(WIP) Drink Your Villain Juice! (Superpowers, Horror | 455k) Updated 30th May 2026

This is a thing I do too, I think it is fairly common.

Ah, ok.

Funnily enough, I don’t actually mind if the person I’m with/interested in finds someone else physically attractive (it’s not as if you can selectively switch off the part of your brain that finds people good looking), but I do get a little anxious/jealous if it seems like they have romantic feelings for them.

The latter is what I thought that interaction was kinda implying (though not that I thought they were in love with each other or anything), which is why my gut reaction was to feel a little put out (I want Wil to have romantic feelings only for me when I’m romancing them lol).

That’s what I thought you were going for, but I just thought I’d point it out in case there was a mistake.

When reading it I thought calling her just our bestie was underselling our relationship a little (yes, she was our best friend but also our girlfriend), though I do actually agree that it’s important to emphasise the friendship part too (so honestly it’s not actually a huge deal if you don’t end up coding in a best friend vs girlfriend distinction).

Ah, I didn’t realise that was slang. I have to admit, I’m a native English speaker and I’ve never heard that usage before (so I assumed that line was missing a few words).

Oh, that was how I was interpreting that line anyway. Just wanted to make sure lol.

A minor typo I noticed when playing through again:

If you select the option that says “Stupid sexy Wilma”, there’s an incorrect pronoun where Wil gets referred to as male rather than female.

“When you finally look back to Wil, she’s finished putting herself on display, though now he’s giving you a perplexed look.”

Some things I caught

Seems like the first | is missing

Looks like a *goto is missing. Unless it’s intentional

I think there’s an *else there that gets skipped?

I honestly thought that was intentional

I think it should be but I will always be outvoted

I mean, I didn’t register it as a bug because it’s in-character as I understand the characterization. So as long as it doesn’t cross the line into sexual harassment (if you shut Mal down, they better mind the lines) then… feature, not a bug?

More seriously, we have to ask: what are Mal’s standards? Will they go after anything with a pulse, or is there a PC who will be ‘not their type’ (particular level of violence, relationship metric, etc.)? Because this certainly isn’t behavior you wouldn’t encounter in another human being, but it is important to make sure the behavior being presented isn’t unnatural for this human being.

And of course, if it’s bothersome, the player is being given options to shoo them off, so I have confidence in the author there.

phew! Gonna be honest, I’ve had a friend look at me like I grew a second head because I came out with something outstandingly British in front of them they’d never heard before in their life so, you know, it happens. (yes, tragically the author is… british adjacent)

Yeah, fair enough! FWIW neither Kay nor Wil are going to initiate anything. They’ll independently bring up that they’re okay with open relationships (Kay if you flirt with her when you’ve got a thing with Wil already, Wil if you ask them about it when Mal comes over), but the the poly will be something the player needs to prompt for themself.

Thanks! I missed the multi-replace there. I’ll get it fixed.

Thanks for the heads up! Surprised that first one didn’t throw an error in testing since there’s more ‘confide’ options than that (maybe cause it’s not possible to access that option if ‘confide’ is the latter values…)

Ah! Yeah, looks like I bungled an indent. It’s supposed to go to Lullaby waltzing in. Can indeed be fixed with a goto, which I will take care of. damn my love for implicit control flow.

Whoops, yeah, that’s another indent error by the looks of it.

The reason it’s so mortifying is that Mal is supposed to be specifically good about boundaries (and I very much do NOT want this to be possible to happen if the player opted out of their flirting/romance, which has been the case previously). The reason they’re so brazen in this instance is supposed to be in reaction to them picking up on Dime’s interest in them. They’re craving company/intimacy and have a casual attitude towards sex, but they’re also perfectly happy in the same scene just hanging out or cuddling. Demonstrative, I think, is that if Dime says “oh I was kind of hoping this was more than a hookup…” Mal nixes sex for the evening, because they don’t wanna lead them on.

Mal does have standards, but they’ll still flirt with pretty much anyone just for fun. I may or may not eventually have something on lines of “I simply do not like you” for low relationships. As I’ve mentioned, they’ve also got some hard violence lines that will be kicking in pretty soon (and in the earlier scene they won’t proposition Dime regardless of relationship/amount of flirting if Dime killed someone just before)

They talk a little bit about their attractions in the hookup scene, but I’m planning on more stuff in the future… just as soon as I quash this bug >:(

Oh, interesting. Can’t say I pegged that; Mal is forever getting on my case for their own amusement when I think I’m putting off major ‘do not pester me’ vibes and I’ve specifically warned them off that sort of behavior previously.

Dime: exists in Mal’s general vicinity

Mal: pokes and pesters; Dime specifically

MainDime: brutal with mutation-powerset, highly reserved
“[aggrieved sigh] You do not want to do that. This –” [gestures, to convey ‘this whole deal’] “This… does not go back in the bag easy.”

Dime: “…please don’t open it.”

Thanks for sharing about Mal’s intended design :+1: Feedback:

  • if the ‘knock it off’ option has been chosen (I think we can also full-ignore or express displeasure at their shapeshifting prank when they pull that afterward), that means Dime doesn’t want their tail – er… tentacle? pulled. We can’t really communicate it much clearer without escalation.
  • Mal should be spreading their attention about, if this is a personality characteristic (which is how I take it; but perhaps they’re singling Dime out because they just like us in particular that much. (Or we’re sketchy as hell despite our subterfuge value :face_with_tongue: )); but it seems to be strictly limited to Dime given multi-Altruist interactions shown.

Ah, I should clarify. Mal’s supposed to be specifically good about romantic (and flirtatious) boundaries, not ‘being a little shit’ boundaries. If somebody asks them to knock the flirting off, they will do it instantly. Not so much with the bantering. But fair enough on the feedback! So far as other group members go, I think they do wind Dion up a lot, it’s just Dion’s known them long enough to give as good as he gets. fwiw I don’t think there’s gonna be too many instances of them needling Dime for a reaction going forward (and the shapeshifting thing was a spur of the moment ‘oh yeah, I changed faces for the job we just did, you know what’d be really funny?’) - the relationship development is going to heavily revolve around whether Dime’s being a murderhobo.

So, to murderhobo or not to murderhobo

I want to romance Mal as a murder hobo tho

Now I’m totally not condoning murder, but if I was the type to do that, which I’m not, I’d ask if you considered hiding the bodies. After all, if someone mysteriously vanishes after a chance encounter, well it’s not like they have any DNA evidence.

I’m also not advocating for cannibalism either…but if I had the mutation ability and quickly needed to dispose of a body with minimal traces, which I as a non-murderer would never need to do, I think that’d be a surefire way to throw off any investigation.
