Zombie Exodus, going forward

Oh yeah. What new things happen after the fuel run? I can’t survive it.

Man fuel depot was the hardest one of all of them but part 3 was epic

Reporting a potential glitch/error.

I packed up my bag to carry 29 pounds worth of stuff for some sort of trip exploring a supposed military base. I was just trying to click past it and go without a full load, so I just clicked next while leaving the top option (shotgun) selected. As a result, the game let me successfully carry 39 pounds of supplies, even though that flies in the face of the 30 lb limit.

Playing as a scientist.

On the fuel run my end with me getting knock out and has the little girl name changed ?

Ps is there a way I can date carl’s girlfriend in part 4

@Shintaro I made the fuel run hard because some feedback suggested the game overall was too easy and people would like to feel the consequences of their actions. I admit in the early parts, the game is fairly easy.

@Anansi it’s not technically an error, but the code I use to track weight is generous, so if you have 29 of 30 pounds, and you add a crowbar (10 pounds), it allows it. I didn’t want to bog down the experience with lots of checks, since the point is that you can’t take everything and need to figure out priorities. But thanks for checking on it.

@Aznxa thanks! Fuel vessel mission is my favorite.

@Stpeter182 the little girl mystery is starting to be revealed! I can’t give away too much in Part 4 yet but I’ll post the beta in April.

@DarthVader361 thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

How do you do the fuel run, I keep getting killed or infected by the stuff on the ceiling, help please! :-((

Hi Jim, just some things you might want to look at in part 3;

SPOILERS

on the fuel run in reference to my crowbar
‘You step back from the macabre scene on the floor and RELOAD your weapon.’

‘The narrow walkway has the pair packed tightly shoulder-to-shoulder. You fire at the left-side zombie, striking his chest and knocking him over with a loud snap as his body hits the bridge floor. You AIM THE CROWBAR AND FIRE at the other engineer’

‘A far-off shot rings out, and the zombie crashes forward – the back of his head cratered in from a massive bullet wound. As you stare at the corpse, the other engineer stands, so you FIRE THE CROWBAR into his head’

and some grammatical ones

‘which leads to a room TIH pump machines that look like refrigerators’
-i think you mean ‘the’? (fuel run)

‘We are not infected and peaceful people. Please help us.’ - do you mean and ARE peaceful people? (unexpected encounter at end)

‘Relationships. Getting personally, huh Teller?’ - you mean getting personal? (talking to mindy about relationships during medicine run)

‘The business was going well for IN the first six months’ - too many words! lol (when mindy tells you of her paintball business)

Loved it too btw, really awesome, i have a special requeest for you to make several more parts by the weekend :stuck_out_tongue:

i mean ‘with’ no ‘the’ on the first grammatical one lol

@Cyrus thanks for finding those. I will check into it and fix them for the next release.

@Redgrave I will send you a how to through a private message. Let me know what profession you play.

Hey Jim. Just some feedback on having died yet again on the fuel run, and quit in frustration.

I totally can understand wanting to make ZE more challenging, and seeing the impact of the players’ decisions. However, my enjoyment is seriously being killed off (no pun intended) by how grotesquely incompetent my character is coming across as.

I’ve mentioned that zombie ranger part before, the scene in Part 1 where the ninja zombie ranger closes the distance and disarms you. That previously was the only part that bothered me. I’m feeling a lot more of that in fuel run.

So I have night vision goggles on, I have a submachine gun specifically for close quarter combat, I have a combat knife. I spot two zombies on a stairwell in fuel run, and totally have the drop on them in an enclosed space, perfect for taking aim and firing. I open up with my smg, and despite getting one of them, the other ninja zombie grapples me. I try to kill him with my smg, I die. Okay. I load my game and play all the way back again. I kill the first zombie, and try to use my knife on the second. I die.

Okay. I quit and come back the next day, playing back to the part again. This time I just run away – perhaps the player is meant to feel powerless and incompetent, despite any equipment or skills. Alright, that’s fine.

I encounter those two zombies yet again, later on. I know the drill. I pick to run away and… I die.

I quit again, not feeling like playing anymore.

I can understand feeling the impact of our decisions, namely skill sets and equipment. Yet even when I have the ideal equipment – night vision goggles and a close quarter weapon – and even when I have the training – gun range – my character still stumbles around. It makes me feel less like any of my decisions have had any meaning, and more like things arbitrarily happen for no reason whatsoever.

I dunno. After dying this last time, it prompted me to post this message. I’m sure I’ll cool off and get back to ZE at some point. I just felt the need to comment and share my thoughts.

@Scelous sorry you’re dying so much. I tried the Fuel Run lots of ways to make sure there are numerous ways to succeed, but some professions may find it more difficult and also there is a wide range of skills that I had to factor in to balance that section.

I can send you a walkthrough of that part if you’d like. I will also tweak the boiler room area where you seem to be dying and include it in an update.

Also, I am working on using Vendetta’s restart option, so if you die in the Fuel mission, you just go back to the start of that mission and not all the way back to the start of Part 3.

I kill the zombie in that part with the sword think it the only choice I pick that I did die from

Not should if u saw u saw this post so thought I posted it again, is there a way I can date carl’s girlfriend in part 4, if not can u add one pls

Is there anything major that happens in Part 3 that is profession-specific?

Finally beat the Fuel Run! Man, I was freaking out! I had no idea if I was going to live or not!

Grr. Keep dying in the fuel run where I get the option to fight run or pray. Help?

I loved playing the games but maybe you could make it better by:

  1. allowing Eugene and devlin to join your group( and have devlin and tom bicker over trivial stuff for comic relief) then if you didn’t pick being a scientist, Eugene could be the scientist of your group or help you if you are a scientist
  2. letting us use the files of research or the book we brought from our home during part one in the other parts?
  3. make the game such that your group can grow some food to sustain themselves, and maybe have solar or other renewable energy sources other than just fossil fuels?
They are just some points that I feel can make the game more fun

@Shado_k I had that problem too. I changed my profession to a soldier, started over, trained in strength and accuracy, and did it again. Tough, but it got me through.

@Stpeter182 as far as Candace goes, I have things planned for her but rather not give away the details just yet. I will consider adding in the option to have a more romantic relationship.

@Shintaro glad you lived through it. I am going to tweak the sections leading to death to create better balance.

There are sections that are profession-specific like being able to build specific additions to the Cathedral as a carpenter and being able to take specimens from zombies as a scientist.

@Shado_k I will send you a walkthrough of the Fuel Run in a private message.

@Xt1000305 actually, you will be pleased at what happens in Part 4 as some of what you discuss is planned. I don’t want to give away too much but I will be posting beta tests of Part 4 in April, and you can see that some of what you describe is used.
