Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven General Discussion (Part 3 beta coming in December)

Thinking about economics here, what approach should we take?

Should we fight (focus on gun and weapons and uh… “trade” for other resources?)

Scavenge (just take whatever we find?)

Merchantalism (produce all we need to be self sustaining, sell off extra)

Or go by economics theory, trade with comparative advantage (e.g. we produce guns, trade with farmers for food.)

Although I doubt an in depth, responsive trading system will be implemented haha

We should scavenge, at first. Then long-term, we need trading partners and the ability to produce our own stuff (farming, crafting, etc.)

Fighting other groups should be a last resort, because it costs lives, as well as resources.

I generally prefer to be peaceful- unless there is no other choice left!

I mean, we could outsource the fighting part to the zombies (like zombie Joe!) Or simply get 2 factions to fight each other, and defeat the remaining one.

Personally I would specialise in guns, but that’s because I’m hoping to defeat the Silverthornes, after that probably focus on food and defense.

I would love to take over the Silverthornes base but I’m not sure how Rachel would feel about it. Just think, self-sustaining and natural infrastructure already in place. Only problem is the people

Friendly Mc: well we can be friends with them and offer cohabitation
Aggressive Mc: what people? all I see is zombies that can hold guns.

It’s already being tracked. I’ve played a few times where I had to chuck my guns aside because I had no ammo left over. Pretty great playthrough, that one.

Thus far, i haven’t been out of Ammo :-):stuck_out_tongue:

But i am not complacent

Being ready with multiple firearms…

Running out of ammo is a bad thing but remember never waist that last round, just in case. Zombie chow is a bad way to go.

On a less…zombie awareness note

Props to you. Fighting is life fighting is shiney and chr-

…won’t need to fight?!? How do you expect to get to Valhalla???

I also really hope weapons like the taser and pepper spray will become useful.

I know in almost all fights they are coded to result in your instant death, but it would be quite fun to pepper spray another survivor (after all, good guys might not want to kill enemies, bad guys might not want to have to kill to retain order)

And has is been confirmed how many groups there will be? I thinks its ours, Silverthornes, and something to do with “dog” (maybe Thelma’s?) Although I haven’t properly read the code in a while.

And on the issue of fighting, I only suggest that as my main characters are hacked uh… good at combat, and I could rush in almost single handedly.

It would be much better for people with high stats in crafting or cooking to trade (although I would be very annoyed if I traded some sort of amazing trap and it is used against me!)

On the combat issue, what weapons do people usually take for primary and secondary? I currently use the AK as main, Springfield as secondary, and if I’m about to go into a crowded area kukuri as secondary.

(And does anyone still use bare hands haha)

Why ha ha? Poison main weapons are bare hands as I am killing more people than zombies sneaking a ko and then stabby stab… Time to raid. For zombie i have machete.

I suppose goodies aren’t very unarmed players

I mean, it probably would freak out enemies to see piles of dead bodies with no gunshot wounds or even cuts.

And it would certainly go a long way if you wanted everyone to see your character as some sort of chosen one/ God emperor (I am hoping my zombie cult is successful!)

Poison is my wrestler heel with extra stats (as she is supposed about enter bigger leagues) So yeah persuasion sneak and master unarmed any unaware npc are dead also a machete as second for a raider perfectly.

The simple solution to that is to include an option delegate overseeing it to Jaime or Rachel, assuming there not already leader.

Much like the earlier options to choose a profession and refuse to be leader, this allows uninterested parties to skip the content while leaving it available for people who enjoy the strategy aspect of the game, or who enjoy role-playing as a specific character Build.

The stuff is i don’t want to delegate. My character doesn’t trust that people so in millions of years would give them power. Is in fact turning two competition to hate each other.

I would want pay if need to be a no track those stuff due i will die before have to see the crafting menu. It is not Jim fault… CHOICE SCRIPT is not made for this sort of content is not intuitive. I love the Day Z premium version that a Russian developers did i have it in my phone I love also Atom rpg that have lot of tracking bullets. BUT WITH A ENGINE THAT ALLOWS eaxy management and visual clues. I don’t want have to read what i need then wonder where in heck is on the menu… then heck I have the stats due stress or not then i need more barbwire that is five menus back then remember what in hell i was doing meanwhile clock is ticking and Game engine can’t stop whining ARE YOU DONE DO YOU WANT DO MORE STUFF?

MORE I HAVEN’T MADE ANYTHING I HAVE LOST ONE FLIPPING HOUR IN MENU I COULD HAVE RAID HALF NEIGHBOURHOOD…
Then again and again with more twenty characters eaxh different stats and replay variables. That is a KILL REPLAY VALUE IN BIG bold letters

So far, aside from us, there are:

  • The Silverthorne Militia, based at a FEMA camp

  • The River Dogs, based in a factory

  • Kent mentioned an unnamed gathering of survivors they’re headed to with the family

  • The New Army

  • Rachel’s little-known friends hunkering at Clark Miller’s Piano Repair

This next list is my speculation:

  • LEGIT. Though we’ve only contacted Julianne and Deter, there are more of them.

  • The Taylors. I suspect the family got out and have either joined another community or they’re roughing it solo.

  • Thelma ran quite the crew at the store. The guard at the door was even scared of getting into shit with her. She may have her own group somewhere. I don’t see her as the type to surrender all the power she had to be apart of a larger crowd.

@Johann it certainly implies multiple pets

Yes, absolutely. Even now, they are high skill checks, mostly for combat skills. But with such varied MCs out there, I will be adding very high skill options.

You won’t have to craft or manage unless you want to. If you only want to talk to people and do romantic lake trips, that’s fine. There will be lots to do and as long as the NPC leader does well, you can survive.

Poly relationships will be possible. You may need to ease some people into it. Some NPCs are open to it, some opposed.

Wow, that’s hard code survival right there.

It’s hard to say how extensive it will be. We won’t have trade fairs but a system will be made.

As more human targets are encountered, they will be effective.

Nice list. So far, I will confirm:

* The Silverthorne Militia, based at a FEMA camp

* The River Dogs, based in a factory

* The New Army

* Thelma’s Red Mamba Biker Club.

Since code readers may find them in the variable list, the above can’t be hidden/are obvious.

There is at least 1 more though, and some smaller groups of free agents (Taylors, Makarovs, etc.)

I love Jaime but I swear if he keeps getting mad at me for deferring to his judgement we’re gonna tussle.
