I don’t think Lyra is 80+ years old, its mentioned that she is one of the youngest producers working on the Hero Project. Older that Jury, surely, but not nearly 80+.

And I don’t think polyship was what he meant (and if he did then that would be… interesting) just that there could be some relationship drama between the three… which I think is unnecessary since there would already be some relationship drama there because Lyra, but we’ll have to see.

I won’t go into my long defensive rant about Jury here so lets trying to get back on track.

I really was not a huge fan of… Gosh, I think his name was Tyler? The crush from Psy High. They were so boring but my MC just loved them. Just… Come on.

In any case she’s another example of the author’s preference for “cougars”

Taylor? Well at least that was her name as a girl, yeah I was not a fan of her, she seemed rather selfish, and how the heck was I supposed to be crushing on her when Alison was right there the whole time

There’s two kinds of hate for a character: There’s a character you love to hate and are satisfied when you see them getting what’s coming to them, and there’s a character who you just wish would die in a corner somewhere outside the narrative.

For the first kind, I think Paul Prototype hit all the points. He was the perfect macho dick heel, and it was so awesome to take all his dirty tricks and backstage politics and ram them straight up his ass, and cap it off by one-shotting him.

Black Magic is definitely the second kind. Forced romance, being told I’m into them by the narrative, and a whole lot of Mary Sue-ism that their secret just makes worse, because you can’t respond effectively in any way beyond cutting ties.

What I find annoying are those clingy childhood friends. Some authors can actually pull off those characters, but most of the time it feels so shallow. Their loyality and love for you is unexplainable and sometimes the overprotective nature of those characters really tick me off. You never get to know how or why they like you, you just get moments of flashbacks saying: ‘‘When you and Bestfriend were younger, the two of you played with…’’.
I think that a character is more loveable when you build a relationship with them from the scratch. It always feels nice when you know that you went from 0 to 100 together. Instead of starting from 90 and you already have a good backstory with them.

I know what you mean…

Mm, like the best friend from Psy-High. One minute you’re playing vidja gaymes together, the next minute they’re confessing their feelings for ya and meanwhile my MC is blindsided trying to explain, “It’s not you, I’m just more interested in the school drug dealer!”

Which is precisely what I loved about Mopsie in Tally Ho!

She was shallow. Not only shallow, but extremely fickle, as well. Refuse to bow to her demands? 0%. Pay her a minor compliment literally five seconds later? 100%. Try to explain your reservations about Figs? 0%. Kiss her dewy brow on his behalf later? 100%.

Everyone thought Mopsie was annoying for this, but that exact trait made her one of the most entertaining characters in the game.

I’d rather not.

Can I just say that the phrase ‘dewy brow’ still cracks me up so much. I shared it with my sister who doesn’t play Tally Ho! and now it’s become something we say at random to each other to make the other laugh.

And then I lost my s**t when I saw the ‘dewier brow’ achievement. I know it’s not supposed to be that funny but I think it is.
