Why should we even interfere with her business? You recall when we approached finn first we got the option to steal their gears yeah? If we play a high morality mc of course we wouldn’t choose it but the possibility is there. Rachel has no restriction like us so she pick that.
Like I just said, she at that point is still a leader of a group totally independent from yours, if you remember, they only join forces and elect one common leader at the battle of the hill.
Her utmost priority, her entire mission is for her chosen group to survive, she won’t agree with anything compromises it. And you’re telling her to leave the food and water which her group will definitely need it to survive because of your own moral compass.
If you read the code there are moments she’s not afraid to point her gun at you if you force her to do something but don’t have enough charm of intimidation to persuade her.
She’s a hardened, well trained soldier, not a normal civilia.
Because a moral MC wouldn’t be okay with straight-up theft. The point @Sneaks is trying to make doesn’t concern Rachel’s character but rather the MC not even being allowed to tell her off. Whether Rachel listens or not isn’t important.
So I finally came around to playing the new content. It was really good. Props to @JimD for the great experience.
I can’t even find a flaw about the whole thing, it was that good. The best parts of it for me were definitely the new conversations with the people in the camp as well as meeting up with survivors outside the group during scavenge trips. Then again, it was the content I focused on the most purely for roleplay purposes-my MC is a college student who wanted to major in Psychology, so I’d say that dealing with people, be it inside or outside her group, would definitely be her specialty.
It’s only not until now that I see the amazing replayability this game had. Back then, I’d play an impulsive, trigger happy teenager who was straightforward as hell and her strategy for people was simple-if they’re nice, be nice. If they’re not nice, rip and tear. But this new MC is much more different. She’s more…methodical, calculated, observant. Instead of rushing into the action, she’d stand back and properly assess the situation before going in-when you only have a dinky Beretta M9 and 50 in Ranged Weapons, fuck ups ain’t tolerated. Instead of being straight with survivors, she’d draw them intl long conversations to try and figure them out more. And while she was straightforward for the most part, there were hints of manipulation here and there.
Also, she’s romancing Jillie instead of Maddie. Can’t really do the latter since she’s a college student, so I picked Jillian because she has a nice butt. Not the greatest reason, but a valid reason.
And ye, that’s about it. Long story short, the update is great, the replayability is great, and Jillian’s backside is great.
Sorry, but there’s only so many times I’m willing to repeat myself, and this is the last time I’m going to say it. I don’t care about Rachel. What I want is more player agency in that scene.
That gives us an even better reason to go and spy on him. I can literally see it unfold in front of my eyes. Our whole group sits down to discuss what to do about the Silverthornes because, keith has told the mc that he had killed people who hadn’t been tough enough or had opposed his word or rule or whatever. So the choice pops up suggesting that we go covert and find a weakness and destroy the Silverthornes because they can be a threat. Some might suggest the that we leave, some suggest we go in guns blazin then Rachel might suggest (or support the mc if we choosen the covert thing already) the idea of a clandestine investigation.
Whoa. Where are all these moments? The scene whereby the MC tries to take Finn’s bags from her and chooses to attack is the only time Rachel retaliates with a gun.
I have to report a Ghost case if I play with all extra points a character not from previous part. I found My self with Dante ghost. He appears in camp and Nora os super excited about him being part of comunity. However it appears dead on stats menu and i can’t selected him to giving him tasks Later on i found and bury his body and since that moment he is official dead.
I can’t found my kitty until tons of beta replays and final release WHERE IS MY KITTY I WANT TITUS BACK I CAN’T STILL PLAYING WITHOUT HIM. PEOPLE TOTALLY OPTIONAL…
I have let people died to up titus to the hill. I give shit who dies where is kitty? I can’t keeping going without my cat… @JimD if I have to sacrifice Kelly Parker Jaime Nora etc to bring kitty back totally worthwhile. KITTY… i need you…
Also I want option kill Parker right there when he tried to lamely take my insulin for him when i say NO YOU WON’T HAVE MY INSULIN… coward … I swear i would have killed right there. or tossed to him a Molotov like i did with the sniper.
The problem with that is it sounds like you’re suggesting infiltration into the Silverthornes which normally I would have no problem with but, Keith and the other 3 know what you look like along with a lot of other people in our group(thanks for that as well Kelly ) So, unless everyone managed to capture Benton, kill the other 2 and magically avoid Keith that complicates infiltration.
