And like @Eriedanna stated, sometimes the storyline will call for a characterâs death and the player can help save the character if he or she so chooses.
@spike08 I may add an opportunity to talk to Jason in chapter 1 and discuss the fight if he is saved. Thatâs a great idea.
@mattnoles Iâm happy to discuss anything about ZE. First off, the title of my app has Zombie in it, which is a popular topic. So, I know that has an effect on downloads.
Beyond that, I promote just as much as I write the game. I have a Facebook page, Twitter account, ask for reviews from bloggers and app sites, do paid marketing (though Iâve stopped that), and anything else I can think of. If you donât market your game, your only sources of new readers are from CoGâs association (their Web site gets hits) and word of mouth.

I chose to break my game up, because the biggest complaints I see in app reviews are (1) the games are too short and (2) games donât update fast enough. My strategy was to make more frequent updates and keep people engaged. I donât want them forgetting Zombie Exodus. So, I post beta chapters in between releases and add new content when possible.
Pricing is mostly up to CoG but they take authorsâ suggestions. I donât know if pricing ZE in the free/paid model is better or worse than charging $0.99 outright. I liked the pricing model of the Choice of Romance games, so I am glad that is the model of ZEâs pricing. It is more exposure to ask people to download a free sample and pay for more content than getting them to trust an unknown author upfront. Apex Patrol is written by Allen Gies who wrote Marine Raiders, which is the most downloaded hosted games app, so he was not an unknown author when Apex Patrol came out.
Also, in-app advertising is not to be underestimated. If you write a longer story with replay value, a considerable amount of revenue can come from the adverts at the bottom of the app.
Revenue sharing is best answered by CoG.

Aspergerâs Syndrome is a condition that makes it very difficult for people to tell what is socially acceptable in a given situation and therefore act like a jerk because they have no idea theyâre doing so.
