Zombie Exodus, going forward

@kavok thanks for finding that error in Part 1. I am in the process of fixing it.

@IyashiiOtaku yeah, it was.

@ScarletGeisha @JimD I like the player character’s future to be a little vague, but not to the point that you have very little idea of what happens to them.

What I didn’t like was how it’s a slideshow with a narrator, I guess. Obviously there won’t be a slideshow, but keep things in the same perspective (as in don’t change to third person POV)

Thanks JimD for the awesome game your making!

I wanted to point out a couple of cosmetical errors that I founded:

  1. when playing as a military guy and you choose to take an AR-15 rifle with you as you are leaving your house there’s a typo:"…so you sling it over your should and grab…".
    I assume you ment ā€œshoulderā€.

  2. When playing as a military dude and driving a car to the blockade and talking to the soldier: If you want to tell that guy that you are an officer and want to get through, the choice is to ā€œdrive to the blockade and explainā€¦ā€ which doesnt make sense as you already are at the blockade.

But of course these are minor things so take your time finishing the game and dont hurry with these

Thanks again for the great game and keep up the good work! I cant wait you to finish the game

P.S. Sorry for any typos that I may have done (english is not my native language)

@imf151 thanks for those typos – I’ll check them out. Thanks also for the kind words.

To all – I should have the complete Medicine Run up tonight. I added to it greatly, which is the reason for the delay. Mindy felt her part was too small and I didn’t want to piss her off.

XD Much appreciated for the update. Can’t wait to play, as always. And by the way, any news on how you might set up the epilogue?

I haven’t thought of the epilogue. I have Parts 4-6 to handle

The new Medicine Run is up. It is a short addition which basically adds searching an animal hospital if you choose to continue after the pharmacy.

Also once the Fuel Run is done, I will tie all of the three missions together. Until then, the game just ends at the missions’ conclusions.

She hands you back a .38 Special handgun.
"I always keep a spare she says.
-Should have another quotation.
*slight spoilers*
Just one grammar error on my first run through of the end of the medicine run. I think the addition of the pet hospital was really interesting, but the thing I was expecting was a zombie dog or something. I’m not disappointed though, because Mindy’s emotional breakdown was a cool twist…

Hm… only a few things to say, but the first is, good job man, this interactive fiction is GREAT! Keep up the awesome work

Ok this is probably the last thing I’m going to say, and it’s a typo. When you’re trying to get back to the cathedral from the animal hospital, there’s a sentence that goes ā€œMindy is an amazing partner as she navigates the streets of Temperance as if she lived here her whole lift.ā€ and I’m sure you meant ā€œlifeā€

Anyways, again, keep up the awesome work, and keep us updated

Hey Jim. Just played the next part of the medicine run. As always, the writing was great, with just one or two grammatical issues . I really like it, as it shows the actual effect of the outbreak on the people, not just the world.

*Spoiler*
Mindy’s break down was a little surprising, as she seemed like a hardcore kind of girl, like what Heather is like, except that you don’t interact with her much.

@IyashiiOtaku Thanks, I will fix that error. I didn’t want to do a zombie animal, because (1) I didn’t think the cross-species virus made sense in this world and (1) my girlfriend is a huge animal lover and if she read about a zombie dog, I’d be in trouble

@Twitch_PhD Thanks for the comments! I will fix the spelling issue.

@Kamer Thanks for reading through. The animal hospital part was just a small extension of the larger mission, so I didn’t want to have any major action – just capture the mood and develop Mindy’s character.

The real action mission is the Fuel Run which is already being written and is actually the hardest part so far.

*Spoilers*

Hmm, don’t know what to think of the pet clinc part. Yes, it was surprising that she snaps. To me it was a little too suprising.

After you dealt with Mindy and try to loot what is left, she reacts in this way:
ā€œWhat’s that?ā€ Mindy asks, as she rises from the floor.

Maybe something more along these lines would fit better in this situation:
ā€œWhat’s that?ā€ Mindy asks with a shaky voice, as she rises from the floor. Whipes the remaining tears with the back of her hand and clears her throat.

— misc—
*You note no major impact from the infection, no physical effects other than the bite-mark area, and no abnormalities on dermatologic, orthopedic, neurologic, or other body-system assessments.

Not sure a soldier would actually look for all that, blood sure, but the rest…

*A banner over the entrance offers 20% off teeth cleaning for new customers, and as you draw closer, Mindy rips it down and balls it up.

ā€œLet’s get this over with she says.ā€

… with she says."
… with," she says.

*She kicks a chair, sailing it into the corridor, screeching along the tile until it topples in a loud crash.

… along the tile…
… along the tiles…
Sure, could be along the tile, but I simply would imagine more then one, maybe it’s just me…

*Mindy pushes your shoulders and backs away, tears streaming over her flush cheeks. She sinks to the ground, silently sobbing, her knees hiked up to her chest.

…flush cheeks.
…flushed cheeks.
I presume…

*I would assume that you get a bonus on your relationship with Mindy, if you actually take your time to talk to her instead of looting the place. Maybe even if you try to calm her through talking. But that doesn’t seem to be the case. Kinda feels wrong.

*A minor unimportant detail: Once you pick up the dust-covered roll of exam table paper it doesn’t show up in your inventory.

I hope to see more of your story soon.

@Vurguzz thanks for finding those errors. I am fixing them now. Also, I will add in some extra interactions with Mindy as you suggest, so it feels more realistic.

I did want to shock people with her reaction, since I like characters who act out of character. Of course, I don’t want it to be so far fetched that it hurts the story, so I will tweak this part.

I really enjoyed this whole Mindy-Breakdown thing. Only thing is that apparently our protagonist can’t seem to catch on to the fact that the reason Mindy’s crying is because she misses her dog?

Did you mention something about a dog? If not, I’m mixing Mindy with Rebecca from Assassin’s Creed. Either way, the logic still stands.

@MrYoungzman
I think you mixed those two up. And sure, it could be that she had a dog and this is the catalyst. Or it’s that she is alone in a room, away from the safe house in a hostile and gruesome enviroment with a few minutes to let her thoughts wander to what she has seen up till now. Or something completely different.
:-?

I haven’t mentioned Mindy and a dog before, and the reason for her breakdown will become apparent later, if you choose to explore it. I am adding a scene in which you can talk to everyone at the cathedral and/or explore the grounds.

Lol tbh I was hoping there is a possible way to ā€œcheatā€ on Heather w/ Mindy. ā€œOutside of the cathedral, there’s action and horrible sights, but INSIDE isn’t that much different!ā€ lmao inside cathedral drama would be interesting and would add one more purpose to having people w/ u xD

Sorry for double posting, but do you also mind telling me what the attribute ā€œWillā€ is for? I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who doesn’t know and I’d be surprised if I was wrong.

It will be possible to develop relationships with characters other than Heather in the next Part.

Will is a ā€œdivine interventionā€ stat that can bail you out of trouble or provide luck in many situations.

Hm… like that almost-impossible-or-maybe-impossible-to-pass scene where you decide to try and take the safe in the medicine run but you were too slow and you decide to fight and somehow get lucky in doing so instead of DIE like in ALL of the attempts I tried to get the safe?

(BTW I attempted 3 times w/ different stats and items)

There are numerous ways to do the safe part. All I will say is that most people choose soldier as profession and have a high dexterity. The safe part is for the rest of the players to have an easy time.
