Probably just more development of side characters. Usually the protagonist and the ROs get the most attention, which is as it should be (and tbh I do play mostly for the romance lol), but a well-developed supporting cast adds so much. Just look at Wayhaven Chronicles with Tina, Douglas, Bobby, Verda, the mom, the mayor… adds so much depth to the gameplay.

I always enjoy seeing strong sibling and/or cousin dynamics, especially with big family vibes. You know, a big family can be like its own little political microcosm.

one i find to be really fascinating is the idea of a character who has the sort of stereotypical “bad guy” kind of powers, but are actually a “good guy” like a necromancer who fights against evil, or a demon who would normally be one of the biggest bads of most stories but is actuallly a total pacifist who lives as a monk in the mountains

I recently played a Twine game where eldritch abomination is pretending to be a parent for an abandoned girl. Found the concept really interesting and funny.
What i am trying to say i want to see Non human PC trying to act/pretend to be human. I find it funny.

I am loving the increasing amount of IFs that allow us to be Ariana Grande lmao
And I’m not talking about being a singer—tho those are fun too—I mean, IFs that let you be a homewrecker

Eccentric genius ( they can be an artist or scientist or inventor, or a hacker etc.). Generally - stories where we don’t rely on physical strength. No knights, soldiers, mercenaries.
Wip about Sherlock Holmes is a good example Or the one where MC was creepy doctor (I don’t remember the title).
Folksaga was great, but it’s dead

I’ll go out on a limb (and to extent against the spirit of the thread, perhaps) and fess up that what i really want is characters who are not really archetypes or tropes. By this i mean people who don’t just display one-note behavior dictated by their single defining trait slash one sentence background throughout, and not characters you already know what they’re going to say in any situation, before they even open their mouth.
Some predictability is helpful and natural of course, but when the characters are utterly predictable, that’s where i can’t help but mentally check out.