That only seems to work if you had people hide in the woods if you didn’t then they were possibly seen by the Silverthornes. Also we don’t know what information was extracted from Madison, Brody and Jaime or anybody else the Silverthornes talked too. Because while Keith was talking to us in order to find out more information about our group Benton and company were probably doing the same thing when “it looked like both of the groups were getting along.” It was just manipulating members of the group so they feel comfortable enough to lower their guard and give intel about the group. Yes Rachel is an actual Spy and should be the one leading/handling a mission that includes Espionage, but the choices of the player as it relates to handling the arrival of the Silverthornes could make the possible mission of espionage theoretically harder if you were trusting with Keith or honest with him. As well as what Kelly told them on the way to our campsite and any other information that was told to them.
You could use Kelly as a spy, Keith wants her so he would be low on guard. Also who would think she was a spy?^^ And if she gets discovered, we lost no real value, k that was mean, but I am no big hipster fan^^
I’d rather not lose anyone, if we can avoid it. Kelly and Parker may not be fighters, but they have their own uses/roles within the group. We just don’t know what they are yet.
They’ll have to learn how to fight eventually or they won’t make it, They can’t expect the group to always be there to protect them. Honestly, I think Kelly is making a better effort than Parker. Since she came up with the idea to go to the Gas Station on her own and actually makes a decent negotiator (when under supervision to stop her from blabbing away) while Parker did want a chance to prove himself he seemed more interested in getting his insulin than wanting to help the group get more supplies. (I’m not saying he didn’t care about the group getting supplies, I’m saying it seemed like his primary reason for wanting to go was to make sure his needs were met.) I also think him possibly being shot was pitiful to the point that it was verging on laughable because, I’m starting to see him as a butt monkey.
Parker was a curator at a museum - there are skills he has that may not be of immediate day-to-day use with a migrating/traveling group, but once settled will manifest for us to use.
Then there is the idea of being humane and humanity - protecting the weak so they survive is part of that idea post -Enlightenment …
People Mara needs personal helping SHE HAS FALLING IN LOVE FOR KEITH. NO KIDDING. She pointed his gun at him Him pointed at her same time and looking to his eyes while talking about raiding and controlling all those weak people. So she wants Keith.
About PARKER HE IS DEAD I SWEAR I WILL POISON THE INSULIN ASHOLE. HE LEFT MARA FIGHT ÀLONE. Then return and wanted STOLE MY INSULIN almost trying to fight with me… he could be glad of have plot armor.
I don’t think the weak should always expect the strong to be able to look after them especially in a setting where danger is around every corner and you don’t even know if you’ll live to see tomorrow( which is true with real life also to a certain degree. the not knowing if you’ll live to see tomorrow part.) I think those that are weak or perceived as should be motivated to become stronger not hide in the shadow of their would be protector because then they won’t gain that independence and confidence from being taught the skills to survive. While relying on a protector won’t allow you to grow as a person and if you always rely on a guardian to keep you safe without learning from them you’d be as good as dead when you lose them or you find yourself in a position where they aren’t around to save you. I mean if we look at our relationship with the nephew we are his guardian yes, but we’re also teaching him the skills he needs to survive because, we realize we aren’t in a world where he can afford to be helpless and we can’t say that “we will always be their to keep him safe so there’s no need to teach him how to survive on his own.” Because, not teaching him or anyone the tools they need in this situation lowers their chances of survival which is what I could see happening to Parker or the nephew if we spent too much time sheltering them and shielding them instead of teaching them how to survive.
In fairness, the MC is given the option to teach other survivors combat skills as well. Realistically, not all survivors will be able to be “fighters”; for some, the most to hope for is for all to eventually be able to put up basic self defense. From a tit-for-tat perspective, these survivors are an investment who may not be of much immediate use to the group but will pay off in other ways further along. And like the MC can tell Kelly, not all contributions come through muscles or bullets. Much like a scientist MC without combat skills may very well play a role in defeating the virus itself, as long as the other survivors take the burden of heavy lifting early on.
From the ethical view you’ve mentioned, it’s arguable that Parker has an obligation to seek to better protect himself through combat. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the MC has no responsibility to protect those who can’t. As a leader, if not the leader of the group, the MC has the opportunity to affect not just the state of inter- but also intra-group interactions. The more of a hardline approach you take to the environment, the more likely the environment is to reflect that stance over time. Perhaps you’re right in insisting that hard times in the apocalypse call for these metrics, but I think methods for creating a world that doesn’t subsist purely on principles of survival of the fittest or warmongering are worth considering.
Eiwynn does not say that Parker is useless or that he will not learn or evolve to become a little more autosufficient. Everyone has their pros and cons, something in what is good and what is bad. That someone is not good at confrontation and/or defense, does not mean that it is useless.
Everyone has a purpose, something that they are good at and that in the end, can help build a new and functional society.
I imagine that like real life, some learn faster than others and that should not be a motivation to stop helping. In a “world” that it has too much death, I think that every life is valuable and should be protected.
But I can see the logic to your points.
