Um about the “it” thing… It kinda sounds like you’re gonna have that be the default thing then in chapter 1? For trans and nonbinary people that might get a little triggering because referring to people as “it” rather than their preferred pronouns borders on dehumanizing and that’s a lot of stuff that we have to go through. ---

Wouldn’t that be the point though calling the robot it, I mean for someone unsure or leaning on the humanist side, not recognize the AI machine as being something truly not human or alive. And to be fair at the beginning im assuming that the mc knowlege of robots only extended as far as mechanical non human looking ones.The choice to define the AI should come fairly sooner rather then later though. ---

That might be the intention but this doesn’t exist in a vacuum; leaving it so the protagonist calls the robot “it” until it is explicitly said “hey don’t do that” might be triggering for people, especially if they’re playing a nonbinary protagonist and they have to see a nonbinary person do that to another being. Personally I think just referring to the robots as “they” or “zie” or one of the nonbinary pronouns would be the best idea, or include that option in a choice to select the genders of the npcs. ---

A problem of “zie” “xe” and other proposals would be that many players might not know these pronouns and be confused, possibly thinking it’s a spelling mistake. I think “they” is a better choice for a gender-neutral pronoun in the game. ---

@RedRoses I am sorry, I did not mean to cause an offense or triggering about that D: Ok I am trying to think how to change it… Instead maybe can have the scientist introduce robot as a he/she/xe? But is the offense just applying to calling the human looking robot it, or is it offensive to call the not-human looking robots as well…? I already found that ‘they’ does not work as a replacement for ‘it’ since it’s like, grammatically plural when talking in present tense (it says -\> they says? not correct) so replacing it with a ${ } thing doesn’t work, I am looking into using hir or similar instead. (‘They’ works for the gender-neutral player, though) ---

Yeah “it” is dehumanizing if they were people but as far as the player is concerned in the beginning they’re just robots. So I honestly think you’re safe calling them “it” until the player figures out what they want to call them or the robot tells you what it identifies as. ---

@enterprisi Personally I’d prefer not to call anything with sentience “it.” Would it work if the scientist maybe stated what their pronouns are like you said and then you have a choice at that point to ignore it and refer to the robots as “it” or use the pronouns they selected? Is that a good compromise? @HoZay The thing is, in the beginning it’s possible to be completely pro-robot and not believe that, so if you do “it” until then you’re forcing that on the character and you’re also forcing trans and nonbinary people to do that. ---

@RedRoses the thing is what counts as sentience then, we have to define. would all robots, even one with only very basic function be called as the xe/hir? Having the scientist explicitly explaining that would be kind of distract from the flow of the description, can it be acceptable to just have the scientist calling them xe/hir from the get go and you follow that if you are pro-robot and continue with the ‘it’ if you are for humanists? and the pronoun just switch if your political affiliation changes? I’m sorry, trying to accommodate all opinions possible but balance it with not confusing the coding too much ^^’ ---

@enterprisi I think if a robot is able to think, regardless of functions, they would have sentience. A baby is still sentient, and they can perform very little. At least, most babies, anyway. Yeah, I think that’ll be a good compromise. ---

Let me google that for ya. 😛 “sen·tient ˈsen(t)SH(ē)ənt/ adjective able to perceive or feel things.” I don’t think it makes sense for an anti robot person to call them by anything other than it (at least not intentionally) if they’re really serious about dehumanizing them. It’s part of their mental battle against their opponents to refuse to use their own terminology. The same way they call themselves “humanist” instead of the more accurate anti-robot. ---

Yes, I meant they would be called xe/hir, if the player chose to support the robot side of the politics (Then…what would someone who choose to be neutral call them XD? ‘it’ as well?) ---

**Update at last! Hurrah!** Most of the changes were adding a smattering of description here and there and fixing up the robot pronouns (speaking of which, is the little thing describing gender-neutral pronouns I have in the readme alright in content? it’s not well written at the moment but in theory has it got the right idea) So, any questions, comments, concerns? 😃 ---

I would just like to add a suggestion: Make sure to use a different line when a new character speaks. Such as in the lunch room scenes, dialogue goes “Hey” “Hey”, instead of “Hey,” “Hey!” Which makes it a little tedious to read. Also, the scene where you go to the bar with Tracy seems messed up. Most of the options didn’t show text after they were clicked, has it just not been completed yet? Otherwise this is a very nice story! I enjoyed playing it and look forward to its continuation. I just wanna be with my robo friends. ---
