Whiskey-Four Release Thread [November 7th, 2024]

That’s not incorrect, But it’s also nowhere near that simple

Look we can love Uly all we want but we can’t ignore they aren’t right on the head after the betrayal.

The only way to cure Uly of her crazy is to kill her at least I think so

Oh, definitely, but I don’t think I would use the word crazy. There’s some elements of hysteria and obsession in there, but it’s not all encompassing, and, well, I think I’ll just leave it at that for now

The betrayal was part of destroying particular company assets.

At least if I remember correctly. The company would of already been warping into that other realm if not for Uly.

If missed that point.

Uly found out that the company was doing some extremely shady shit, burglarized the place, stole something, killed a bunch of guys, and somewhere, somehow, got into a fight with whiskey afterwards, in which whiskey shot them. There’s more to that despite the game keeping most of the circumstances around it vague, but I’m not going to elaborate anymore than what’s already in the public demo. I don’t even recall when exactly that confrontation with whiskey took place, but those two events are interlinked with each other

It is the standard radio alphabet for W.

Whiskey themselves has been sober for the last eight years or so, and the irony of that is noted in game

It’s okay, it’s make them even better

So what. There are other letters in the alphabet.

Too bad player can’t choose codename. Mhm, F is really cool.

It doesn’t mean you’re drinking, is all.

I chose not to drink if I remember correctly. The guy even expresses. Why Whiskey if don’t drink, came up.

I know. The name still refers.

There’s a lot of set things about mc in this game… Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the demo but I had the impression that it’s more like normal book.

Everybody has their own vision of the games they want to make. A short and loaded story like that works much better with a pretty set protagonist. Having a very defined MC is not a flaw - it’s one of possible options for making a protagonist. You may not like it and choose to avoid games like that, but there is no need to say it like it’s inherently bad.

Nah, Bacon seems to like writing MCs that are more defined than most. If you like doing self inserts or pages of custommization, this ain’t your thing. Plus, it fits the whole action movie vibe.

Don’t read the game if you don’t like it then. Easy as pie.

honestly, this gives the implication that the mc needs to be fully customized for it to be counted as an interactive fiction, which is so not true.

You don’t read the posts carefully? :face_with_raised_eyebrow: I just said I liked the demo, the writing style, But when it comes to the choices, it was frustrating.

How it fits? Giving more freedom to the reader will ruin this ‘vibe’?

There was nothing about “fully customized” in my post.

Uh. I was more than capable to self insert.

Bacon adds much of what most don’t get into with broken MCs. Why broken varies but still broken. I align better with those styles than happy go lucky types.

I can self insert in most of the games I play.

If I can’t. It never rates good with me and I never end up caring about anything happening.

The story is supposed to be a single, streamlined narrative. More variation means more deviating from the main plot, and in this game, nothing else in the first 80% matters outside of the events that are directly happening.
