Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven -- set for release 10/28/16

You’re not going to get 100% accurate, especially with all the professions you’re putting into these games. Plus, for many professions any sort of immersion breaking stuff would be gone after the initial part where the zombies hit. (A lot of the stuff we learn in police training would not be exactly… relevant when there’s no longer a government.) I just appreciate you’re putting in the effort to try - especially with all the myriad different niche jobs you have on the default. You could argue stats and stuff but it’s a game first and foremost. (Like you could argue that especially with a street officer the stealth and leadership skills should be swapped, due to the nature of an officer on the street having to take control of a volatile situation and defuse it on a consistent basis of course depending on where you work. I can’t see a normal street cop getting much use out of stealth - in most situations you’re supposed to be as visible as possible hence the uniform, flashing lights and loud noises, and clearly marked car. Everything else makes much more sense, except perhaps the electronics. The frustrations I’ve had explaining how basic electronics work to people ughhhh though to be fair it’s mostly older cops.)

Actually, it would be 2 enlisted “grunts” (Infantry and Medic), a SNCO (Leader), and a CO (Officer), but I see that it is too much, and won’t press the idea any further. However, I still hold that a SNCO would be better suited for the social-oriented protagonist. COs need to see the bigger picture, and can’t bound with each one of their men individually. NCOs are required to know how to deal with people, so they can pick a bunch of soldiers with varying personalities and make them work together as a team.

I’m guessing the other survivors will be of the “rag-tag bunch of misfits” variety, so one would need a hell of a NCO to make them work together instead of just killing each other or walking away from the group. I suggest a SNCO instead of a NCO so you can justify (or at least hand-wave) their lack of combat abilities due to their relatively old age compared to the younger Infantryman. A First Sergeant in his middle-to-late 30s, or a Sergeant Major in his early 40s would probably suffice.

I only told you to “beef up” the Infantryman because he was a NCO. My last suggestion was to make him a Specialist, so he would be purely combat-based with no leadership skills, as you said you wanted. Making him a NCO would give him too much leadership skills, which would make him an overlapping character in the current combat-support-social approach you’re taking to the military protagonists.

And I agree with Brian, Police Officers should get their level 2 stealth traded for level 2 leadership. Also, as far as Hackers go, I strongly encourage you to read this, this, and then watch this.

You’ll probably want to re-write some of the options given to protagonists with high electronic skills after that. I thought you were intentionally looking to make them Hollywood-type Hackers, so I didn’t even bother point out anything unrealistic regarding them. But now that you said you want to make them realistic, well…

Just wanna say merry Christmas and have a good day

@Nathan_Faxon Dante is okay once you get to know him.

@Brian I think you said everything perfectly. I can make the stealth change.

@StarshinaSokolov It’s funny you say the Hollywood treatment, that’s the term my friend used. I think I’ve done that (unknowingly) with hacker, movie star, bank robber, and others. So I am going to use that philosophy more. I am pretty comfortable with hacker (my field is IT), and early on in SH’s development, I had an advocate for crackers (which is a more accurate term but not well known) who gave me tips and told me to KISS. When someone like you gives me advice, I respect/use it best I can.

I found this spelling mistake on the first page of the prologue.

Add a full stop after the plus.

Also, I just want to say that I love all the work you have put into the little details.

I found this spelling error in the bank robber profession when I robbed the bank with Reilly.

However when I chose “I smash his face with the butt of my shotgun.” It said that I yanked on a ski mask.

I found this error in chapter 2 when I visited the three story home. I chose to kill the zombie, I had a tactical shotgun and knife as a primary and secondary. My ranged weapon level was 4 (Advanced).

I found this error when I selected “Cover her body out of respect. She may be a zombie, but she used to be a person.”

Recently departed.
In chapter 1 if you’re an infantry soldier and went to the army base there is an option to examine the satellite phone, but nothing happens when it’s clicked.
Is this a bug or are you adding more later?

I found this error as a con artist in the prologue. If you select that you like males and females in the dating test, both emails for Darlene and Garrett appear.

If you select the email from Darlene the email from Garrett disappears. But if you select the email from Garrett you can still select the email from Darlene.

so whens the next update dying to play more of this

@Arcane_warrior
The next update is next week before the new year.

How do you know that @Bugreporter

@JimD
I found a bug in chapter 2.
If you have a dependent and you visit the three story home or rancher, the game forgets that you have a dependent.

It’s written on the Zombie Exodus Facebook page and his Twitter.

Oh okay thank I didn’t know that

I just finished playing the demo. I went to search the big ranch-house, had a Springfield as my main and M-4 as my secondary weapon and decided to kill all the zombies inside and recover the back-pack and hand-gun. Two issues occurred:

  1. The game asked me to reconsider my main weapon, which I did and chose my M-4. The game then recorded I had 2 M4’s equipped and I had to manually change back once I returned home.

  2. Once I killed all the zombies in the Ranch house and discovered the couple suicided, I left the house without getting the back-pack or the hand-gun.

Overall the game had continuity - one suggestion: I started as a soldier and after I hit the gas mechanic and the two soldiers stopped with their Humvee, I continued my journey in my sedan instead of taking the Humvee. If I were in that situation, I’d have taken the Humvee and left the smaller, more fragile sedan behind.

I look forward to the final work and if on Steam will purchase first day.

I have no way of knowing if these bugs were reported in over 2800 posts, but better safe than sorry.

Living in the Big City of Nightfall, acquiring a CB Radio, and contacting your neighbor Fred opens up the option to try and call his mother. If you don’t call his mother in the first moment available, and then you go to Fred’s home the following day, and find his note saying he left to find his mother, you can then call his mother via the radio, and if you do, your character will mention as if Fred was still home, safe and sound.

The second thing I’ve seen is, on the second day on these same circumstances, if you left your home once for any reason, and then again for searcrhing the surrounding area, the game will mention you leave your home and lock it up twice in succession, the first phrase because you had already done it that day, and the second one because you are doing so now, but not taking into account the previous phrase.

Good stuff man. I’m really liking this game.

I found this spelling mistake in chapter 2, when Dante is being chased by Zombies.
I selected “Shoot at the infected from the safety of my home.”

Add a full stop after M16.

@Bugreporter thanks, I have fixed all errors in my local files which I will upload tomorrow, except for the bug where the nephew is forgotten when you return from the 3 story home or rancher. I’m having trouble finding it.

I will be adding more in future updates but in chapter 1, the sat phone is there to make you wonder what it does :slightly_smiling:

@Zolataya thanks for the feedback. These are tricky errors, so I will investigate. Such reports help to make the game have greater continuity since it’s so complex.

Great suggestion.

@GoldenXan neither of these have been reported so far. Thanks very much!

I noticed that in the prologue if you don’t board up the house and the Zombie attacks and breaks in, the option to board it is still present.
But when “Board up the house to protect it from intruders.” Is clicked it says “You survey the house. Everything is in good shape so far with nothing broken and all intact and able to withstand light damage or force.”

Happy New Year! Here’s a short, 10,000 word update to ZE:SH. Clear your browser history to play.
