Try Veronica Mars for some neo-noir that’s fairly recent and not mired in misogyny.

For me it’s cheesy as hell and childish but i want my own harem game. lol
I… don’t think it’s actually a genre, but I’ve got a story I’d like to see.
I’ve played so many games where I’m just the most helpful person on the planet. Everyone’s got a problem, and I’m just the girl to solve it. I don’t mind that. In fact these are some of my favourite games.
Just once, though I’d like to completely lose it before the end of the story. Just flip out on my companions and tell them to solve their own problems, or better yet solve mine.

These are a few of mine (Not necessarily all my thing, but that I think are under represented.). I know some of them do have games, but they’re on the list because I’m surprised there’s not more
Dragons! It’s bizarre, I would have thought there’d be tonnes of dragon based COG’s/HG’s. There’s a few WIP’s hoping at least some of them make it into completion
Adventures involving talking animal companions (good or evil.) (Again so surprised given the number of TV shows, movies, anime etc that have them.)
Non-European myths and legends. (I know there’s a couple but not many.)
Retellings of classics. (I think there’s 2-3 at the moment.)
True comedies as the primary focus for the game rather than a game with funny moments.
In space adventures (they seemed to be popular initially but then petered out.)
Slice of life games.
Detective type games.
Everyday profession simulators. (Similar to “reality” TV.)
Animal protagonists (Particularly “real life” based ones.)
Historical fiction that follows major events in a fairly true to life fashion. (Not necessarily wars either.)
Purely romance focused games. (Rather than a game with other focuses and romance mixed in.)

I have toyed with doing a game set in the Gullivers Travels universe since it’s public domain, figuring out whether you would have to play a Gulliverian or could maybe play a Lilliputian or Brobdingnagian instead…

@Jacic I heartily agree with your list. I’d like to see more that appeals to older readers and edges into unexplored territory.

I think medieval interactive fictions where you play as ruler of kindomgs etc. is under represented.though there are many short wips but not more than a few good completed games of this genere

I’m thinking… medical drama, like House.
I’d be interested in choices that test the MC’s ethics, their approach to work, how this impacts their relationships and the world of medicine, etc.
In Life of a Mobster you would become a doctor working for the mafia, I think that itself has the potential of a dark and gritty story as the MC tries to balance their personal life with their shady work life.
I’ve also been thinking about post-apocalyptic fiction that already takes place a generation after the zombie apocalypse, hence our MC would be someone who was born into a world that is rebuilding itself as they learn about our civilized whilst being primarily accustomed with a more survivalist world.
Or maybe it doesn’t even have to be about zombies, maybe its about struggling to survive and find purpose in a Hobbesian world where humans have devolved into savagery without law and order.
Psychological horror or horror in general seems kind of lacking.

I don’t know if you can call it genre, but I like games or stories in which the MC is a murderous villain who just kills for the fun of it.

I think so too.
Especially in my case I would like to see the government simulation game.
Not a genre, but there is a medium for it, they’re called “video games,” have you heard of them?

I’d also be very interested in more post-apocalyptic stories. I’m a huge fan of Fallout and Tank Girl, and the punky desert vibe of Mad Max is just wonderful.
That and more stories dealing with the fae and darker fairy tales! Those are always really fun to read.

Pure romance stories, like wayhaven chronicles… definitely something I’d always be happy to see more of… the setting wouldn’t really matter that much I don’t think

@GenecoInheritor , took the words right out of my mouth. In all(attempted) seriousness, governmental, without supernatural elements, could make a great intrigue, but that isn’t some people’s cup of tea.
@GenecoInheritor
Nice pic.
It’s the internet, it’s never serious.
I didn’t even know I wanted more pure romance CoGs but golly gosh Wayhaven has me hook, line, and sinker
@Theguyfive_Jbra There’s a few politicking WIPs, but I agree, it’d be nice to get some stories in the politican drama genre
