and fun was had
1 They get a prank call? How does the conversation go?
Depends. If heâs on the clock, heâll shut it down quickly and politely but with the subtlest of jabs. If not⌠again. Depends. If itâs one of those âclassicâ kinds of prank calls, something like:
Them: âDo you have Prince Albert in a can?â
Oliver: âYes, and thatâs where heâs going to stay if he knows whatâs good for him.â
or
Them: âIs your refrigerator running?â
Oliver: âNot since I kneecapped it, no. And if you donât want the same to happen to you, youâll keep your mouth shut about this whole thing.â
If itâs something a bit more freeform, heâll see where it goes. Practice his improv.
2 Someone walks up to them and starts flirting with them. How do they feel? What do they do?
Oliver: -looks behind as if to see if someoneâs there. If there is, turn back to flirter, smile, thumbs up, mouths âgood luck.â Walks away. If not, get really confused, shrug it off, and walk away.-
or
Oliver: -nods slowly, thinks for a moment, smiles- Iâm digging the energy, but when you actually try this on somebody â and take this with a grain of salt, Iâm no expert â you might want to try doing it this way instead. -notes!- And, shit, break a leg. Iâm hoping you get some action tonight! -walks away-
3 They unlock the door to their home, step inside and see a dead body on the floor? How do they feel? What do they do?
Swallows down the panic that threatens to bubble up and goes detective mode, carefully moves to make sure the person is actually dead without disturbing the scene too much (but disregard this step if their being dead is super obvious), carefully checks his apartment for anything or anyone else suspicious, calls it in.
4 They are out at night and they hear a scream? What do they do?
Really, he should wait and see if any more information presents itself before he makes any rash decisions â it could be nothing, after all, and wouldnât that be silly if he showed up all keyed up and someone was just screaming their happiness? So, he should waiâ
Ha ha, nah. He was sprinting towards the noise the second he registered it was a scream.
5 They ask their friend who their crush is and their friend say âyou.â? How do they respond?
Assuming it came up organically in a conversation, since heâd never ask this sort of thing straight outâŚ
At first, he thinks theyâre joking. Or practicing for when they actually tell their real crush the truth. So he wouldnât completely laugh it off, but he might chuckle a little and say âall right, donât tell me, I shouldnât have askedâ or something. And if they insist that âno, idiot, I truly have these feeling for youâŚâ Heâll get quiet, smile sadly, say something like:
âOh⌠no. You shouldnâtâ Iâm notâ Shit. I meanâŚâ He sighs. âYou are an amazing, wonderful, beautiful person. And thereâs a whole world out there, filled with people who are worthy of someone of your calibre, and one day youâll find one of those people, and theyâll be able to return your feelings, and everything will be⌠perfect. Right? But⌠Iâm not in any way, shape, or form worthy of your friendship, let alone these feelings. And⌠fuck, I canât return your feelings, and Iâm⌠deeply sorry about that. Iâm sorry about all of this.â He gets up and starts to leave. âBut itâs better for you this way. Youâdâve been better off having never gotten to know meâŚbut you know that now.â
BUT!!! IF! The person confessing this crush is the man he has feelings for⌠heâll try to lightly laugh it off at first as above, but panic will be bubbling up. And if he insists that he actually has these feels, Oliver will flip, all like ânonononono, you have no idea what youâre saying. You canât possibly-- Iâm notâ You deserve so muchâ fuck. FUCK.â And then heâll try to escape the situation.
6 They have to cook dinner for their RO? What do they cook?
WellâŚassuming dinner would even be welcome⌠he really shouldnât be allowed in the kitchen. He can just about scramble eggs. But⌠heâd want to try and make ROâs favorite food, but heâd be too worried about royally fucking it up, so heâd just see if takeout is okay. Which heâd feel like shit about because he should be able to cook for his mans, gdi and heâd resolve to learn how to cook properly. Well. If he can make the time for himself to learn.
7 They have got a celebritiesâ number. How do they introduce themselves via text?
ââŚwhy would I bother someone I donât even know like that?â
8 They have been fired. How do they respond?
Heâd been waiting for the other shoe to drop ever since being promoted to detective anywayâ the job should never have gone to him, he was grossly inexperienced, it shouldâve been someone else getting promoted⌠so, in a way? Some very faint sense of vindication â âI was right. Took them long enough to realize their mistake.â Maybe not really expecting to be fired specifically â maybe just busted back down to beat cop â but. This is⌠as much as he deserves. Regardless of what he may have done up to this point.
