Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven -- set for release 10/28/16

@cascat07 i intend to add some heavy armor like SWAT and riot gear for characters to use, and a reasonable way to get them is off zombies or corpses. So those options may work. Could you imagine seeing a zombie in a turret gurner’s helmet? run

@Lithophene yes, a ladder climbing zombie would suck.

@Bugreporter thanks again for your feedback/error reports.

Yes, insulin will have a major use; I’m not close yet. I wish I had time! I have the next 10 chapters planned out. I’m not writing as fast as I used to.

I use James when I need to sound official.

Hey at least he can’t bite you! A note of realism caution on that helmet. The faceshield portion is an attachment that is screwed on. It’s not very confortable unless you are sitting on a gunner’s sling and can rest it on something now and then. It can stop a 7.62 round headed for your face though. Because of the discomfort it isn’t often employed, but I could see it being used domestically if you are dealing with rioting civilians. It’s as good at stopping a rock to the face as bullet and has the benefit of integrating with existing gear. Riot gear for the military is not widely available, and isn’t normally bulletproof.

I was thinking that size would be a good thing to add. But then,It’s too late now! Haha. It would be interesting tho. You could, maybe, lie about your age depending on your size. It would also come with percks or cons. Being tall is good for throwing people/zombies away and climbing in general (since you could reach higher places) while being small could be gr8 to find places to hide and pass throught smaller escape routes.

Hey, Jim, you aren’t planning on breaking my heart again in Safe haven, are you? :sob: I’m still reeling from Tom. I gave that man my heart, and then he went and did that.

In the prologue as a bank robber robbing the bank I found this error.
On the first page it says that Reilly and I put on ski masks.

However when I clicked “I smash his face with the butt of my shotgun.” it said that pulled on a ski mask.

In chapter 1 if the option is selected where Lyle’s cut is cleaned and Jillian is allowed to use the bathroom, If you own a first aid kit it displays this text.
“Lyle finishes cleaning the wound, and he wraps the clean cloth around his leg.”
However if you don’t own a first aid kit it displays this text.
“You finish tending the wound by wrapping a clean bandage around his leg.”

@JimD
In the prologue if you have a alcohol addiction It says that you drink whisky.

But in chapter 1 it says that you take out a six pack of beers.

If you have a meal it says that you drink whisky.

In chapter 2 it says that you drink a bottle of beer but in chapter 1 it says that you drink a can.

It makes sense that an alcoholic wouldn’t just have on type of alcohol on them.

@valentineheart additional challenges won’t be implemented for this set of professions.

@Lithophene i will likely break your heart again at some point in Safe Haven. I apologize in advance. :innocent:

@Bugreporter thanks again for pointing out typos.

As far as alcohol goes, I wanted to vary types of alcohol but I guess the issue is adding it correctly to inventory. Calling them “Bottles of alcohol” doesn’t capture it all correctly. I hate to break it out by type. Maybe the blanket term Alcohol works.

@JimD

Does an MC with an addiction to alcohol have a specific type of alcohol they like?

In the apocalypse beggars can’t be choosers. I imagine an alcoholic MC will be more along the lines of “My alcohol! Mine! All the alcohol is mine!”

hell, I think they’ll eat fermented fruit if they have to.

Maybe if they’re cooking and crafting is enough they can just make their own alcohol.
Actually @JimD if there’s ever a part where several establishments or groups are made and a trade system happened between them would alcohol be very high up in value? I imagine it would be a very good trade item to use. Alcoholics and all plus people will be desperate and want to get away from their problems.

I second this. Crafting for a makeshift brewery and cooking to make the alcohol. I think all old world luxuries would be a high value: Alcohol, Chocolate, toilet paper. But it also depends who you would trade with, maybe you’ll come across a group who hate alcohol but love something else.

At the end of chapter 2 when Jaime is talking to Dillian, I might have found a spelling mistake.

You might want to change ‘Somethin’ to ‘Something’.

Did you mean “Go head downstairs.”

In the prologue as a scientist I found this spelling mistake when I chose to go to the meeting.

the building.
I had a addiction to nicotine as a challenge.

In regards to trading, I think that your relationship with that group should come into factor. If you have a good relationship with a group then they are more likely to trade or give better offers and vice versa.

I found these spelling mistakes in chapter 1 after I let Lyle and Jillian in.

After I cleaned Lyle wound and let Jillian use the bathroom.

I just hope it doesn’t get infected.

With Kleptomaniac as a challenge.

Lays her handbag.
It says that nothing is the backpack is valuable but you unzip her handbag.

That doesn’t look like a typo. Just Lyle not using proper grammar. Like what I just did just now.

Probably, it’s just hard to tell.

@NJG those with the addicted to alcohol challenge have no preference to any alcohol.

@EmperorHeartless I love the idea of crafting alcohol. I will add that after the December update. And yes, @Nathan_Faxon, I like the idea of making other luxury items as well.

@acham028 I agree. That’s my plan :smile:

@Bugreporter in Stephen King’s “On Writing”, one of his tips is to drop the apostrophe in dialogue when characters drop letters due to accent or slang. Apparently, no one else agrees with this, including copyeditors so I have to go back and find all of the times I left off apostrophes.
