You seem to be implication that evolution makes the creature it effects choose the change. Neigh. It is random genetic mutation that “chooses” the change, and natural selection that determines if the change is good or bad. The virus has just as high or a likelihood of having a good change as we do, except it can reproduce faster.
I don’t believe that evolution gave us the trait that made us create weapons of mass destruction, but I understand what you’re implicating (I think). And I also think that you’re making argument to synthetic life or genetic engineering, and I must say that if the zombie virus was genetically engineered as a wartime weapon, it was done by someone on the downslide of their career. The Bubonic Plague 2.0 would have been far more impressive. I contend that the only way we could have engineered would have been accidentally, which is essentially the same as saying it just occurred in the wild, give or take.
Now I concede that if the plague started in Africa and symptoms were shown while in Africa, there’s no way international health services would have allowed it to reach industrialized countries. That would be as catastrophic as H.I.V. reaching the U.S., and they wouldn’t let that happen again (I hope). Besides, if one of the symptoms is the death and regeneration of the body, one must realize that all the human cells are dead and the viral cells would need to replace them in population to even begin to make a functioning body again. This is capable in a mild climate, where the weather is a bit more hospitable . . . but in Africa, under the sun, with the flesh decomposing faster than the virus can colonize it? Unlikely at best.
I understand the entire point of fear is to keep you out of danger. The entire point of your legs is to keep you out of danger too, but sometimes the think causing your fear and need to escape is better at chasing than you are at escaping. Additionally, I recognize that they’ve been galvanized to recognize the signs, but really now, if I tell you about Plague X and then inject Plague Y into society, which appears different but is really the same, are you going to tell me that Plague X and Plague Y should be treated in the same mannerism before or after devastation?
@Storm absolutely but the game starts in Colorado and won’t move too far.
@adjppm1227 not exactly. If you meet group X, they start with specific people. In the next chapter, you may meet groups Y and/or Z. Based on many factors including the MC’s stats, skills, and choices, you group can stay X, become X+Y, X+Z, or X+Y+Z. You are always group X.
And yes, NPCs will act differently toward you based on many things: gender, age, race, appearance, skills, profession, your mannerisms, how others view you, etc.
Okay, I think I understand, and I don’t see much of a problem with that. Quick questions: Will I have the capacity to be the leader of the group, or one of them? Moreover, does the group have a set type of . . . government (I hesitate to use the word with such a small number of people) . . . or do we influence that?
@Jimd will there be a possibility of other group members being proficient with skills you lack thus making different groups make sense for different character types
Could I create a plot to take control of the group? I mean i got only two leadership points but 6 persuasion maybe i could obtain power other way. Making Tom sneaky maneuvers manipulating people, engines poison… Also could i end alone? without no group. i suppose not due a lot of code, but i could kill others tiring survivors and end along with my pets? i mean humans are so boring in apocalypse games always yelling and crying for their loses …
I’ve just started to play and test this game.
And I found a cool thing! finally a character who’s name is a cool Persian name! Darius that is. thanks Jim!
@darkstar2101Too much lol. Zombies are already impossible enough too add new treats.
Also @JimD im not american so if i have to choose a place to go or not I only know some states names not the actual climate food surces so could i suggest at least, a small map in the stats and a small info about place i don’t asking for a encyclopedia. Something like X place - Desert few water few food resurce many fuel and scavenge options.
If not im done or i have to play with a atlas or google play…
@marajade@adjppm1227 yes to all of your questions, but beyond that I want to keep things vague until those scenes are released. I’ve found giving too many details breaks the quality of feedback when people read it in game.
@817819 characters have set skills like anyone; they don’t adapt to your skills per se. But if you have no Medicine skill, there’s a good chance you’ll meet an NPC who does and this may affect your decision to invite them into your group or not.
@arash yes, I admit ZE1 was not very multicultural. I am trying to change that!
@JimD
That is very cool. Is Darius native Persian? if so I can recommend tipical personal traits that Persians usually have. e.g being kinda cheap (although they are extremely smart when it comes to business and earning money), family-loving, (they spend lots of time with there families, like aunts/uncles/cousins), kind of abit selfish, open-minded usually, prefer football (socker) over all other sports, they rage out when foreigners identify them as arabs, favourite food: kebab.
Also for some reason the thing which this guys wrote in the link below is strangely correct… LOL
Darius is not per se a persian name there was greeks and romans with that name probably is indoeuropean. Also i dont know if irani people want to be target that way, a muslim in a this type of game problematic…
Excellent, excellent! I’m keep any furthermore questions on plot stored away until . . . oh, probably the day you release the next part.
I do have one non-plot-related question though. I do choose a profession, I make my own, and I usually have my best skills at level 3. Is that advisable, or should I have a few less top skills (I think I usually have about 5) at level 4?
