is a bitch to everyone except the mc. Cal is nice to everyone even if you insult them. It has nothing to do with wanting to be in a relationship since they already are in a relationship. I think it’s just so many ROs are dismissive and hostile to the mc that ROs like Cal and G that are just nice to the mc make me think they are flirting.
I mean, they are in a relationship because they want to be in one.
I mean yeah clearly
I’ve been loving this WIP ever since I first came across it on Tumblr almost a year ago. This update was so good.
Cal stole my heart in the prologue but A was such a shocking surprise in this chapter, love them and the potential of their route.
I didn’t know what to expect from M but their chemistry with the MC is I picked the option of them being the one that dumped the MC and it felt very bittersweet. Indeed, their route is giving ‘right person, wrong time’ energy.
Rainn, oh Rainn… I’m a sucker for second chance romance, but with Rainn it almost feels like that ship has sailed. Still, I’m interested in seeing how the author will handle their route.
G intrigues me, but I didn’t know they’re also in a relationship, did I miss something?
L and Andi atm are best friends material and I’m not into any of the flings (Fitz, Henry, etc.).
No my mistake. What I mean by G was G in infamous.
I feel like a lot of IF players have this wrong idea that they can control every aspect of their MC… which is not true at all. Not only is the medium limiting but there’s also stories and narratives the writers decided to write (either to move the plot forward or just because it’s smth they enjoy). And sometimes, MC has to act a certain way or do certain things even if the player doesn’t agree with it lol MC cannot be a complete blank slate and you can’t decide everything about them.
In the case of APT 502, it’s canon Rainn’s MC’s ex. It’s canon they were deeply in love. It’s also canon that MC is just not gonna move on after some days, which is the most natural thing in the world after the end of such a relationship (and none of this was omitted by the author). I get that ppl don’t like Rainn but what they should understand is that at the end of the day they are not the MC.
If you’re not into IFs where MC has set relationships or happens to be at the heart of some set event you don’t like, then it’s better to stir away from those tbh.
I am one of those people who is a little miffed by MC moping over Rainn but but it’s mostly because I want to move on to the flings and the romance aspect of the story and be in the thick of things. It just gets a little tedious
Tbh irregardless of Rainn, I just happened to choose A as my mc’s RO…which means it will take 29 million years for the relationship as Atlas currently cannot bare the sight of any type of love
It’s my own fault though bc originally I was going to go for L but when I played through the bartender route and my mc spent time with A on the subway & he sung…hook, line and sinker
I’m curious to see how Rainn will develop as a character. One thing that has irked me in media before is when couples break up and then get back together, and it’s treated as a happy ending, but the problems that broke them up in the first place haven’t been fixed (like Ross and Rachel from Friends), or get “fixed” on a superficial level (an HK drama I watched once had a couple where the boyfriend never defended his girlfriend from his mother’s insults, and they were only able to get back together because his mother and girlfriend bonded. Stand up for your partner, maybe??). So when characters get back together with their exes like that, it just feels like regression. They haven’t grown as people and they’re just heading toward another breakup down the line.
Rainn cites being too overwhelmed to handle being in a relationship right now, so even if they’re still in love with MC and want us back, I’m not sure how they plan to work that out because becoming senior associate’s not gonna get any easier. But I think that’s a personal issue for them to figure out themselves. On an interpersonal level, Rainn definitely needs to show an improvement in their communication skills, and depending on the personality of your MC, there may need to be efforts to change on both sides for a proper reconciliation to happen. (Unless the goal is for the reconciliation to still be a mess, which can also be fun.)
TL;DR I’m interested in seeing how the author will handle Rainn’s character development/romance path, since they’re the MC’s ex, and a very recent one at that!
But on a personal non-writerly level I’m mostly interested in moving on from them and romancing A, heh (and maybe try Cal’s route too)
Welcome to the A fan club. The scene you mentioned is very emotional, indeed the lyrics are written very poetically. I didn’t think A would impress me that much. They seem to have something very captivating. As for L, I quite like their energy but I think they’re more suitable as my friend rather than a RO.
I am part of A’s fan club too. My MC was a musician and A was witty and sarcastic in the best possible way. Though my second choice would be C their current partner annoys me (I am assuming they are supposed to cause C is a RO)
Saw a random reddit thread about this. Decided to see what the big deal was.
Gotta say, I’m instantly hooked. In a way very few Choice of Games books have done. I so can’t wait for more of this.
By the way, not sure who else is with me on this, but I’ve done about 8 play/read through and all but one end with me defiantly flipping off Rainn. I just imagine some college rock anthem kicking off to play out the “episode”.
One brain cell between us. Having followed the tumblr for a while, I went in with a mind to go the FWB route with L but was surprised by how taken I was with A’s outing. L is super fun but I think they’re more suited to be my MC’s bestie. I guess I’m A-mancer now.
Nah, I think it’s a date. She may not have cheated on the MC in the traditional sense, but I have a feeling her distancing like she did was an Emotional cheat (yeah it sounds dumb, but we all know what I mean). I think whoever is in that car is the horse she already picked out from the stable, and this was her saddling up.

Per author’s word Rainn still has feelings for MC and will be attempting to win them back, so i really doubt they’re busy dating other people. Regardless of game building you a silly cliffhanger to get incensed about.
Plus Rainn isn’t the type to go jump on some rando when it’s been mentioned that they have a life plan they had ever since they were a kid so they’re not going to have dating on their mind.
Like I said a while ago, it’s most likely a close family member that Rainn probably met up with to process just how badly they fucked up with the MC and they probably didn’t feel comfortable going to Andi for advice again
Is Rainn a dumb bitch? Yes absolutely. Are they cheating? Most likely not.
Never said a Rando, I said someone she already had Emotional investment in prior to the “break”. Whether she realized or not, we’re plainly told from the mc that she’s been getting distant.
Big sign is that she didn’t let the MC know about the promotion. If you’ve never been in that level of a relationship, it seems paltry. But if you have, you know the significance of someone that professionally driven not including you in it. Especially with, if you ask, they respond they didn’t think you’d care. That’s someone who’s divested emotionally.
But hey, maybe I’m wrong. Nobody knows but the author. But I’m getting big “I confused closeness with a work colleague that I mistook for something else and I may regret this I’m the future” vibes
You have to keep in mind that the MC is absolutely an unreliable narrator due to the emotional turmoil they’re going through after Rainn dumped them after 3 years so you shouldn’t trust what they’re seeing
And this WIP is based on sitcoms that has similar situations like this which always end with “them? They’re my family”
