A Mage Reborn, Book Two (WIP) - UPDATED April 5th, 2025 | Book One Released!

Big brain moment here, we turn on Tahlia after she gives us more phantasmas to control. She even gave us the illusion phantasma if you were pro Acardian

Eli would also back up the MC for sure unless there was a way for Tahlia to just… take away their lives immediately since her phantasma is basically a cheat code and described in a similar vibe as the Akashic Records

Here I will even it out. I really like her

Yeah. I forgot when but the MC says she is doubtless the strongest person on the continent. If not the whole three.

It was Tahlia at the top of the list, then MC and Eli right?

Yes. MC admits that next to Tahlia, they are probably the most powerful mage in Arcadia.

Honestly can’t believe that Tahlia would be stupid enough to give us enough power to overpower her. Also, she got telepathy. So the minute she even gets a whiff of treachery from us, she’s probably going to take us out.

She allowed us to keep Raegusa even if it was the most destructive arcana power that old Arcadia had. But right now in my current playthrough, I’m picking all of the rage options. Could be hard for her to take a whiff of treachery when the MC suddenly loses their cool and takes them off guard that way

Brought MC back to life to be a slave. A tool again. This time used by some sorceress with bloated ego in her fucking politics. Eli? Maybe they and MC had a history together, but I’d prefer my MC wasn’t forced by the author to stay close to Eli and sympathize with them. Now they are just a guard who keeps mc on a leash. That’s all.

No, I’m not going to be grateful to her.

I don’t think Tahlia is as smart as she assumes she is. I would be willing to bet that she’s over-reliant on her telepathy and that’ll be how she can eventually be gotten rid of. I do wish there was some middle ground between “tries to escape” and “is pro-Arcadia” because my character is not pro-Arcadia, but any escape attempt at this point is premature. Where would we even go?

Maybe. But the only place that could happen is on the floating city thing, and Tahlia knows everything we do and every thought we have while we’re there.

Semantics.

We were already a tool for Leon to use to win his war, and we got tied to a stake and got roasted for our trouble.

At least with Arcadia, we can be pretty sure that isn’t going to happen.

Still doesn’t change the fact that she’s a lot more powerful than we are, and we have no idea what she’s packing.

Semantics…:skull::skull::skull:

For some people, slavery is a deal breaker

At least Thalia is honest about using the mage. Leon pretended to be their friend, used them to win a war, then deep fried them without remorse. Until later, and it’s too little, too late.

Which is why any escape attempt made now is premature. That’s what seems to be getting lost here, there’s no choice but to bide your time if you’re not pro-Tahlia’s Arcadia. You’re going to have to find a way to outsmart someone who can fead your thoughts. She clearly doesn’t believe anyone can do that, so she has no problem powering you up with as many Phantasma as she can match to you. That is not something that a smart person does, that’s something that a person used to having life’s cheat codes does.

Glad to see I’m not the only one who thinks it was really foolish of her to do that. She’s overconfidant and it will be her downfall.

She forces that no matter what, my mc is opposed to both Thalia’s agenda and hosting phantasma/parasites but she still forces it upon him anyway.
In any case this is yet another parasite that is not meant for mc’s bloodline and likely not fully compatible which also means the mc still has no parasite that was actually meant for their, aka the Mateus bloodline.
Nor does the mc learn any really useful magic for dealing with the parasites themselves, no matter if you are pro or anti arcadia, you’re unconscious or otherwise controlled during the pivotal parts.

Doubtful, the mc knows a few fancy tricks but they have next to no really useful knowledge, really wish we could have kept the Jiasei woman alive as then we might have been able to learn something actually useful.

Yep that is the crux of it she also openly praises Thaubal and what sister did to the mc’s face with no ambiguity whatsoever.

Speaking of too little too late, my guess is that the mc can possibly beat her telepathy by going batshit insane, which much like how Sidestep refuses to even touch the minds of Psychopator and the Catastrofiend would be one possible way for mc to beat Thalia…on the worthless insanity path. Sure Thalia’s mindreading ability may become useless, or even actively detrimental, to her in that case but the mc’s mind is basically useless to themselves too by then.

