Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven General Discussion (Part 3 beta coming in December)

Due to spoilers, this will be blurred. Yes, he is related and will appear in Part 3.

No, not even close.

Yes, you can explore other relationships.

Where do you all think the River Dogs will fit into the narrative of Part 3? I hear a lot of talk of the Silverthornes.

I think they’ll make excellent trading partners and will be an integral part in building a trade network (if possible). I’m not sure if I’d want their help in a fight against other survivors maybe use them as a diversion ? But based off of the way they describe themselves I don’t think they’re role is combat oriented which I’m fine with because they potentially offer something that benefits both of our groups which I’m fine with. You don’t have to be a fighter just be useful in some sort of way.

That sounds like a consequence of the MC/player being honest or foolish(depending on how you look at it) enough to tell some strangers where they live or worse lead them(Kelly). So I don’t think that is a problem for MC’s who isn’t that trusting of strangers. If you did do that then I can see that happening to you.

I think the River Dogs seem like natural buddies. They’re a group of pals and their families - so long as we don’t cross them or act hostile, I think they could be good allies for our group. The danger is if they get really hungry in future parts of the series… maybe they get desperate enough to try stealing from us?

@JimD I love you but What do you think Mara opinion is lol.

Mara:Wet dogs? Are they a euphemism or something?

Me. No Mara the group of the lame guy that beg for food and almost spill all his secrets

AH DOG FOOD…I TOTALLY ON BOARD RAIDING lame rivers of Babylon that’s a cool song…

Me
Mara:I will Raid them and show Keith how Sexy I can be… i mean how good raider…

Now sincere opinion. I don’t care. As you won’t let me destroying them and is no way Evil characters will helping them being so damn lame. I would use them as trading route or offering protection in exchange products. but they are
1 stupid
2 starving

Because of this, I have hope that Mindy will reappear as a survivor to meet. It’d be sick since it’d be like ZE all over again! Realistically though I understand as to why @JimD would not add that interaction in since ZESH is different from ZE. But I’m happy to hear regardless that there will be other survivors to meet.

They’re a decently sized and well rounded group who have somewhat of a grasp on how to survive. They’ve got a good albeit temporary base, their method of approaching other survivors is optimal (friendly but cautious) and they overall seem like an alright bunch who’d make for excellent trading allies.

I always give them 100 rations of food. And while there is the whole “it’s nice to be nice” thought process, there’s also a more pragmatic side to this decision. The way I see it, it’s an investment. They clearly have the potential to thrive in this apocalypse-they’re just in a pickle when it comes to food, which could easily cripple them in major ways. So I give them the whole lot of food-100 rations is absolutely nothing, especially if you get lucky with hunting-watch the wholesome charade of Joe tearing up and thanking us and then move on.

When they get their shit together, starting making progress and improvements and become a kickass group of survivors, they’ll remember the hand who fed them. They’ll remember the survivor in shining armor who helped them in their time of need. They’ll be cooperative. They’ll be trusting.

I can use that.

Honestly I’m still trying to figure out the narrative. That’s what has the most of my attention presently.

Part 1, we get thrown head first into the apocalypse. We get to see how things have drastically changed then end off with saving Jaime from his own group.

Part 2 was much more subdued, consisting of the survival element and focusing on the characters with new appearances by Finn, Church and Gina. Stellar, yes. But just as we’re beginning to relax, we meet Keith who, based on the poll from earlier, is generally viewed as the main antagonistic force. That makes it easy to assume there’ll be some kind of big fight in the end but I know @JimD won’t make it so straightforward.

The Silverthornes aren’t a simple group of killers. There’s plenty of pragmatism in the way they operate amd that’s what I love so much about them. There were other additions to the cast such as Kent, Harriet and Ed’s family, the River Dogs, Eli and Jude. Because many characters were introduced, predicting the next bit of the general narrative is difficult, but I’ll try.

What’s about to follow are my best guesses for Part 3, opinions, observations and what I found out through a lot of digging:

Eli tows our vehicle and takes us to his junkyard. The Silverthornes may know about this location. I think this will be as close to a permanent base as we’re going to get. We’ll probably be able to set up defenses like usual and maybe even build structures. I’m sure if we do things like this to prove our worth, Eli would be willing to keep us in the junkyard. Or we could just assert our authority and take over whether he likes it or not. Someone still has to tell the poor guy he won’t be getting his newspapers delivered anymore.

