During the first fight against Jack , i failed the athletic 1 check for throwing the trowel even though I had 2 athletic
Already alot better than Path of Martial Artist. If fight between Jack and MC happened in Path of the Martial Artist the MC could never have won against Jack without aura because of levels, forgetting the fact that we are humans and can device cunning plan like how the mc pull Jack pants down to push him to the edge of the cliff then having an elixir as contingency.

I think that’s a leftover fail report from when it was an athletics check. I changed the text to describe it as a stealth surprise attack and moved the skills needed to stealth 1 or thievery 2. I’ll change the report now, and for the future I’m looking at gosub commands for skills not just combat.

I would like it if there was an option to start the game with you allocating some points into the skills of your choosing before you pick a race. Starting with 3 or 5 points seems like proper points to start with.

It seems like we’re catching up with Jack pretty darn quickly for a “powerless” peasant. Unless it’s that common trope weak to strong type stuff. But still the MC feels way stronger than other MA, maybe they’re special or smth? Since we unlocked the Immortal Core in battle rather than practising for years. And we are winning against pretty much everyone while only using raw power, no Techniques.
All in all, this is a strong start and can’t wait to read more.

Hence why its so good to read, when the upper disciple try to hit me with the spear I thought it was going to be like Path of Martial Artist where they just forget about stats, but I was wrong, the mc actually block the spear and even scared the shit out of the upper disciple. Just Awesome man

You’re strong compared to your village’s Lower Disciples because of consuming an entire Heavenly Gate alone. Consuming a second due to political circumstance and opportunistic methods is a bonus. But yes you have a decent amount of talent. Probably top 30% of your age group naturally which is good but not amazing. You’ll be seeing similarly talented people more in the later stages of the Heavenly Ascension Trials and you’re not the only one powering up for them. BUT before that you’re going to get to dab on even more rabble at the Trials too before they get weeded out in the early stages.

Speaking of dabbing, will a specialist in Handseals throw out gang signs that murder her foes with extreme prejudice? I have this image in mind and it doesn’t leave it, no matter what I try.

Your average handseal rituals use ambient chi to sustain themselves, auras flaring in combat will break most so reliable combat seals aren’t a thing…for most people. Kiihakai will have combat seals where you straight up naruto bloods vs crips sign and someone dies.

Currently playing this and so far, I am enjoying it. It is just one thing I find weird, the naming sense. At first, it’s mostly Japanese/Chinese names but then all of a sudden, I am hit with the name Crusher Jack

The setting’s main mix is from Cathayan (china-rome) past influence on the current Zenshin people (japan-HRE), but as you’ve seen yes there is Lunargothic influence which brings in a mix based loosely on Gothic Horror aesthetic + actual germanic Goths. I apologize if you found the baguette. I was eating one.