Foist on mc is the better match I think here as the two parasites the mc is forced to host now are still not ones meant for their Mateus bloodline, my guess is that Thalia mostly keeps those to herself.

Well, my MC wants Leon grovelling on his knees, and the city he died to protect to be nothing but a smoldering ruin.

And in the words of the greatest anime character of all time, Vegeta, ‘Is it slavery when you get what you want?’"

Exactly, and depending on your MC, she may not even be using them.

I mean, we all saw how brutal the conquest of Arcadia was in the past. F and countless other Arcadian children have been bled and tortured to death for the magical potential in their blood, never mind all the other atrocities that have happened.

Now, is Thalia a saint and are her motives wholly altruistic? No. But she resurrected the MC after they were condemned and executed by the very people they saved, she offered them a home, she reunited them with Eli whom she also resurrected and she sends them off to save other children from having to go through the same horrific procedures that F, Eli and the MC all had to go through.

Or that’s something someone does when they’re in control. And she is, apparently, considering she’s the only one with access to like 70+ Phantasmas and all their power, whereas the MC only has 2.

Controlling a flying magical city, having unlimited access to the vast magical resources in said city and being pretty much omniscient and omnipotent while you’re there is pretty much a guaranteed cheat code that prevents anyone from usurping or threatening you, least of all a single mage who has only been there for a few months.

We’re not talking about useful knowledge, though. We’re talking about pure, unbridled, magical power. And behind Thalia, the MC is the most powerful, destructive mage in Arcadia.

Are other characters wiser than the MC? Sure they are. That Jiasei woman had centuries of experience on the MC, and despite being weakened, we curb stomped her all the same.

Not really it was four against one and Yu seems to be almost as destructively powerful as the mc is.

But it is more than wisdom alone, thus far the mc is not even addressing their most obvious failure of being the only combat mage who cannot use a backup weapon, which is what turned my mc into dr. House to begin with.

That said the mc knows precious little about such things as arcana, the parasites, etc, which is also a real glaring weakness to being able to plot and scheme effectively, which means escaping Arcadia either relies on going really batshit or being “rescued” by Param.

That still aren’t really compatible with them to start with.

I just dream of sneaking up to Mage’s post-mortem statue and tuning it up with as many explosion glyphs as Mage can create…
aaand shooting this beautiful DIY rocket straight into Leomar’s bedroom window.:fireworks::fireworks::fireworks:
Let the city have some nice fireworks for once.

Correction, you mean it was 4 against a few monsters and a whole army of corpses, and the MC still saved F and f’d up that Jiasei woman.

No, Y is exhausted and pretty much out of commission after clearing a few soldiers. My MC used Satiel to raze entire battlefields.

Also, Thalia was pretty vocal when she said that the MC’s blood purity, and by extension, their magical potential far exceeded F & Y.

Yeah, they were on the run for years. Looking for your next meal and not being caught by “sister” would take precedence over studying.

Not so. Remember that Thalia was shocked at how quick and seamlessly the MC could use the earthsworm’s (forget his name) powers. And I’m not sure if you’re a patreon or not, so i can’t really say too much about the new update. But all i will say is that whenThalia gave is that second Phantasmas, she did say that it would become easier to use

She “believed” that Lord Dynast left behind some sort of spell that made it possible for Raegusa to be imbued without any problems but even the Mage knew she was bullshitting. She knows exactly what happened and it’s probably because the Mage had the right blood for Raegusa.

Oh, even before that mc seems to have had the rotten luck of being the youngest and being stuck in a kid’s curriculum during their time at the Salantir court while Eli and sister got treated more like adults and seem to have gotten a more useful education, including weapon training in Eli’s case.
And then again when the mc returns to Thaubal’s old lab which is also useless since sister already cleared out everything remotely useful.

Which means that either mc isn’t in fact a Mateus but something else or this is something Thalia actually does not know either and she is just guessing as some Arcadian knowledge is lost even to her. Again, pity we couldn’t question the Jiasei woman enough to actually learn something useful for once, something that Thalia might not have known.
