Are you aware that it’s possible to make arrows so you can refill your quiver ? which solves the problem of using your arrows and makes up for the fact that we can’t retrieve them because they’re fairly easy to make.
Okay people I think all of you know me already so won’t freak out that I am a hater when @JimD is my friend. However, as tester more for a friend my main compromise is with give a sincere opinion about everything. Good and bad.
So after the disclaimer @JimD you asked in Newsletter that you wanted that players experience three types of experience about leadership.
I just did the sheep follower route… And I recognize that i am all contrary in tastes to be the sheep so maybe I am biased. Being a follower only is BORING BORING BORING BORINGGGGGGG. I was dreaming for game ended after doing chores and chores and seen being treated as a npc in Bethesda. I was about expect that my character said “I was an adventurer like you …” Jaime has to die for being WORST LEADER EVER he has zero skills and zero idea group is a wrecked something no idea as Jaime has zero idea WHERE IS TOM HE WAS FAR BETTER…
I was about of grab a gattling and solve the issue dictator way. Like
WTF ARE YOU DOING MORON… BUILD DEFENSIVE MEASURES AND SOLVE THE LATRINES OR I WILL POO IN YOUR FACE…
WHY IS NOONE HUNTING…
Where is water recollection I HAVE TWO GENERators abd one is DAMN SOLAR… .
Chill Mara shhh
Why is he so lame also how way to go at the silverhorns…
Now I think this could make a good premise If you let me stole the group for him and maybe ally other groups to TEAR THE BEAR . But it was dull choose stuff but feeling forced to do chores to npc that is incomprehensible. I am too grumpy and to dominant to let a headless guy calling the shots
I think I said it before, but in reference to @poison_mara 's complaint, I don’t really like playing leader because of the micromanagment and it doesn’t make sense for a majority of my characters, but how a non-leader character has to go out of their way to improve the campsite annoys me so much. Sure, maybe they take their own initiative- but having one person build all the defenses, amenities, doctor everyone, train people, AND be expected to go on watch and supply runs? Really?
And no options to yell at the leader like ‘um so i just built us a fence and ditch and solar power things, and I doctored everyone, could you pull finger and do shit pls’.
I don’t know if this could be fixed at a later stage, but I hope this is addressed at some point, even if it happens next episode.
I find myself not experiencing more of the game I ‘should’ have access to as a non-leader because I’m too busy doing the leaders jobs for them.
There’s not much gameplay changing regardless of whoever is the leader. They still ask you for your opinion on important matters, you still get the same option (your way or their way).
I just dump the group assignment task to rachel. She’s more efficient at working our slaves… I mean teammates than jaime
I agree totally. That was my impression Is like I were a slave doing EVERYTHING and feeling
Or i made EVERYTHING or the rest won’t do shit Jaime is like a five years kid .
I know feel guilty not have played as not leader or manipulative during testing to notice this. I just expected that it was like in first game with Jaime instead Tom.
It is not like that Tom Mindy were competent and others Felt like doing stuff. Here @JimD sorry to say this felt us player that you are a farmer npc while the rest are drinking mojitos doing nothing. Maybe you have to spending time building a routine or something that dilutes that feeling. However I don’t role that way so maybe I am biased.
Also I felt my choices in big decision should be far less. Public vote and you could try changing vote by any means like blackmail persuasion etc… but they will vote whatever. That’s reallt not be a leader
HERE YOU ARE A WEIRD MIDDLE slave in chores but you give the choice that hasn’t sense as role-playing the story
I see the three Parts as having different goals.
Part 1 – you vs. the apocalypse.
Part 2 – struggling to survive with strangers. You still have to rely on yourself but can start asking others to pitch in.Reilly cooks, Woody and Gina build, Rachel scavenges, etc.
Part 3 – a group has formed and now you either lead it, let others lead, or take a middle role.
Most players want to be leaders and do everything or want to take no part in leadership. A minority want to have some impact on the group but not be leader.
I can’t see how this is bad. Choice in a choice game is good, right?
I don’t know, I think it pays to remember the situation. Our characters at that point were literally awake for more than 24 hours. I could totally see the rest of the group, absent proper motivation and a leader to kick their bums in gear, sitting down and taking it easy for a change.
Like, the defenses you can make include a trench worth an hour of work, barbed wire, and a crude palisade/earthworks deal. None of that is “easy”.
And the medical care, I mean Benji isn’t around for long you know? Without him and without the MC taking on medical needs, I took it as the rest of the survivors not paying enough attention to their wounds during the time skip.
I thought there were only two options in here, lead or be (somewhat) led but a middle way/influencer path is a fine addition. More choice in a choice game, especially with regards to how you want to play, is great stuff.
