Bailey was a college student when the outbreak hit, as far as I remember and Kelly was a full time reporter, I guess. Its been a long time since I played part oneđ¤
Kellys not being to deal with this side of humanity(or lack thereof) could boil down to her being relatively new to the job(I donât rememeber how long she worked) and being stuck in her glory days from highschool, until she losts the election giving her a reality check⌠not sure if sheâs dumb or simply naive when she brought the Silverthornes though.
I get the feeling Jillian came from an unstable home and didnât quite fit in her school, which became factors into how she ended up with Lyle and as con artist despite the only thing she knows how to use well is her body.
Meanwhile Maddie seems to become MVP real quick with the only thing holding her back is the shit that comes from being a teen(like the teen MC).
Canât really add much to Bailey since she doesnât get much screentime.
As Johann said Bailey and kelly donât have a big age gap, I think Bailey has like 20-22 and Kelly has 24-27.

Youâd be right. According to the conversations with her, she was picked on a lot in school-back then, she was a chubby girl with crooked teeth and old hand-me-downs for clothes. She only had a few friends and tended to avoid people and social situations as much as possible.
It wasnât until she graduated that she blossomed as a woman.
Her job consisted entirely of reviewing bars and clubs around the city. Wasnât exactly the most serious, hard hitting form of journalism.
Madisonâs definitely a top tier survivor. And Baileyâs already above average, along with having a desire to learn and just a nice, simple personality that contrasts with all the crazy weâve got so far.

Baileyâs a bit interesting, because her interactions indicate a really sheltered home life (and not necessarily a happy one - thereâs an MC interaction when sheâs an RO where she talks about her mother making her tear all the pages out of a borrowed book her mother disapproved of).
I think thatâs one reason I like the character. She doesnât have the advantage of extra survival training that Madison has, yet sheâs converted her athletics skill over. Takes guts to face the zombies with a melee weapon. Give the girl some survival training and sheâll surpass the older survivors quickly.

Is anyone gonna mention how Maddie has higher R.W. skill than the 3 who are military trained, to which one of them won 2nd place in a national shooting competition?

You think thatâs impressive, Tommy has a higher hand to hand combat than any other NPC in the group and higher athletics than Lopez. If he didnât have a weapon and had to fight a person he could probably beat them mercilessly.

I always saw the teenâs stats relative to their age. It obviously doesnât play out this way in gameplay so itâs mostly a headcanon thing but Madisonâs science and ranged weapon stats donât compare to those of Parkerâs or Lopezâs; the former has higher education (Maddie would only know high school-level science) and the latter is probably experienced with multiple guns (I think Maddie was only trained with a rifle?).

Driver- lvl5 in driving (I know shocking)
I also noticed Dante has a pretty nice skilset with lvl4 in athletics, H.H.C, C.C.W and search.

I donât think itâs that hard to keep it above 60. Actually sometimes I accept Rosie and Driver in the group bc I donât want Jillian to hog all RO interaction scenes. If you save Lyle, you have high empathy and you are nice to them the day before even when their ruse is over then itâs hard to do wrong. Normally Jillian doesnât even attack Rosie in my playthroughs.
Anyway about her skills. I think since the only maxed out skill she has is persuasion and her empathy or stealth skills are low that might explain why she is a bad con artist (lack of stealth skill explaines why she is caught red handed and I guess without the ability to read people persuasion isnât that useful either).

@Johann has a good memory. Kelly is a reporter, but she was primarily restricted to entertainment/fluff pieces like restaurant reviews, dog shows, etc.
As for age, it was assumed that Kelly is mid to late 20âs. She graduated with a degree in journalism, so that would put her at least 22-23 (many people end up going five years). Additionally, it is highly unlikely she was given her job fresh off the street, so it is reasonable to assume she spent at least 1 or 2 more years working her way up the chain.
