[WIP] Beyond: Rebirth (10/12/17 Prologue Update)

Any CS specialist know if it would be possible at all to implement a completely random Tarot Card reading system with the *rand command?

EDIT;

Actually, looking on the wiki some more, I guess it would be better to use *goto_random_scene, than *rand? And then write a scene for all 78 cards lol.

For those following on the tweeter, you might have already seen
 But

I’ll possibly be adding a fifth RO. One which you can pick between a male or female.
They can possibly be either Jinn or Fae. This will cover all our bases on the races. What do you think?

EDIT:
Did I say the tweeter? I meant the Tumblr. lol

I don’t even use my twitter that much XD

Thank you for those! It means so much you were able to catch them. With the next update I’ll be sure to fix those errors.

I’m likin’ the updated prologue artwork and how Uriel’s appearance is mirrored in the player. Keep up the good work and I look forward to the next update!

Thanks!

The next update may be a while away sadly. I’m currently reworking the beginning of the game and all the coding for it to make it more friendly for me moving forward. I’ve also sadly put a small pause on the above work to do a Tarot Card reading system!

The system will probably be around 18k+ words. You’ll get to pick three cards for it, with there being 26 different possibilities per card. (so 78 in total, for the 78 Tarot cards; what you get will be random.) After I’ve finished the system I plan on putting it on here and letting people test it! It will be put into the game afterwards, and then I’ll get back to writing some more!

Oh, that sounds interesting. I think we’ll be able to wait for something that sounds that cool best of luck!

For those that have been reading the short story over on Tumblr, who’s ready to see the MC’s mother?
I saw this picture on Devianart, and was like, “Wow. That’s how I pictured her when writing the character.”

Hmm
This is the first game I’ve played that has Jinn (Genie?) In it and I’d love to learn more about them! (if they organise a big ass parade while singing and shapeshifting all the better xD ) but I also really love the fae, their appearances and designs are my favourite! (Such creativity and imagination!) So of I had to Choose I’d say fae sobs sorry

I am! Poor woman needs a break xD

I imagine my Uriel like this though, serious and focused, like a battle maiden ready to fight, but is also elegant (and a bit of a smartass lol)

On the other hand, Eleanor my MC is graceful, kind, well mannered and reversed, at least around other people and she is more relaxed around Ashton

(now our targaryen family is complete!)

They’re both beautiful. :3

If you have the same features as your mother, at one point someone will comment how much you look like her. (If you pick having white hair/blue (or violet) eyes) If not, they’ll comment how much you look like your dad haha. (even tho you also look like Uriel, ofc
)

The MC is just a mixture of everyone, huh? LOL.

One existential crisis please!

Also what about daddy dearest? Does he show up later or not?

It’s possible that he may or may not. :smirk:

I don’t want to say too much.

I really like this art. If you drew it, you have a style I really love.

Nope I did not but I happened to come across them and they reminded me of my MCs

Thoughts on what will be the new opening?

Pretty much new opening thingy enjoy!

You move through the darkened house, candle in hand. Even without the illumination provided by the candle, you’d be able to move within it without any trouble at all. This is, after all, the home you’ve lived in all seventeen years of your life. In your other hand, you support a book against your bosom.

Passing the longcase clock, a loud dinging begins. Midnight. Called the witching hour by some, you can’t help but feel comforted by the darkness around you. No need to pretend. No need for tight fitting corsets. No need to sit by and look pretty, as you’re mother often tells you to do as of late.

“Sit down. Shut up. Don’t even breath unless told too.” your mother had said, her voice harsh, as you’d taken your usual seat beside her at the long mahogany dining room table that reached from one end of the room to the other. When your father walked through the doors for supper, he’d brought a dinner guest along, as your mother had known he would. And, as told too, you’d only spoke when spoken to, and shut your mouth and shoved your fury deep down within yourself.

Thinking of the large and pungent 3rd Duke of Wellington, Henry Wellesley, you shudder. He’d come to supper to meet with your mother and father over an apparent business arrangement. And, as the Duke had said more than once, often glancing at you as he spoke, and then to your mother and father, his brother was looking for a betrothed for his son.

If your memory serves you correctly, Arthur Wellesley’s oldest son was, for God’s sake, only thirteen years of age. Just the thought of supper causes a spark of annoyance to flutter through you and your stomach to turn. Your not some animal meant for your parents to herd around and flounce to the nearest nobleman like some bitch in heat.

Clinching your book tighter, you push open the double panel doors and enter the grand and lush parlour. A fire crackles, helping to heat the room. You wonder if Tobias has lit it for you, knowing that you’d venture into your safe heaven after tonight’s repulsive evening. A smile forms at the thought of your butler. He’s been more a parent to you then both your mother and father combined and then some.

Without even a thought, you choosing the plush tĂȘte-Ă -tĂȘte sofa closest to the fireplace, and look down at your book. Running a finger delicately across its cover, you read its name aloud

Update:

This weekend (maybe around Sunday evening?) I’m going to be adding the new prologue. I can’t wait for everyone to get to read it! Sorry I’ve been scarce on updates here on CoG <3 life has been rather busy for me haha.

The game has been updated. The prologue is out, chapter 1, as if the moment, has been removed, and will be added in at a later date.

I hope you enjoy this brand new Prologue! If you find any errors, please, feel free to tell me about it!

Love the new prologue!

Few things I'm found:

Either “you” or “you’re”.

I think this should be

"are you just going to stand there, or are you going to

since it’s after comma. Kinda unsure though, so you may want second opinion.

  1. I think the dot/fullstop/period suppoese to be comma. If not “a” should be capitalized
  2. “You only know you want the annoying, animalistic, howling to stop.”

Feels like that “ask” would be more suitable here than “reply” imo (this just suggestion of course!).

Thank you so much for these! I’ll probably be pushing another update with all those grammar errors through sometime tomorrow.
