WIP: Fallen Hero 2: Retribution - updated 27 april 2019 (pre-adult version)

Fixed an issue with double room/bathroom descriptions.

Does anybody know how we can talk to Ortega at this scene instead of Herald? This is the post-therapy thing O:

Itā€™s not written yet. All those greyed out choices are under construction.

Working on the Ortega one right now.

Iā€™m glad to hear weā€™ll be able to explore more than one path eventually. Iā€™d have a really hard time to decide which scene to play otherwise.

Watching Herald squirm is always fun, and I canā€™t help but think their first date will be awkward as hell. Whereas Steel and the MC feel like they could work surprisingly well together. You make it really hard to choose one over the other.

How do you trigger the scene with Steel? I either get a text from Herald or an Ad, then when I leave and lie to Ortega I just get tossed into the training scene with Herald, even though I turned him down.

@malinryden
The game still assumes during the conversation with Steel and in Ortegaā€™s private office that Lady Argent choked the MC by the elevator even if Lady Argent and the MC only talked.

When the MC looks at the location of the barcode, the game refers to markings on both the location picked by the player and on the arm. The gender of the specialist also flips back and forth in the text.

I would like the option when Herald asks the MC for help training to downplay Sidestepā€™s past skill level perhaps by pointing out that Ortega had been better at sparring back in the day and that telepaths only seem more skilled because they can see the planned attacks by their opponents. It might be nice to have that along with agreeing to train Herald anyway, and as a reason for refusing to train Herald.

Huh. I thought I chased down all those things. Did you start from the start so thereā€™s no old tags hanging around somewhere? If not it would be super helpful to post a snippet of the offending dialog.

When the MC looks at the location of the barcode, the game refers to markings on both the location picked by the player and on the arm. The gender of the specialist also flips back and forth in the text.

There are several barcodes, which I see can be confusing. I should make that clearer. Which specialist are you talking about?

I got the Herald training scene even though I refused to give him any. I think. I mean, I didnā€™t get the text from him, but I still jumped to the training scene.

Should be fixed now! I had the wrong goto in one variant where you didnā€™t agree to train Heraldā€¦

@Iggles This should probably do it for you too.

Thanks for the quick fix!

I made a character rather than randomizing one. If needed, I can post all of the choices that led there or I can try going through the source code too.

Here are screenshots of 2 places where the game refers to Lady Argent having nearly strangled the MC even though that did not happen.

The specialist that tried to remove the barcode.

FOUND IT! Thank you! The culprit was a choke tag that was set to positive where it shouldnā€™t be. Should be updated now!

Fixed the specialist too.

Oh my god, this new update literally had me laughing in sheer delight at the Herald training scene. Sidestep you magnificent bastardā€¦ playing dumb about Heraldā€™s crush is killing me so goodā€¦

Sadly, I wonā€™t have much time to playtest thoroughly for the next month or so :frowning: but I did notice a bug with the Argent choking scene again:
My fighter!MC dodged her grab, but in the elevator with Herald afterward, itā€™s still acting like she successfully grabbed them. It does seem correct during the Ortega convo, though.
Example: ā€œyou say, rubbing your throatā€

Small errors I found while code-diving? Iā€™ll have to do a play-through for more testing though.

This is the training scene with Herald under the choice #ā€œI thought you and Lady Argent were a couple?ā€

ā€œWell, {he} quit for a while. After you and Anathema... got killed." There's a nervous little laugh at that. "And when {he} came back, ${he} said he was through with being the face of the team. Steel makes a good Marshal, butā€¦ā€

The ā€œheā€ should be changed to ${he} I believe. Thatā€™s pretty much it though.

For some weird reason, I couldnā€™t blur another paragraph so Iā€™ll add it here:

Another, I guessā€¦ idiom issue?

This is near the end of Chapter14

Change losers to ā€œchoosersā€ and now the sentence makes sense.

Fixed the stupid mistakes you lot pointed out!

Oh idioms and pronouns, my eternal enemy.

Iā€™m struggling with getting the bystander killed any hints.

Thereā€™s this weird one in the shrink scene.

Fixed that, forgot to add the not(kill) to the other variables, hence the mixup.
