What kind of stories do you want to see for Choice of Games & Hosted Games?

I’d love a series based off the anime’s Darwins game/high rise invasion! It’s a genre that no one’s really written about that I think would be cool. Especially if the power you get is random like it is in Darwin’s game

I would like to see more low fantasy/magicless fantasy. Yes, there are creatures out of myth and legend. No you and the elf you rode in on ( :smirk:) cannot kill them with a lightning bolt, you have to do it the hard way, with sharp pointy things you hold in your hands.

More Slice of Life. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

One where you can be a Lawyer.
One where you can be a Chef.

One day I will surprise you with a lesbian character named Gretchen, just for you. And yes, she will have abs. lol.

You’ll love it. I hope! lol.

I’d personally be very interesting in playing a crunchy Tremere game in the World of Darkness setting (using Night Road’s menu and stat system), especially since anyone has permission to make and sell them now. Any game with Tremere so far has their blood sorcery treated as a standard power when the old books had dozens of Paths and over a hundred rituals, plus the massive uses of Dominate and Auspex.

If there’s no split of attention by the author then all 3 of those versatile disciplines can get a lot of love and the MC can be trying to collect their own occult library of rituals and Paths, maybe for survival from some threat or maybe to start their own chantry, maybe set up their own base of operations and try to be allies or enemies with certain factions to help expand. Venture into a werewolf Cairn to try and steal a fetish, get caught in a mage’s labyrinth when you break into their office to steal a tome, haggle at or rob an auction with the giovanni involved (Hecatta now I think). It’s definitely up my alley but I’m booked writing something else for a few years.

You already bring out all the corn in me in The Wedding, what with my bakery (Flour Bouquet…Bringing you the world in a crust!) I dare you to write a SoL where we’re a chef!

I’d love to see some urban fantasy that deals with mythology and fantasy of different cultures. Most of urban fantasy is saturated with european folklore (vampires, werewolves, witches/warlocks). Give me some urban fantasy that deals with Chinese deities, or urban fantasy that explores Australian aboriginal mythology in the modern day. Preferably written by people from those cultures.

There’s a Chinese mythology IF on the Hosted Games app, I forget the name though.

Teahouse of the Gods. I had some issues with the way it handled language and it was perhaps a little TOO dense from an outsider perspective, but having gone back to it I enjoyed it for what it was.

No there’s another one. I haven’t read it but I’d assume First year demons would have a Chinese mythology influence given the description. Also looks like a modern setting.

There’s also another one around here as a WIP I remember seeing about a kitsune. (I think it was by the person who wrote the grim and I). From memory it was urban fantasy.

Last dream is has buddhist mythology.

I’m sure there’s more about.

Unfortunately limiting requests to only people of those cultures to write about that mythology/folklore will limit the number of games that could come out, especially as they are already in low numbers.

I would like to see more horror IFs, I don’t think that is a particularly popular genre in the IF community though :disappointed:. Or more sports/slice of life. I have played through CT:OS 4 billion times I LOVE it, I am desperate for more jock camaraderie

I would love some comedy. I think the last time I had a good laugh was…Choice of the Cat. We could use more comedy stories what is with the world going banana and all.

Did you play Top Villain or The Bread Must Rise?

nope.

Frankly I just want more explicitly queer shit. Not just you choose the pronouns ROs get with zero consideration to the relationships that can form (it can be done well e.g. Fallen Hero), not just you picking your pronouns and maybe a choice about being trans (that’s never brought up again), but actually exploring the not-hetero relationships and/or not-cis gender. Want to read shit that acknowledges being a lesbian, the experiences of being trans, the experiences of being GNC, all of it. I know people say “well that’s not what the story is about”, yeah I have Blood Choke for that but nevertheless if you’re offering the options I’d want said options to actually matter, to actually be explored, just to be referenced a couple times even. I adore the vibe of Villain Juice for this very reason. Love it straight up says your gaydar and translocator clocks everyone you just met as a fellow weirdo after you interact with a group. The whole story oozes queerness and it’s so wonderful and comforting.

I wouldn’t say no to some urban fantasy with less popular European folklore either (but maybe that’s just me being European and liking folklore). Like, where are my water spirits? Mountain trolls? Ghosts of abandoned children? Shapeshifters that aren’t werewolves? Sky-protecting frogs? Magic users that differ from standard pop culture format? Dog days monsters? Bird cults?

I think the actual folklore vampires instead of the pop culture interpretations would be cool too.

Or stories around myth? (Those aren’t folklore whatever that is lol right?).

You know, something built around urban legends might be fun too. It’d just have to be one everyone/enough people had and not something super specific to one area/city/region.