But. Also. God, heâs lost. Heâs spent all this time building up an identity based on his job â he was nothing without the badge, anyway, and his work was his life â and now thatâs been taken away from him? What do? Not to mention how is he going to afford living⌠and he still has student loans to pay offâŚ
9 They get into fight with their RO. To make things worse, theyâre in the wrong. How do they fix things?
He tries to ignore the voice in his head that whispers âthis is it, this is where he realizes, this is where he leaves you, and heâd be right to do soâ. Because if heâs in the wrong? Heâll own up to it. He might be a bit hesitant trying to intiate the apology, but heâd get over that quickly because this needs to be rectified, damn the consequences.
10 They realise that theyâve fallen in love with their best friend, how do they handle it?
(tbh, heâd never really consider anyone his best friend. Not to be, like, edgy, or anything, but heâd be too surprised by anyone actually considering him a friend, and calling anyone a best friend would feel too presumptuous and like a massive overstep on his part â heâs hesitant to call people friends if they havenât called him one first. So. As realizing what his feels are for a friend?)
Oh. So thatâs what those feelings were. It doesnât matter, though, so heâll keep it to himself.
Because⌠god. This man? That he cares for? That he loves, apparently? Is amazing. And so good. And⌠and. Thereâs no way this man could possibly return these feelings. Because heâs better than that â he wouldnât possibly feel anything like that for some⌠some⌠nothing. He shouldnât. And so⌠itâll hurt. The quieting of a chattering mind in his presence, a thrill of excitement every time he says Oliverâs name, a swelling of the heart and an overwhelming warmth just thinking that this person actually exists. Itâll hurt that heâll never be able to express his feelings out loud, but this isnât about him, and he doesnât deserve to feel this way about anybody â least of all somebody who deserves the world-- but. Just being near this man? Being able to know him, to call him friend? Itâs enough.
âŚitâll have to be enough.
11 They find their old notebook from middle/high school. Whatâs in it? How do they react?
Notes from class. Fidget doodles. Maybe notes for any roles taken. His thought would be: âchrist, my handwritingâs always been this terrible?â
12 They went through an embarrassing phase years ago and someone recently brought it up. What was the phase? How do they react?
Honestly? He wouldnât be embarrassed about any phases he mightâve gone through. Granted, he didnât really⌠branch out, I guess, enough as a kid to really go through any real phases. If that makes sense.
And if someone tried to bring up some thing from his past and make him feel embarrassed about it, heâd be all âwell, Iâm an embarrassment in general anyway, soâŚâ
13 They are about to propose to their significant other. How do they do it?
Lol, no heâs not. He wouldnât realize that marriage was an option for him. And even if he did, heâd not be the one to propose because heâd overthink things and would he even want to marry me anyway? What if this is the thing that gets him to leave? Do I deserve that kind of happiness? How would I even do it? Andâ so on, so forth. And then he wouldnât do the thing.
So. Heâd have to be proposed to.
14 They are about to leave their crushâs house, but before theyâre completely out the door their crush grabs their wrist, saying, âItâs late, why donât you stay the night?â How does your OC answer? Do they end up staying?
If thereâs even an ounce of ~suggestion~ â and if heâs able to process the ~suggestion~ as being directed at him â âNO, I SHOULDNâT, I CANâTâ and then heâll make to bolt. If there is no apparent suggestion â or he misreads it-- heâll consider it, but then heâll shake his head and say âno, thank you, but I wouldnât want to overstay my welcomeâŚâ But if crush presses the issue like âIâd be far too worried about you getting home to be able to sleep properly. Please stayâ then⌠heâd do it.
15 They find a love letter in their mailbox/locker/etc. Do they try to figure out whoâs sending them the love letters? What do they do?
âI think Iâm being mistaken for someone else. Thereâs no way these are meant for me.â But theyâd also present a puzzle â who sent them??? â and his curiosity would get the better of him and heâd have to solve the mystery.
16 They wake up to find that they have switched bodies with another one of your MCs. Whatâs their reaction?
n/a
17 They are given a gift that they donât really want. What do they do with the gift?
ââŚwait, why are you giving me anything?â
18 They impulsively buys a plane ticket. Where do they go?
âI can be impulsive at times, Iâll admit that much, but Iâd never get anything like a plane ticket. And I donât really have anywhere I wanna go⌠and itâs not like I can actually afford a trip in any way, anyway.â
19 They are about to order ice cream; what flavour do they choose? If they ran out of the flavour what do their second choice be?