I was thinking about possible ways to exterminate the Silverthornes I found it out you have to buld a milltary and start recruiting pepole in the grop the start and then recruiting in your milltary
2 option. Operation Silverthorne freedom it sounds like most of the pepole don’t want to be in the group. Go out start scouting and recurring into your group. Ask for volunteers. Then start training them. Remember you should have different branches that specialize in different things like the merchants ( army) the devil dogs ( United States Marine Corps baby) the dophins couldn’t think of better name ( Navy) the air men( aka air foce unless youb can find planes and helicopters these will be usless). Remember you need special foces and need colonel for all them. The brown beret ( aka green berets they go into the army branch. my main mc Don was a green beret so he colonel his specal unit wil be the 2 best his unit Specializes in counterterrorism their will still be terrorism, traing other tribes to fight against the Silverthornes and maybe the nee army, guerrilla warfare, direct action, recon, hand to hand combat, protecting vip and guarding important places in the Centennial state, for advanced members like my mc sometimes spying, the second in command is Tommy I am his mentor.) Next the Boogeyman(aka cia sad their Colonel will be Rachel. They specialize in counterterrorism, counter-intelligence,Hand to hand combat, demolition, advance recon, propaganda. Thr second is Bailey rachel is Bailey mentor like my mv is Tommy mentor. They)Next the sharks(aka navy seals brah there colonel is brody. By no surprise Madison us second in command. These guys specialized in in mostly everything the brown beret except traing other tribes and they are not as smart but they are better physical if these had skills the brow physical fitness would be at five but the sharks would seven the brown beret and navy seals both have master ranged wepons. Finally the best group delta(aka Delta Force they know all the skills from all the other groups they recurt from all units.
For summry gather a milltary and train them. But get special forces in your milltary
Hahaha… I like to have the option too.
Just curious but is there any way to kill some silverthornes after meeting them without losing anyone? In my opinion, any group that has someone (cough, Natalie Army intelligence lady) willing to pull a gun on a cat or 8 year old kid is seriously… stupid? Like I get why you wanna keep an eye on a dog, cause dogs can actually cause some serious damage but why the cat or the kid? Point being, I saw the option to “overpower Keith and use his life as leverage” option. Anyone know the stat requirements for that?
It’s actually not stupid to pull a gun on the kid because people care about the nephew so they’re less likely to fight back or resist if a kid is in harms way or would be killed as a result of fighting back. Honestly it’s a clever way to gain leverage of the situation since they’re outnumbered. I suppose threatening the cat could cause a similar effect.
I had a close combat level of 7 but you actually don’t overpower him both of you just pull your weapons on each other and threaten each other(if you’re successful.)
Remind me again, does high willpower actually mitigate effects of delusions?
Has anyone managed to scavenge the neighbor’s house with high willpower, without being chased by the cloaked man?
So what will part 4 be? if we actually get there, that is of course.
I was playing Zombie Exodus(NOT safe haven). And in the beginning in the mission of saving Carl, Javier gives you some guns that don’t seem to jam which is highly beneficial if you are fighting zombies. So it seemed like JimD got rid of one of the obvious problems which can arise while handling automatic guns or pistols.
So I was wondering if there can be a few scenes in future parts to come where in middle of a fight, your gun jams which is if you’re using a glock pistol or something similar since revolvers don’t jam. My point is, I would love to play a scene/mission where the problems just seem to pile over each other. Problems that can be solved only if you choose something stat suitable or something like that. But, (in my personal opinion) I really want a scene where your gun jams and you have to find some other way out of the situations.
Throwing roadblock after roadblock at players usually ends up in total frustration and being turned away from the game.
While I am sure Jim will be looking to throw interesting and varied challenges at us, I doubt it will be a case of “one thing after another piling on each other” …
I don’t even think there would be enough interest for a possible dlc of this nature from the fanbase.
Isn’t… Isn’t that every problem, though? You can’t save Lyle and Jillian if you don’t pick choices that reflect your stats.
Unless you mean problems that can only be solved by a specific stat which would get old really fast and kinda defeats the point of playing how you want.
That is a bad decision many new game masters fall when Starting make missions. And is a clear indication that they are newbies. I will explain.
They artificially put barriers that ONLY ONE type of character can make and they keep anď keep putting them over and over the same barriers tailored but only one type of character the one they as players love to play to feel like their choice skills are the best and smug with sufficiently to players and saying YOU SUCK the best way to play is being a warlock"
But it is an interactive media you can’t put barriers that only place and used is alienating 90% of players to only a ten percent could bragging about How their min max character is the only winner.
Then what is point 9f other powers? None as people will feel forced to use something don’t like just to end game . The commentaries starts to become “I will love use X characteristics but i can’t stop failure and my gun jam so what i should use instead” Frustration that leading to many people stop trying.
I have never seen a gun on my life i will not know what to do and i won’t understand what it happens. I will become paranoid after happens and die a million of times so i will never choose gun at all.
A good game master (as jim is) never add a artificially problemthat serves as a barrier to most players. Handicaps should come from plot and being solved at least for three different stats
Am I reading this correctly?
For me a jamming a gun is to much. Imagine if you were raiding the Silverthornes and intense gun fighting is going on your out so put a new magazine for your m16 you start shooting but it jams. That would take me out Role-playing a little bit. Unless you have sidearm but my sidearm is 1911 so most pepole chacter would be fucked and the only skill for reparing guns is crafting so I and many other players may fill like force to pick the skill
