when you have to either survive off of your own devices or pay for supplies

Okay, I’ll try to fix it. Give me a moment.

I went in to become a tailor…turns out what I REALLY did was sign on to be a priest. You can’t imagine my levels of “Wait…what.” I was experiencing at the time. Because of this I’m forced to believe there is no such thing as Tailors, and my neighbors are Lycans. They’ll hang at dawn.

This…this could have been avoided.

@Fallingcups lol sorry I do things like that… But seriously, your neighbors are out to get you.
There’s no option to become a tailor when you’re choosing a job. If I decide to add one, I’ll make sure it doesn’t bring you to the priest scene :stuck_out_tongue:

When I try to play on mobli after picking to go to the square itends

@vampierkid222 you are probably using an outdated link. Did you use the one at the start of the thread, or the more recent one?

I used the most recent one

@vampierkid222 Yeah I have no idea I did not get that error. Could you take a screenshot, and give me a link?

Okay, small update. (I’m calling it version 0.4.5.6.2.8.9!!! ) Added a few things.

  • New stats screen: didn’t actually change the core stats, but improved the looks, and some of the names.
  • Fixed bugs: Some in the jobs scene, and some in the square.
  • Small update: Added a few new branches in the jobs scene.

@lackofmops Does the game end at when you decide whether to buy new equipment for your job?

@Kitty9 yes I haven’t got to making that part quite yet. Sorry, I just haven’t been able to find the time to write lately.

@lackofmops Don’t worry about it. What you’re writing is great, please don’t feel rushed.

I added a bit more, might be filled with bugs. (Actually, it definitely is.) I’m ironing them out… I need to learn how to write better choicescript, so they’re not there in the first place. :expressionless:

Wooow this post got larger than I thought it would. Loving the game, though! It’s a very interesting twist to a longstanding concept.

However…onto the errors.

Howdy. When you get to the healer’s hut and say “Help, I’m turning into a werewolf” I got the error:
“line 1020: bad label tempending”

I’m assuming I met an impending death, but still. Disconcerting. =P

As for the overall game, it’d be nice if there was some sort of autosave feature. It’s easy to make one wrong choice and die. And unfortunately, it’s very tedious to go all the way back to where you were before death.

EDIT: If you choose to be a girl, Sam’s pronouns are wrong. Everywhere. Sam changes genders every other screen, it seems. XD

EDITEDIT: Actually, there are a few continuity errors. In the scene where you’re slightly infected, you’ll run around in the woods [if you’ve denied your wolfness]. Good so far, but then for absolutely no reason will break into Mason’s house. lol. D: Even worse, is that the text reads:

"You break in, and squeeze through the window, making it into his room. Suddenly, Mason is right there in front of you. "

So if you didn’t pick “breaking into the house” in a previous run, it’s not clear whose house you’re in or why Mason is in it. Confusing to say the least.

EDITx3[as you can tell I’m playing as we speak]: Running away from Mason error- “line 1223: It is illegal to fall in to an *else statement; you must *goto or *finish before the end of the indented block”

EDITx4: Asking for an apprenticeship from the priest, I get the error:
“line 1402: Non-existent variable 'infected.” Of note is that I was, at the time, a sub-human.

EDITx5: Choosing to remain a hunter, then loaning money in the future for better supplies:
“line 1309: Non-existent variable ‘career_path’”

@CheckeredZebra wow, thanks a lot, that really helps! I’ll get on fixing those right away.

@CheckeredZebra sorry it took me so long… All the bugs you mentioned are fixed… I think. But when I played the game, Sam never gender switched. I wonder why? I’ll look into it, but thanks again for testing.

Nice job with the UI edits.

Oh no problem. That was actually a pretty fast bug fix to me! I know how annoying this stuff can get.

Sam gender switching I’ll look into again, point out specific phrases that you can edit later if it happens again. It’s not nearly as big a problem as all those errors. I’ll go play it again and see if I can find more for you. I find it fun.

okay, HUGE update. Added a lot more, more branches earlier on in the game, and looked into fixing a few more bugs. Thank you all who have helped play and test this game, and I have always looked to your feedback for motivation to keep writing! (even if sometimes I completely mess up)

Okay, going through this again.

Sam’s gender swapping(these options should say “him” instead of “her” as I was a girl):
(choice) “Give her time and let her finish”
(text) You try to stop him, but she leaves anyway.

Why can’t I follow in my mother’s footsteps and try to be a governor if she was one? If I’m lacking stats, I’d find it more interesting to try and apply then fail. xP It doesn’t quite make sense.

Typo: “I HEAD about your mother. You must be going through some hard times right now. And I can sense something good in you.”

Error: line 1582: Non-existent variable ‘career_path’ (Happened after I successfully became a priest apprentice and tried to lift weights. In fact, no matter what apprenticeship I take, I will always error after completing that day)

If you aren’t infected and try to apprentice for a priest by confessing your sins, you get the error “non-existant variable: infected”

Continuity/exploitable loop issue: On the day after becoming the priest’s apprentice, I chose to study → Find something else → experiment → learn about animals, and out of the blue got this text:

"In any event, you have a new expanse of knowledge. You take some notes, and spend hours poring over it. His eyes register shock, but then he looks at you with pity.

“I am sorry, my friend.” He tells you. “And you have nothing to fear from me.” *next slide* “It is our belief that lycanthropy is evil, not the being it infects. But I will pray for you.”

I have no idea who or what any of that is referring to. I definitely missed something. And why is this person praying for me? I’m not infected at all in this scenario.

Suddenly I’m being offered another apprenticeship:

"You then inquire about an apprenticeship. “Why didn’t you just say so?” He asks, leading you away form the confession table. “Come right in.” He leads you into the sacred chamber, where usually only the priest is allowed.

Apparently I’m going to become a priest again. lol. I even get another day off! Which means I can now increase my intelligence infinitely. Interestingly enough, when I decided to break the loop (I had 83% intelligence) I tried to read what I had from home. However, advanced Lycanthrope studies was unavailable. Interesting!

Playing with the glitch: No matter what career you chose before the infinite int. loop, you will always be accepted as a priest. However, it doesn’t change the actual job you hold. In the stats screen, I remained a hunter.

Error: When trying to study Advaced Lycanthropy:
“line 1519: Non-existent command ‘selectable_if’”

Unless I’m mistaken as to what suspicion is actually for…why doesn’t your suspicion go up when you transform in front of/eat the healer? It’d be nice if you could avoid confronting her, because going to a healer’s hut when you A) know what’s wrong with you and B) know there is no cure for it is, bluntly, stupid. I’d think turning before her very eyes yet not killing her should cause suspicion to skyrocket, because she plainly knows you are a werewolf. Meanwhile, eating her would actually make suspicion lower less.

That is, of course, unless the healer is a VERY NICE person who doesn’t share your secret. (A simple text when you next see her: “You freeze, remembering your transformation in the Healer’s Hut. However, to your surprise, she gives you a sympathetic look and a nod. It seems your secret is safe…for now.”
Or maybe she blackmails you. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Really there are a few things you can do with that situation, but the least you could do is raise suspicion as it doesn’t make sense to not increase it/go with the “nice healer” plot stub.

That’s all I found in a few runs. Hope this helps you. Looking forward to what you think of next. :]
