Zombie Exodus, going forward

mabey work in a way to save the little girl? please

Well, that will be tricky but I’ll see what I can do.

Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying I think that Devlin is a bad character. I just don’t like him because I don’t like jerks. In that way he’s actually a pretty good character.

Random question. How did the woman in the sun dress get infected? Or die for that matter? Did you think up a story behind that? The detail you put into everything certain gave the impression that you did.

It’s a bit creepy – I work in the medical field and read a report of a woman who was found dead in a lobby of a building after mostly everyone had left for the day. She was discovered dead the next morning. The coroner found that something must have scared her, she had a major panic attack, which lead to a massive seizure. The seizure paralyzed and killed her. So I thought about that case and said ā€œwhat if that happened during the outbreak?ā€

Wow, that is a bit creepy. Still, it really helps add to the atmosphere of the game.

Despite the need to remain gender neutral for most of the pages I really liked the bit where Tom offers a female character his hand. If the entire thing’s only recognition of your sex choice is sexually specific words (he/she brother/sister) then it just ends up feeling like your character’s sex doesn’t matter at all. Little bits like that go a long way towards making it feel like even a choice like that matters, even if it doesn’t make any big difference.

I wasn’t really thinking that Emma should become Buffy or something. I’m just thinking that she’s a danger to herself and those who are going to risk themselves to keep her safe. If it weren’t for Heather she’d have been killed when you tell them to run while you stand and fight. Heather may not be the greatest fighter, (Mindy is the most badass NPC I’ve seen so far) but she’s not a liability. You can rely on her to not hamper your efforts to keep her safe. Emma on the other hand needed Heather to pull her to safety because she was just standing there staring at the zombies. I don’t think that that makes her a bad character. If she didn’t do that she’d be less of her own character. I just think it’d be neat if there was a chance for your character to realize that she’s a liability and try to do something about it.

@JimD I think the love for Devlin is because he is the kind of jackass that actually gets what he wants. He doesn’t fight you or anything, he just pulls what he wants right out of you. The mistempered anger only shows up if you bring it out, or if he isn’t allowed on the ship I’d assume, but I haven’t read that path as I’m always just a bit sad that I can’t just put a bullet in him (not that I’m asking for it as an option :stuck_out_tongue: ). The thing with Devlin is that he is the kind of jerk that people actually like, even though they shouldn’t. How often have you thought ā€˜why does that person even have friends’? You’ve created a jerk without being so heavy handed that everyone automatically hates him because they can see his betrayal coming from a mile away, even though they can still tell he’s probably going to betray them. He is a truly human character and that is what makes him so awesome.

I actually wouldn’t mind playing the weak character. Being safe from zombies is one of my top priorities, and it would help to have more people that want me safe.

Well, Tom really doesn’t seem much like the heroic type to me. He sends you out on a zombie slaying mission while he stays in the safe house getting drunk. If you don’t save one of your team members while you’re fighting the zombies at the safe house, He kills you. (Although, it would be cool if you weren’t dead and they dropped you off in the woods to continue a solo zombie game.) I would have also liked if Tom showed his intoxication while we were fighting the zombies.

This isn’t really a bug, but I think the wording can be improved. : Part 2

Choice: Tell Devlin to stand and fight while you get Emma and Heather away
Action: ā€œDevlin, we gotta fight while Heather and Emma get away!ā€

The choice seems like Devlin is going to fight while you and the girls get away, while that is what eventually happens, your response seems like you’re going to try to fight along side him. I don’t really want you to change the scene because it shows the nicer side of Devlin.

@Shoelip I have plans for Emma – she is the most affected by the apocalypse as any other character. She may never be Buffy but she’s no Dawn.

@Reaperoa I agree about Devlin and appreciate that you think he is a great character. I have him worked out real well in my head so it is easy to write his parts. I ask ā€œwhat would Devlin say or do?ā€ and have no trouble answering.

@Sovereign2Lilith I see what you mean about the wording. I’ll look it over and see how best to tweak it.

As for Tom, what I hoped to convey is that he sees the safehouse as a company and he is the CEO. So, in effect he is calling the shots, not so much as a hero. There is also more behind it but I’d rather not give away too much about the future.

Well hopefully she can end up being a bit like… Season Seven Dawn.

Hm, I never noticed those parts of Tom’s personality. Definitely would have changed my opinion of him if I did. I never got the ending where he kills you.

In the park will u tell me who shot the zombie as it’s about to kill me

Actually I’d love to know the answer to that as well.

Same here. That question has been on my mind since the second time I encountered it (I dropped the tree on it the first time :stuck_out_tongue: )

Since it is a spoiler, I’ll message you all to let you know.

That’s cool. Can’t wait for that part to happen

one of the best games i played so far… taking of my hat to the creator

@ghostface22 thank you!

To those expecting an update tonight, Chapter 2 of Part 3 is nearly complete but I’d rather test it for a few days than put it up tonight and subject everyone to mistakes and errors.

Alright, thats cool. Can’t wait to see it!

awesome

Can’t wait!

You know it’s generally taken as a given but I always wonder, why do zombies attempt to feast on the flesh of the living (and only the living)? It really makes very little sense.