Regular ice cream shops usually donât carry mochi in any capacity, so thatâs not an option. Bummer
Probably an orange dreamsicle or some wondrous combination of orange sherbet and vanilla ice cream. If thatâs not an option, then a banana milkshake for him, thanks.
20 They are at the library looking for their favourite book. Whatâs the book or whatâs the genre of it?
He doesnât have a single favorite book â there are far too many good books in the world for him to definitively claim a favorite. A Series of Unfortunate Events holds a special place in his heart, but he has the whole series in paperback and on his Kindle, so he wouldnât be looking for any of the books in the library.
As for genre? Anything.
21 They are invited over someoneâs house for a movie marathon. What movie(s) do they bring or what is the genre of it?
âYou wanna whatâŚ? Ooh, movie marathon? Thanks, but. Trust me. You donât want me there, Iâm terrible to watch movies with. But I appreciate the invite!â
22 They have been invited to a fancy event. Do they attend? If so, what does their outfit look like?
Is it a work event, and is he required to attend? If notâŚ
Did the inviter imply â or straight out state-- that his presence would be greatly appreciated and weâd really like you there, please do come? If notâŚ
Then. He ainât going.
If either is âyesâ, then⌠heâll go. He wonât like it, but. Heâll go. And heâll probably rent some ill-fitting tux or blindly grab some suit off the rack. Unless heâs into a dude --whether heâs quite aware heâs into the dude or not â and he knows said dude will be there, then heâll be a bit more cognizant about what heâs gonna look like. And heâll freak out a bit because he doesnât know the first thing about this kind of shit??? But also why am I freaking out, heâs not gonna be looking at me like that anyway???
23 They have just found a bag with a million dollars inside? Do they return it, save it for later, or buy something immediately? If so, what to do they buy? What are they saving it for?
That shitâs going straight back to the person it belongs to.
24 They have a nightmare where they lose everyone they have ever felt close to. How do they react?
Assuming the nightmare doesnât fade directly after wakingâŚ
If itâs a dream that everyone heâs close to decided to drop him like a hot potato, itâd hurt, but that would be right. Wouldnât it?
If itâs a dream where folks died? âNonono, it shouldâve been me, it shouldâve been me, it shouldâveââ* And heâd probably end up in tears. And if he was in a relationship and the dream included the death of his partner and it seemed real enough, heâd panic. If his man was still in bed at the time, Oliver would cling to him. If he wasnât in bed upon Oliver waking, his over-active imagination would kick in ââit happened, hasnât it, heâs gone,ââ and heâd bolt from the bed, calling his mansâs name, and look around and try to confirm or refute the dream. And upon finding his man still alive, still kicking, heâd feel awfully foolish, but heâd still need physical contact to confirm that heâs not just seeing things. Heâd be awfully hesitant to ask for or initiate it, but⌠heâd need it.
25 They see someone sitting alone during lunch. What do they do? Do they talk to them, ignore them, pick on them, or are they the one alone?
Ha ha, heâs the loner. probably by choice.
26 They are locked out of their house, not only that, but the spare key seems to be missing. What do they do?
He knows how to pick a lock, and heâs probably got a lockpick set on him, so⌠heâs good.
27 They are sick and they have no option but to stay home and rest? How do they feel about this? Are they upset or calm?
Heâs probably brought some work home, so he should be okay, but heâd much rather be in the office. And heâs antsy. And âwell, itâs not infectious, right? I can go in for an hour? Iâm gonna go in for an hour.â
28 Itâs their birthday but everyone, including close friends and family, seems to have forgotten? What do they do?
Heâd rather nobody celebrate his birthday anyway, so this is probably the best possible outcome in his eyes.
29 They have a secret hobby. What is it?
In a way, all his hobbies are secrets. Not because heâs ashamed or embarrassed or anything, but that whole ânobody should want to know meâ thing, so he keeps them to himself. Or. Tries to, anyway.
30 They find a genie, and are given three wishes! What do they wish for?
ââŚnah, man. Genies are tricksy little bastard, and even if I WANTED anything from one, I donât want to have to hire a lawyer to go through my wishes and make sure there arenât any points in them that the genie could interpret weirdly. Iâm good, thanks.â
