Such Happy Campers by @girlfromthecrypt looks promising. And for completed works, The Passenger and The Fog Knows Your Name had decent horror elements from what I can remember.
I do agree there is a criminal shortage of horror IFs - one of the reasons horror games can be so effective is because of the added immersion of YOU being the one in danger and whose actions have direct consequences rather than a character you’re watching on screen. I don’t know if I could write a full-on horror but I’ve always loved the idea of that one College Humor sketch about a horror movie daycare. I wouldn’t be against making that kind of game: where you can unlock different horror movie antagonists or their kids in the playschool you work at, and try to corral a class of bloodthirsty, evil toddlers.
We need more X is a demand. It sounds negative as it is a way to pushing people to write in a genre or circumstances. That is never positive, as does not bring a sane disscussion. Moreover when there are games of the genre. Asking for a list of genre games and wips. Could be far more positive.
The Porthecrawl Witness (heads up, this one has been dormant for a while…but there’s so much content, I think it’s worth playing anyways. It’s my absolute favorite IF in the world tho so I might be biased :-))
@MahatmaDagon and @Nerrul are great writers when it comes to horror. Ghost simulator, which was written by them, also contains some horror elements, especially when you play the evil ghost.
