(WIP) Path of Martial Arts: The Beginning (Dark, Eastern Fantasy | 750k words)

Seems he managed to find a way to see the Moon Goddess’s tits. He say ‘I saw the Goddess’s tits and lived to tell the tale’ and so far, she’s the only Goddess that’s really relevant and involved enough to both descend in person (TW’s student only bother descending through a sacrifice while the Moon Goddess already sent her champion in the flesh with some power restricting trick) AND beat the shit out of the monkey god for peeping on her while also seemingly being nice enough to spare him (TW’s student again would have just killed him).

If you followed the story, he’s the Hidden Elder who only acts when someone stronger than the entire sect try to destroy it. Your dragon friend make all the elders shit their pants while Monkey God is stronger than the Tang who beat said dragon friend. Even if all the other elders ganged up on him, he’d easily win (and probably could easily destroy the sect himself).

He’s basically top 3 on the planet. Which raise the question of why people are so eager to just kill you the second you say no to them. In He Gang’s case it make sense since it’s a fight between students but once you’ve got guys like the Emperor forcing you to essentially be Tang Ruo’s servant, it should be a matter of contesting Monkey God himself by basically every Cultivation Setting rules I’ve ever seen.

Having Monkey God as your master should be like having Happosai as your master, he makes you go through a lot of shit and it’s frustrating and humiliating (and you can either fight him every step of the way or become his treacherous errand boy, where he get attached in both cases like Happosai does with Ranma and his dad) but it not only actually bring results, it also means you get a lot of free passes with people who’d otherwise kill or humiliate you because it’s Monkey God’s job and he doesn’t like his student getting distracted from playing with him.

It’s funny how Wu Heir could’ve been the same if we didn’t have Auntie. Ruo was trained as a weapon first and a person afterwards while Wu heir was being punished for the sin of being born.

Wu Chao should’ve given us up to our grandfather tbh, as much as I believe Gramps is shady as fuck, Wu Heir might’ve actually been better off. Dad fulfilled the letter of the promise, but not the spirit of it.

i think i miss that talk.

Didn’t know they was a moon goddess.

He already made a promise his late wife, definitely cannot give MC to Rogues no matter what

Plus he already give you revival robes in prologue

I think you’d have just been the Rogues’ equivalent of Tang Ruo if the dad did that. Remember they initially didn’t even want you to be anything more than an empty shell.

Which bring the question of why the MC was going to be an empty shell but not the two others.

Who is this Moon Goddess people mention here? I don’t remember hearing anything about her in my playthroughs.

At the tournament, if you go save your fellow disciple, you meet a guy holding them off who’s OBVIOUSLY a real cultivator from another world.

Then if you’re a full good guy and accept your death while trying to protect the girl (instead of spending a lot of Qi), the Moon Goddess talk to you, basically says the guy who just left was her champion and force a bit of her power into your world, which fall onto you, granting you ‘The Moon Goddess’s blessing’, healing you back to full while also disintegrating two of the evil guys that were on top of you.

She seems like the first ‘Good Guy’ cultivator we’ve seen yet and thus she’s obviously the most restricted / lowkey one so far.

I honestly thought that the accept death choice would just kill me, so I started blasting qi instead. It’s a shame I missed that, because it seems cool. And it explains more about that alien guy. And I’m not sure my ego could handle accepting death even on next playthroughs.

Same, you have so many instant death choices in this game, sometimes you don’t even bother experimenting and risking a reload.

I have no idea how this game would even be playable with the demo save system.

Note, you don’t need to be all-out full good guy. If you are you’ll get her blessing, but she’ll show up and restore your HP etc. regardless.

Am I the only one not really sold on the Dao Path so far? I only really tried the elemental one and it’s just not very engaging, you mostly just do normal chi stuff, just with an elemental coat of paint.

Like the most we did so far with it that was pretty fun was infusing ourselves with water to become faster and more agile, infusing ourselves with fire to thaw ourselves out of fear and burn poison and somehow spam our most lethal move so far: An icicle to the face / throat, which you can somehow sweep most of the arena with.

Are the other Dao Paths any more engaging? Do I get more interesting stuff if I pick Ai’s master since he seem to be the elemental guy? Do you get more Monkey God scenes if you use the Void path?

Do u love poop ? is the question to the monkey god
The author didn’t write about the splippery and mess about this brrrr.

The Guo path ( the sect master ) and elemental path have more content.
Didn’t try the body path, its sound boring.

The dao power are all about space, what can beat that ?

Could you recall the content of the blessing ?

That combat was easy 'cause when u have a lot of point in constitution u are a rock :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

i’m curious now.

Body path is great for demonic runs.

For me dao is just the generic version of wu clan martial arts from the beginning given flexibility so niki doesnt need to create multiple arts to write different effects…It works but its bland as hell.

Void has better scenes imo followed by elemental and then body, in the tournament dao gets better and more interesting but until then the pattern is the same that you experienced.

Chu aiguo (Ai master) has some extra content and you receive good stuff from him but its nothing big, monkey god throws shit at you, surprisingly bohai is the one with the best gift If youre in a Evil playthrough.

Just dodge honestly. I liked his training after that where he stole all the girls’s panties but having him drop you as a disciple if you charm the girls to pass the test was just lame, you’d think you’d unlock the same technique by trying to escape him after he get jealous instead. The game really get railroady sometimes.

Monkey God’s biggest problem is that he basically has no content compared to what I hear about the other masters.

That’s the impression I got too, which is a shame because you can still do pretty crazy stuff with vague powers like the Dao Path. Just look at Unsupervised with the Elemental MC, you have pretty cool and crazy options beyond just throwing fire at people or cheap shotting them with an icicle.

Guess I’ll try Void Path next time I replay the game.

I don’t really care about what they give in and of itself, I mostly care about how much content and scenes they have. My build is OP enough without additional gift, especially with the Goddess’s blessing where I’m immortal as long as I have qi, which I stockpiled like crazy.

Most masters have few content specially because two (or three If youre on a specific route) are far away just before the tournament due to circumstances, before the expedition i think ma rin and yang bohai are the most present, after properly choosing a master i would say bohai has most content.

How do I resist the hatred in the tournament when fighting alone?

The option of resisting is greyed for you? give me some details, most of my runs are with iron will talent and no devil breakouts so im not familiar with it.

I see, I must need iron will talent. I’m playing a 100% virtuous character with no devil breakouts and Goddess blessing and am unable to resist the hatred when I go all out.
