My guess has always been that the zombies don’t decide what flesh is by sight but by it smelling fresh and alive , feeling warm, and by hearing a heart beat.
@shoelip I gave a bit of reasoning in my intro but will elaborate more in later chapters:
Here is the passage from the scene in Emma’s apartment. A news anchor is providing this news, after interviewing a doctor of virology:
"Dr. Willis went on to explain the virus affects primitive areas of the brain and acts as a parasite which rewires the nervous system of the host to take over functions of the body. Infected become aggressive, attempting to bite or otherwise injure others and pass on the virus. "
So the zombies are basically just trying to reproduce. Talk about instinct.
so is chapter 2 out yet
Should be tomorrow – half of chapter 2 which is as big as chapter 1.
Yay!
well i better clear 3 hours to play thoroughly lol
I am looking forward to it.
Zombie Exodus, Part 3, Chapter 2 is now up! Sort of…
A few things though:
– There are 4 major paths to take, and 1 is currently available for everyone to read. The other parts are not done yet, but I didn’t want to hold up the first major path so that updates are not too far apart.
– The first path has a bit of a cliffhanger.
– This section is fairly complex. I included a lot of choices and flexibility. Please let me know if you feel there are too many choices, not enough story, or you enjoyed it. For those who like to try every path, please try to break the game and see if choices do not provide a smooth transition.
– Due to the complexity, I realize now, it is not a long section but I will expand it.
As always, I am open to criticism and feedback.
For ease of reading, I included a table of contents to skip to Part 3, Chapter 2.
Thanks!
Pretty short but really good
Forgot to mention whats with the computer
Aznxa If you search the room, you will find a code for the computer.
–If you chose to spend your time getting food and water, the stats for those things do not change.
I managed to get my relationship score with Emma to below 50, but she still added butter to my oatmeal. You can start trying to add places where your relationship with her has an effect. I understand she will always be nice to you because you’re family, but you can put a limit on how nice she is.
Questions: What is the age range for Emma? Did the zombie at the consol let you inside of the building by its own will or was it just going through the motions it was frozen in when it got gassed?
I recently came across this and I must say: I absolutely it! Especially the group aspect and the choices you can make. Your writing skills are totally awesome. I’m eagerly waiting for the next chapter. Well, that’s that. :- ) Just posting this comment to show you my appreciation for this wonderful game.
@Aznxa as Sovereign said, there is a clue in the side room.
@Sovereign2Lilith I will fix the food and water thing. I am surprised the game didn’t give an error, since the variable names were wrong. I also like the idea of adding some relationship variation like you suggest.
I wanted to keep age a bit vague since people can make that decision how the best see her or Heather, but I thought upper 20s to early 30s. As for the zombie, he was just moving his hand around mindlessly. If you think it needs a better description, let me know.
@Lauren thanks for the comment and glad you found the game!
just curious but when is part 2 actually going to be done also do you think we can make our own class in the beginning instead of picking one of the default
Part 2 has a lot to it – probably going to work on it through the next 2 months. I will put up new updates as they become ready.
I don’t know if making a class is possible given all that is necessary to track them throughout the game.
So, are we going to be able to bring a zombie back to the base? We have the option to bring rope, we find lethargic zombies, we are with a guy that said he wanted to bring a live zombie back, and researchers even have their own special room where they can keep it.
If you wanted to, you could add a few lines to the game that reference back to a choice you made in part 2. You had a chance to let Heather bring all of her bags on the trip. If you chose to share a room with her in part 3, it would describe what it’s like to share a room with her. In that description, you could put something that is connected to the choice in part 2 about the bags. Ex. Maybe she sleeps with a teddy bear or something. You don’t have to do this, but it would make your choices seem more meaningful and thus improve the game.
—“A whirring sound catches your ear, and you spot the overhead camera move. It raises and points in Javier’s direction, then shifts lower towards you, then back to you.”
When you choose to open the door, the last “you” should be Javier.
If you choose not to block the door when you enter, you will get a message saying you blocked the door when you use the control panel.
Oh yeah. I just remembered that I was collecting typos from 3-1. Here are the ones I found with showing the typos
On the west side of the room is a tall, wooden door with a crucifix etched from top to floor. It springs open, and out walk more familiar faces – Mindy and Candace from the apartment building lobby. Candace runs over and [raps] her arms around you.
Uncle Lou grabs a scoped rifle and climbs the first few rungs of a [later]. He takes a step and lifts himself up, then takes another step up in a feat of labor. He stops and asks, “Where’s Candace?”
You open the four bottles and stick the linen into them to use as wicks. Striking the lighter, you put the flame to the end. You look over the [edge of edge], aim, and throw. The Molotov cocktail hits the left-most zombie, who is instantly coated in [firey] liquid. Flames roar up over his back and head. The zombie staggers backward and stumbles down the steps. It wiggles on the ground and tries to stand but stays prone and burns.
Hey, it’s pretty great. A litlle short though. Can someone tell me the input for the computer?
Sorry, my other post didn’t feel long enough.
First off, although I expected an improvement on stats and stuff in the beginning, it was still a little pleasant. As for the building a lab option, I believe that it would be a good idea for Candace’s relation with you to increase a bit for being your assistant.
Another thing, if you try to block the door, and then return to it later it’s implied that it’s locked and you can’t get out, even if you blocked it. That needs a bit of polishing.
As for the female voice towards the end that tells you to answer the phone, is it like a gps style voice or an actual human?