Now, here’s something interesting. If we chose to think about Keith’s offer, accept it or decline it, he said he’d be coming back either way. He wouldn’t know about our move out of the hilltop so that means the Silverthornes have lost us, at least temporarily. If we fought back and captured Benton, the Silverthornes wouldn’t be returning so soon. Benton tells us so. Basically, regardless of how we treated the Silverthornes, we end up disappearing in their eyes.

There will be different approaches to Eli but I like to think that would affect how he welcomes us to his yard initially more than anything.

A new base would come with new activities such as scouting the area, talking to the other characters and missions. I can’t even begin to imagine what kind of missions we’ll have during Part 3. Maybe we’ll be able to actively go looking for these Makarovs. One item on my wishlist is going to a university or research facility to gather or simply use equipment for a cure and collect other supplies. I did see mention of a teen mission of some kind on Patreon but I wouldn’t be able to say anything about it even if I knew all the details.

We know that the River Dogs are holed up in a factory not too far from us and I imagine we will get to meet them again if we, say, go exploring. Maybe we can go to them or they wander over to our turf. How we interacted with them, if at all, would obviously matter. I’m speculating here but I suspect the Silverthornes got to them. It could be that they refused the offer and fled the location in case the militia come back for them (the Dogs seem like a good bunch and I don’t think they’d be willing to be part of a group as ruthless as Keith’s, at least not now anyway). When we meet again, that could be our common ground. Because they’re possibly on the move with all their gear, they may be open to trading. I’m sure they’ll find somewhere else to sleep without our help (again).

Perhaps Thelma’s group is the only one not aware of the Silverthornes. I can’t say much else because we haven’t even met a single member of the biker group but Thelma is definitely in charge in some capacity and will remember us if we remind her.

Jude and his New Army buddies may cause some friction for us later on. Our soldier’s mission will definitely begin taking shape in Part 3 too.

I can almost guarantee some internal conflict within our own group. We haven’t properly dealt with Rachel yet, people may want to leave, Kelly could’ve been taken and people may want to try get her back.

To conclude, I think we may have a chance to face the Silverthornes again. We’ll have options for sure. Like do we sneak in, do we walk in through the front door (which won’t go too badly if we agreed to join them), do try to engage them in peace talks etc.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see until…

I know this is a bit off topic but when you train the group as a master in a skill, is the reward greater? Haven’t been able to check this yet.

In fact that’s the tactic I will follow when part 3 will be out give them food. However i like their reaction to someone that is sincere ruthless. And I think that’s a mercy and a useful experience.

Look River dogs society as we known Is DEAD. You can’t go telling people where you are and those stuff You are acting like morons. Looking lame You have to apparent be strong and being useful as trade or something.

Sincerely Their description made me feel out of immersion. Who being so oblivious and so lame could survive five minutes. They are the only group in game that are not credible. They are typical movie troupe I almost imagine a Highlight text underneath the guys saying GOOD PEOPLE PROTECTED BY PLOT ARMOUR

They are put in stories to goodies players could feel special and say LOOK HOW CHARITABLE I AM… SEE SEE … i am remembering certain experiences as kid when Other’s called me things for role-playing evil.

I am wanting a CREDIBLE friendly npc to allied with. One that is not kneeling in street begin for food as are totally stupid to not raid or scavenging. HOW CAN THEY SURVIVE SO LONG…

My bet as friendly group cool to ally is Thelma and Mambas. With Riverdogs could be annex them and Make some sort of village when they could learn to behave like logical and kids can be taught not everyone has to fight so they could do all civilian stuff when I made the scavenging and defensive part as they are too naive for it.

Except that you can kill them all.

Yeah Well Mara didn’t try killing them as they’re not a thread. I mean they aren’t like White and Cowboy that had tons of stuff and guns. Mara just don’t go murdering everyone just because. Being lame is not a excuse She will have no problem to raid their base trying talking first if not :gun: Maybe could be good for them in overall as they seem totally incapable of survival in long term.

Could i give 100 food if they get parker with them… I TOTALLY pay for get rid of him
