Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven General Discussion (Part 3 beta coming in December)

It’s less about him not hunting the makarovs down, and more about giving him a life beyond that vengeance. To make it one goal out of many, instead of an all consuming obsession.

Yes i agree with your opinion too , i will mildly try to change Tommy’s mindset just because i don’t want him to live in pain that will wither him from the inside, Tommy is talented… and he did well to watch out for us in waterfall , he could be core member to help us rebuild civilisation … so he shouldn’t concentrate too much on vengeance, but if he somehow meet markarov like Jillian want to kill driver , i won’t stand in front of him like i did with Jillian with one of my MC… oh well, part of me was also testing how much Jillian care for me to forget about vengeance , i am happy Jillian didn’t shot me :-):stuck_out_tongue:

In Tommy case, i also don’t want Tommy simply run off to find Markarov on his own out of vengeance… i will most likely tell Tommy

" Look at me Tommy, i promise i will help you seek justice if we meet Markarov again… Faith will deliver them to us in judgement day , time is set but it is not now… Help me keep the group save and rebuild civilisation together , serve the call of our Faith and justice will be delivered to our doorstep one day " :-):stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Agree with you fully @Disciple

Thanks. I also want to address the nephews apparent forced apathy and have another cry/hugathon to help him work thru his suppressed trauma.

With how Tommy’s acting and stewing on this it seems unlikely he’s good with one day we’ll get them. When it’s something that’s always on his mind. Also he might not care enough about the group to wait. I can see that working at first, but if you keep pushing the groups needs before his, I can see him just going off on his own since he helped the group but you keep insisting he waits longer. Judgement day isn’t always worth waiting for when you can get your revenge sooner rather than later.

Ahhh you made me run out of likes. Never happened before. I simply love these nice discussions, I like getting the opinions of Others. It adds a really interesting point of view sometimes.
Btw. who do think Killer Evan and left a zombie trisha in the abandoned Camp? There was something to scavenge, so I do not think it was the Makarovs, and Keith seemed sincere when he told my mc that they left them alive.

I think that’s a coping mechanism he has/is using to appear strong.

Based on the scene Tommy with us in the waterfall , i actually sense he was genuinely happy with us, he likes us and the twins, he feel at home with us…

I feel that he would dedicate his life protecting us , i also read that Tommy constantly stand by me as self proclaim bodyguard , that’s why in earlier post i also mention Tommy is my enforcer , no mutiny will get to me with Tommy around :-):hugs:

@Kaelyn many think it was Markarov, but many also think it was Leather Jack , they said something about missing Skin from Evan’s wife but i can’t confirm… i think it was Jack

True it appears he likes the twins but, that doesn’t mean he won’t be hurt because you keep putting off his needs in fact that would just make the pain worse because he’s been there for you but you haven’t returned the favor.

In his journal he talks about running into Keith a couple days before he dies.

The Makarovs don’t leave valuables behind. I think it might be Benton, but in one of my playthroughs he said that Madison reminded him of his sister and he was staring at her because of this, but I do not know if this is true^^

Leather Jack has to be an older person right? Has the story been 20 years old or something like that. I seem to remember that it was a older story.

@CreoleGuy519 thats right, and Keith says that they met the couple but left them to think about joining them. He also says, that he explicitly ordered Natalie and Benton to not go back to them. And my high empathy char felt that was true.

Not sure about Jack’s age , i need to read again … but it could be his son or copycat ?

But you are right it could be Benton , keith just want them to join and the deadline given was not up yet…

About Jack, what if he start wearing facial skin of a younger person ?

Edit : Had been replaying the game and notice that we can’t really blame Markarov for killing Tommy’s mother, it was O leary who bite her and she was turning into Zombie already …

In retrospect that is likely, but a coping mechanism can get out of control and cause the individual more harm than good.

What do you suggest we do for him ? or what can we do?

If you know that then you should also know his response: " Shut up. She was alive when I left. Now she’s dead. Stabbed in her neck." Tommy’s voice is low and harsh. “People did this to her. Maybe she would have died anyway, but maybe it would have been days from now. Or hours, but they stole that from her, stole it from me. I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye or have her say my name once more. If she was going to die so be it. The people who broke in my house killed her and had no right to do it.” (we shouldn’t say 1 part of the story and not include the other)

One of my ideas was to make him responsible for one or more of the other members, either as a part of his assigned duties, or in a mentor or trainer aspect. having him help the nephew in his athletics training could work. Bailey and Kelly are also possible people for him to train or look out for.

The reverse could also work. I think Lopez or Nora could serve as good mentors. Brody would make an excellent friend to look out for him.

We could also try a more hands on approach. Taking him with us on missions, placing him in charge of a scavenging group, or encouraging him to play with and look after our pet.

Are you talking about Tommy ? I was trying to start a discussion based off of what you described as the nephew’s lack of emotion to the constant death that’s around him

I didn’t tell Tommy this respond … i just tell him his mother is in better place , and he displays gratitute for that … that’s the reason in my playthrough, Tommy was less angry and more grateful

Nor did I, I’m just saying that you having that line of thinking and saying technically the virus killed her and we shouldn’t blame the Makarovs doesn’t change the reality or the fact that they took away her final moments, moments that as Tommy said could have been spent with the son that loved her.

I understand , and not meant to defend the Markarov for their action, but it was based on logical perception , assuming we didn’t know Markarov are bad people …

As outsiders, without prejudice we never know whether Markarov shot her when she was turning into zombie… or they shot her before she was turn

In Zombie Exodus, the last moment with that little girl who had been bitten, i delay the inevitable until the final moment before pulling the trigger , that seems to be the better choice of that game, when i delay longer hoping for a miracle … the girl turn and could kill us as zombie .
Hence , objectively thinking, that O leary zombie was the first person who kill her, Markorov could had done the same when robbing the house , but we will never know what they will do if tommy mother was not a zombie , since they spare Kelly…

Of course we couldn’t reason with someone who was in grieve , but i am not going to manipulate the worse situation either…

Well for one we need to create an environment that provokes a feeling of safety. Our tent will have to do.

next we get him comfortable by doing something familiar he enjoys. Reading a comic book together would be great, but sharing a cup of hot cocoa would do in a pinch.

After this we need to provoke emotion from him. A photo album would be handy to have. We would start with light hearted stories about strangers. Then pick one that died before the accident. Move back to happy memories, this time about family members. Bring up one about his mother. Directly address the issue of her death. Comfort our nephew before voicing our concerns and stating our beliefs about what makes the excess apathy a negative.

Obviously this would occur over the course of several scenes on different nights. It would be helpful if we had someone else to give there own, thought out opinion on the subject, so our nephew has more than one perspective to consider, and can’t simply accept or reject our points without examining his own feelings.
