Yeah, no need for a love interest if that’s not a story you’d enjoy writing.

It shouldn’t be required, but having the option never hurts. I assume this makes some of the writing/coding a bit more difficult, but it could be interesting to have a bit of a Lois Lane-type character in the game. The final call is ultimately yours. It doesn’t really add much to the game in the broad sense, it would probably just eliminate the need for random, nameless civilians hanging off of the bridge by inserting “Lois” or whoever.

Romance is always optional even in real life.

While it can enrich a story if done right it can ruin it done wrong. My suggestion is if you feel uncomfortable writing romance don’t bother as it’ll stress you out and won’t be good.

Or maybe have a choice of who the player’s ‘first love’ which lets us decide what attracts us then have that person murdered at the start which could be the origin story for our vigilante.
