For the save feature (which I call Vendetta Save), I am using his system to do save-restore points between missions. So prior to Fuel Run, your progress will be saved and if you die, you will go back to the point where you select weapons for the mission.
I made the Fuel mission difficult on purpose but if people think it is too hard, I can change it. We had a period of beta testing, and I actually did tone it down, but it still may be too hard. Also (as Shoelip pointed out), the rest of the game is fairly easy, so it is reasonable for players not to take the Fuel mission too seriously until they die repeatedly, then shut down the game, post a bad review, and throw their phone at a wall.
@Orpheus you can pay 99 cents (or equivalent) in the app itself or play for free online here:
@ShinobiSai the game should let you save at the end of Part 3. I will check to make sure it works.
@ChaoticGamer most of the relationship with Mindy becomes possible in Part 4.
@Shoelip Emma is not mentally sound, so your choice of answer being irrelevant to her is somewhat the point ā she has a one-track mind at that stage.
For the military group in the depot, if you give the true location, and you stick around, you get to fight them. Itās a fun section actually ā you can lay out traps for them.
Hay Jim. I just finished part three and wanted to say it was great. It was a nice balance of action and character development. I enjoyed running into the bandits in the town and the boat was awesome. My only suggestion for part 4 is to add a little more character interations. Especially between the main character and heather. And also with his sister. She not doin to well. But you are doin an awesome job. Cant wait till part 4!
@13ventrm the only save feature live so far is the save between Parts which uses the same style as Choice of Romance. I am integrating Vendetta save now.
@Dylan thanks. I will definitely be adding more interactions with other characters.
Iām not really pissed off. I had no problem with the fuel run during testing when you could skip right to the beginning of it. Itās just when I had to start the longest chapter over again and click through practically every choice in it before I could get back to the point I was at that got me really annoyed.
Thanks for the reply JimD. In my opinion, I donāt think you should make the fuel run easier. A little bit of difficulty is important in a good game, otherwise it ceases to be a game and becomes a story.
To all this talk of relationships: I played through as a girl. Heather came into my room, and I was 90% confident that she was bi and hitting on me-- was that intentional? If not, I just wanted to let you know that character interactions take on a whols new light if you choose to be Emmaās sister. And there didnāt appear to be any opportunities to get to know any of the male characters the same way.
@ShinobiSai I think there is a slight option for Heatherās brother. And the fuel run is not a ālittle bitā of difficulty (after playing about 4 times through it and restarting from the save point, I have a strong opinion on this )
I know what you mean Shintaroā¦problem here is i played through the fuel run about 10 times(yes i love the new part that much) and when i finlly diedā¦i drowned when i went downstairs to turn on the pumpsā¦-_-
I like how u get to talk to the group be 4 the fuel run hope there more scenes in part 4 and canāt wait to find out what Carl and candace are fighting about, ps like to see a misson where u get to know more about Jason, Unlce Lou and Tom as I donāt ready fill like I know them that will yet
@ShinobiSai I didnāt discriminate between male or female for Heatherās romantic relationship in the game. In Part 4, options for close relationships with other survivors is possible, some of which are started in Part 3. At one point, I was going to let players have a possible relationship with Javier, but his character went in a different direction.
@Aznxa I had originally planned to have all of the missions to be choices, and those that played the early betas can attest to it. However, they are so much content that it seemed a waste to have people bypass it.
Once I get the new save feature working, Iāll post it to the Web.
I wished you had a choice to save Javierā¦or at least give him a badass death like in other books/movies, he just seemed like that character that no one really knew too well that ends up sacraficing hmself in the end
Hey, I just played part 3 as a male Carpenter and got a funny error on the last mission (the one about the fuel): I was carrying a fireaxe and during one of the last fight (while crossing the bridge), the game reported that I āaimed the fireaxe at the zombie and fired itā
About Javier, maybe you should have the option of telling the others he is infected, since you have a way of finding out! I found it odd that, no matter what I chose, everything plays out the same with Javier (unless there are other paths if I play with a different characterā¦). I didnāt try abandoning him, but my guess is that it just makes you lose humanity, and I didnāt want to play a callous character.
Regarding the last mission, I think its difficulty mostly lies in the fact itās the section closest to a āChoose Your Own Adventureā, where you donāt have enough info to pick the safest pathā¦
Another thought: itās probably too late for this, but regarding your question about āsoloā vs āgroupā survivors, I prefer a variant of āsoloā: a very small group, with missions mostly in solo or couple mode.
Why? Because I found solo/small group gameplay more tense and suspenseful. Also, I find it hard to keep track of every character in the group, especially those with similar names (Jason, Javier⦠who was who?). Conversation with characters didnāt work for me: exploring every option was boring.
In contrast, missions such as the one with Mindy or Javier were cool. I have to keep track of a single sidekick: is he/she going to freak out? Will he/she follow my lead? Whereas multiple characters just make things confusing for meā¦
Im sorta confused about weapon checks I get the part where the better the gun the lower skill u need to pass the check but when u choose to use the shotgun or an assault rifle does the situation matter, like at close range does a shotgun work better and assault rifle work better at longer range
@AndresF I may add that option to tell the others about Javier. I do like the concept but it will be a lot to change.
I have been trying to keep it solo or small group, and I have gotten emails asking for larger group missions as well. I try to appeal to as many people as I can, and still keep the game as manageable as possible. Coding gets difficult as I add more people.
I made it possible to skip conversations for those who found it boring. I did enjoy writing some of them, like Uncle Louās though, and it gives motivation/depth to them (I hope.
@Matteller I base checks on range, ease of movement, and ease of aim while moving (you and the target). For example, if you use a rifle or AK-47 in the Fuel mission, it will raise difficulty in narrow tunnels or in the boiler room. However, when leaving Heatherās House and the medicine mission, it is easier to use burst weapons and long range weapons.
