Speaking about vehicle, I am kind of surprised not many zombie media have survivors use one of these to clear the horde. Armored the ride up so that zombie can’t enter easily, and just use the heavy machinery to flatten the zombie hordes.
Another good thing that could be at an airstrip, military or civilian, could be concrete. If the runway is paved, as many airstrips are, then there might be some concrete and equipment around for maintenance/repairs. Concrete would be fantastic to have for building up the junkyard, defenses or structures.
Hell yeah. Never thought of that. A cement mixer would be the shit, but you’d need lots of rebar to make any kind of stable wall with concrete. Probably could find rebar at the houses under construction you note scouting with Rachel.
Definitely in the top 5 most useful group members too. Gina brings a lot to the table, I kind of want to try having her as second in command. Tactically it makes sense to keep your second at base, if you’re out roaming the countryside, and Jaime and Rachel are both constantly in the field.
Pragmatically, Gina definitely is one of the best survivors you can have. Her crafting abilities are such that she counts as two people on many construction and reinforcement projects, her military experience helps make her adept at both hunting and scavenging missions, and her work ethic is fantastic throughout the story. I just hope we can keep her healthy as the outbreak wears on.
I understand she works well as a second-in-command for less diplomatic groups. In any event, my unofficial title for her is “Group Chief Engineer” and her advice is very much worth listening to:
“The more we build this place [the junkyard] up, the better our lives will be.”
Character-wise, I very much like and trust her as one of the group’s older and more mature members. She’s had personal tragedies both before and during the outbreak, and I get the sense that she cares deeply for the group as a whole, even though each personal relationship may vary. She may not get overly close in some cases, fearing new hurt, but she works hard for everyone, viewing them as “the last family we may ever have.” My MCs with nephews trust Gina as a baby-sitter.
Yes, other characters will notice a delusional MC with low mental health attribute.
I doubt JimD will add any new traits, other than the PTSD trait which can be acquired, and play tested in the part 4 beta. It would involve significant rewrites to parts 1-3. New features, absolutely, every new chapter brings new features, whether that is new group members, vehicles, or equipment. I’d even argue that winter’s onset is likely to be a new feature, given that you will need cold weather gear etc.
Will we ever get the chance to learn more about our nephew mother/MC sister? From what little tidbit I seen from dialogue it doesn’t seem like he had that good of a life even before the outbreak
Like when you teach him cooking skills, it was noted that in school, ALL his lunch are only Peanut Butter Sandwich, that can’t be healthy or delicious to eat all the time. Or when Julian and Kyle stay at the house in part one, he overheard their “exercise” and compared it to his mother’s boyfriend, did his parents divorce and the nephew’s mother have new fling? Or was he born as an “accident”?
Nothing weird about the peanut butter sandwich thing, if there’s one thing I remember from elementary school, it was a lot of kids who brought bag lunches having one of those, maybe an apple or something, and water
