Zombie Exodus, going forward

@JimD

Interesting o.o I left my iPod a long time ago, so I haven’t bought any games. [Stupid iTunes]. So, either way [free or 2$], you still get money? That’s great!

Congrats JimD! I’ve already downloaded it and plan to start playing on my way to work. Will remember to click a few ads as well!

NO! Absolutely DO NOT click on any ads unless it’s an authentic click. You could
jeopardize our entire company by endorsing click-fraud.

Alright. I got it for my android and purchased the ad-free version. I want to recommend it to all my friends, but I’d prefer to wait until the game is completed.

@Scelous thanks for the support! One thing – I have 4-5 more Parts planned so the game won’t be “done” for a while. It is a series, which will be updated every 3-4 months (or however long CoG is willing to do so).

@JimD

Downloaded the game the other day. I’m still enjoying it but I’ve got two questions.

Firstly it says near the beginning that the zombies have a ‘lack of motor abilities described as a drunken walk’ yet quite a lot of the zombies seem to run?

Also is the version available on android an upto date one? as I’m sure when I played it on your website I got further than where the app version ends?

@Nocturnal_Stillness

The drunken walk is when they are idly roaming around but when they are agitated, like seeing a living person, they run, jump, sprint.

The app release is Parts 1 and 2 only. On my site, I have beta sections of Part 3 but it is not ready for release to apps yet. I will be giving out the link again once more is ready for those who wish to beta test.

Just noticed some spelling mistakes. When picking the item at the start it says 20 guage shotgun. also if you pick the rifle it says sling it over your should.

Yep, it is an early build of the game but it will be fixed in the next release. Thanks for pointing it out though; I am glad to get the feedback!

is possible that you put the link to the beta part 3 again? it kinda got lost in the discussion in here, that would be lovely thanks.

That’s awesome! I’m so going to download it now~

@djma46 I am actually going to be posting revised sections of Part 3 in a few weeks for people to beta for a short time. I’ll post the link then. Posting partial sections seems to take away from the beta experience for many reviewers.

@IyashiiOtaku Thanks for the support!

I finally downloaded the Zombie Exodus for my Android. Will give it a few tries and write a review somewhere.

Thanks Myth and Querida!

Firstly, love the game, my favourite, even more so than the official choice of games, bring on more :smiley: And I know I’m a little late, but figured hey, what the hell, can’t hurt to try and help where I can :slight_smile:

  1. Group survival sounds much better than solo, giving the world a potential for greater depth and more immersive game-play, which could lead to a better horror/survival experience.

  2. Although more puzzles would be nice, and more action even nicer, for group survival to work, especially at first, i believe you’ll need to focus more on character building, because there will be more characters we will need to come to know, and especially if the game-play jumps in intervals of (for example) weeks, we will need to come to ‘know’ other characters within the group better, and quicker. You’ve solid foundations for your current characters, Heather more so than Emma, and especially Devlin (I built up a character profile for him just after 1 scene) and with a little more personality we could come to find ourselves more attached, or estranged from them, influencing our decisions morally.

  3. I think they can both be used in sync, theres always going to be points of ‘i wish this bit could be skipped’ in any completely real time game, so just skip the un-interesting parts :smiley:

  4. Like I stated before, I’m lovin the characters, I feel like I’ve just met them (not so great in Emma’s case, but still), especially Devlin, I disliked him pretty much as soon as I met him.

5.I dont have a least favourite :smiley: The coolest scene for me is combating the 5 zombies at the end of scene 2, sorta made me think “Oh yeah, I am sooooo bad-ass right now!”, but my favourite scene is the playground with the little girl, that was a really eerie scene, and gave a strong sense of impending doom with your failure to save a child, and a realisation of just how huge a change the world has suffered. I found thesubway did this too, just not as powerfully.

Lovin it, keep it up! you rock xD

BTW, just played through part three; awesome, couldn’t put the laptop down :smiley:

Problem with the version in Hosted Games: it doesn’t show your equipment on the stat page. (It’s also only Part 1 and 2, but that’s been said.)

@Cyrus for the most part, your suggestions are the ones being used going forward, based on the consensus of those giving feedback so far.

I enjoyed writing the 5 zombie part at the end of Part 2 and felt it needed that kind of climax at the end of the whole city ordeal. Glad you liked it!

@Ramidel the inventory system got implemented a bit later than when the apps were being produced, so that and a few other fixes will be included in the Part 3 release, sometime in 2012.

Since this forum has helped so much with feedback for my game, I thought of asking for feedback on a video I am making about Zombie Exodus.

I run a video production group in Philadelphia, and we thought of making a commercial/teaser for the game. A friend is also a makeup artist for one of the nation’s best haunted houses, so she will do zombie makeup.

Here’s the premise:

Scene starts in a bathroom, with a man standing in the middle of it with light blood spray across his chest and a bloody knife in hand. On the floor is a face-down zombie. The shower is on, and the silhouette of a woman is inside. Text comes up on the screen: "The zombie lays on the ground, motionless and silent. What do you do next?
– Join your girlfriend in the shower.
– Check if the zombie is dead.

Scene cuts to the man in the shower (he made his choice). We flash the words: “Every choice has a consequence…” Suddenly, the zombie breaks through the shower curtain and attacks. Scene ends.

We will also do a separate version with a woman outside and boyfriend in the shower, so we show equal billing for the woman’s choice.

It will be a 15 second video for YouTube and maybe some advertising.

Thoughts?

That sounds really cool I can’t wait to see a finished product. Some suggestions:

I like the concept with the choice, but I think you could do a scene from your game maybe start with the little girl from the park and pan out then quickly flip through different scenes such as an old cathedral, a zombie attacking the camera as if its in first person, etc.

Sorry if this is too much, but when I see a movie trailer I’d rather see a trailer not an entire scene from a movie.
