Way Walkers: University3--suggestions and feedback

Yeah it’s that high Montage making you win everything. XD

That’s my problem them . Every option lets me win pretty much haha.

So I gotta ask because I’m curious (if this isn’t off-topic): do people prefer Jun as a friend or a rival? I will maintain that Sem is my absolute favorite, but I think Leigh really struck gold with Jun because they just change so much depending on your relationship with them.

A friend!Jun is super sweet, and I honestly feel bad for them after all that stuff about their past life comes out…but an enemy!Jun strikes me as a little more…I dunno…unique? It’s not often you can cultivate an antagonistic relationship, and enemy!Jun becomes more irritating and dangerous as the game goes along—it adds personal drama and danger.

As I’ve mentioned before, I feel wayyy too guilty to ever actually be mean in video games, I always play ‘friend to the world’ type people. I’m just pathologically incapable of choosing meaner choices. Whenever I do, I immediately feel the urge to choose a funny option to ease the tension, so my character ends up being some kind of snarky douche, lol

So yeah, I always befriend Jun.

it’s really funny but i’ve noticed a pattern with readers when it comes to Jun that whatever that first play through was is what they tend to revert to. Doesn’t matter how many times i tell them Jun’s really DIFFERENT in the other ones, they insist what they read first is the cannon. it’s honestly very interesting.

Yeah, I’ve noticed that in the people I’ve introduced the game to.

When I asked my friend who rivaled Jun in their first playthrough, she said that seeing Jun be so nice when the MC was nice to her just made her (my friend) hate Jun more because now she seemed “fake.”

By contrast, my brother was more like me, “Jun hates me???” I could tell he was intrigued by the huge change but ultimately very uncomfortable.

Very, very visceral reactions, absolutely fascinating stuff!

I just suppose it’s a testament to your writing ability, isn’t it?

I don’t think i can entirely take credit-- i think it has more to do with people’s psychological need to place things and people into understandable categories, and we attempt to alter those categorizes, it requires an effort on your brains part to change that we tend to rally against.

I merely took advantage.

Mm, that’s very true.
A person’s first playthrough ends up being their baseline for comparing all subsequent playthroughs, and you’re right humans really don’t like changing their opinions even if presented with contradicting evidence, lol.

Clever, clever, @WayWalkerLeigh I may have to steal this if I ever make my own game…

Haha, I actually befriended Jun first, and it just made me hate her MORE when I rivalled her. I took the “neutral” option and it felt like she took it personally that my PC was too distracted and stressed to make friends. Which…not a great first impression, whereas I probably would have been more understanding of her attitude and sad for the lost friendship if I’D started the bitchfest.

I guess I’m just an outlier XD

Tho really, I enjoy her as a character and as both a friend and a rival. Which is again, why I’m curious about other people’s preferences.

Not gonna lie. When at the end of Way Walkers 2 when Sem makes you promise to do whatever has to be done to save Illyan. I thought making a heroic move to sacrifice our character would be a fun choice, rather it’s seen through or not.

I don’t think she’s fake, it’s more like when you are friends it’s the current Jun who is dominant and she’s trying to fight the dreams, and as a rival/enemy it’s the past red follower who is the dominant personality and he controls her the most.

When you confront rival!Jun in 2, why isn’t there an option to go to Xeni if you know about the dreams? I know you and Sem say the evidence for Jun trying to kill you is too circumstantial, but on that path she’s already told you that you can come and talk to her if there’s anything “unusual” in Jun’s behavior. It just seems strange to me that you can’t try asking for a roommate transfer because you’re afraid.

Actually, why hasn’t Xeni noticed that the past-life regression treatments aren’t working anymore? Or is that something that’ll be answered in WW3?

The main reason i didn’t have an option for the MC to go to Xeni directly about room transfer is b/c Semryu himself had already made the offer for the MC to room with him, so it’s bit of a non-issue at that point. And while she does know about the dreams, I felt it was obvious to both the MC and Semryu that they needed hard evidence to confront Xeni with aside from some suspicions about Jun’s behavior, as general grumpiness and death-glares really wouldn’t have been outside the realm of unusual given what Jun’s been going through with the dreams-- which is why they tried to record the confrontation with Jun. There also is a play-out wherein if the MC is too Red but didn’t go to the zoo, in which Jun then attempts to murder the MC that night. (you can die or end up killing Jun, respectively, either is an end-game). Since Jun didn’t try to kill you with the ry’toya because you weren’t at the zoo, the MC would have no reason t go to Xeni for the transfer at that point.

As for the last question-- yes will be answered more thoroughly in WWU3, though the honest answer now is simply that Jun’s past-self is just that damn good at faking it, essp with ppl who are not the MC. Because of the MC’s past-life as Jun’s sister, and the fact that the MC was the one who ultimately killed Jun, the MC is sort of a trigger for evil Jun.

Okay, that all makes sense, thank you! Is there also going to be a confrontation about the PC and Jun’s broken friendship on that path? There kind of was earlier, with the “you were never my friend” thing, but having the Master twist the knife about how the PC could have stopped this if they’d been a better friend or the PC feeling some guilt/sadness would be awesomely painful.

Would be nice to fall asleep cuddling Sem I suppose, but then my main mc has no particular problems with Jun, apart from the fact that he considers Jun inviting his little study group to their room irritating.

Usually I go on the path of best friends with Jun but occasionally when I’m feeling evil I go evil Jun with my MC dating Sem and moving into his room because what he says about that in relation to your relationship cracks me up every time.

@Apocrypha – yes, and actually that will come to light even if the MC and Jun are rivals from day one.

@idonotlikeusernames – there is already a delightful little scene where Semryu insists on being proper and dumps the MC back.into their own bed before it gets too late XD

@Scrivener – Sem has a few more relationship wise cracks in the mix trust me. Some for if yr with him.and others for if yr with someone else. He’s snarky when it comes to dating in general XD

you say that because youre hiding the fact that you are truly montage in disguise.

Sem is one of my favorite characters and RO options this is the best news I’ve heard all day! Is this for WW3 I’m assuming?

Yes, it is. The bed thing is specifically after the birthday party. I’ve also got several spots for the MC to discuss the concept of twin flames with their RO that I’m plotting
