Would being from the Clan lands be a good one?
A ‘past lives’ option set would be cool as well.
Hehehe…
You could always make the “Date Jun” Pack, for $29.95!
Seriously though, this is a cool idea, and I’d happily shell out some extra money to play some of the non-human races.
I wouldn’t mind paying for some extra Sem content myself
.
Not sure about clan lands, as that’d be a pretty gigantic change to the narrative beyond the others, but I’ll consider it.
@zenith8 – how would the past lives pack, work, exactly? I’m just curious.
Basically, it lets you have a variety of 1-3 past-lives that you can pick as a reward for completing the Way-Walkers series. Every past-life gives you bonus options, according to what you did during that time-period…
For example, if you were a studious person it gives you a bonus stat to intelligence, if you were a follower of Red path in a past life, it gives you a bonus stat to pranks, etc…
I would not be against this…
if it were more reasonably priced, obviously.
Oooh, so you remembered the prank I suggested way back when?
If so my mc is so looking forward to finally pranking the prankster.
More Sem content, that’s what I’d really be willing to pay for. As for the non-human races I kind of liked being badass normal, well relatively then cause I understand exemplary talents are still quite rare.
That being said the option for a flashback to a life where my mc was a cool dragon-boy would be nice, particularly if it unlocks or raises a skill that could then be used in the main story.
My mc would rather visit the clan-lands with Sem and meet his family then actually being from them though.
Yes, I would like that, especially if one of the past lives was connected with a past life of Sem, like we already are with Jun.
Though I say it might be best to finish up the base series for our “normal” characters before delving into even more past lives or unusual backgrounds.
That’s not a bad idea, but I don’t think I’d want to have readers pay just for stat bonuses…I’d want them to be able to get a decent amount of actual content along with it. But it’s a thing I’ll ponder
I would also like to note there’s some things I probably won’t do: such as expanding the romance options. I know so many of ya all want to date Jun, but that’s such a mega change to all of the plot I’d need to charge $3.99 for it alone cause it’s be basically a new game. Same for trying to go directly against Semryu; much as I hate killing off everyone with a ry’toya, it’s again almost an entirely new game and I just can’t XD
Of course! It’s one of the scenes I’ve been working on for NaNo-- that and confronting evil Jun early on in the narrative. (Hint it leads to death but in a very horrible/cool way XD)
So, a new game + mechanic, basically? That’s not a terrible idea, and fits in pretty well with the setting, as far as I can tell.
I would not be opposed to this, either.
That said, at least in the first two parts, a Jun romance wouldn’t really be that different from a Jun friendship (aside from having Aycura’s part be diminished slightly), so unless his friend-role in part 3 is ridiculously different from what it was in the first two parts, I’m still not sure why it couldn’t be fit in.
Personally I kinda feel the whole dynamic with Jun is very much friends/siblings? If the only change would have been a few romance scenes/lines it would feel really awkward to me. Especially with your past life connection and sharing a room and the progress of their reveal of their little problem etc’.
Also @WayWalkerLeigh: While I like the idea of races pack, I worry it will be a major case of scope creep, especially with the third game. Many experienced author found themselves writing more to get out of issue created by writing too much, and I’d hate for you to get buried under months of work for an IAP which people will complain about (games like ZE demonstrate that IAP is often resented for not being free content, regardless of how little sense that makes).
That said, what I’d most like to see in that pack (beside Semryu because I am a shameless fangirl) is some moment thinking about home. Maybe we get a care package with stuff unique to our background, or a small scene talking about home with another character from there? (i.e. talking about the difference in weather with Kess during winter, bonding over food you miss with Jun during lunch the first week…).
I back this. A sort of “From Home” small expansion the might be a page or two for a Lubreean, Tazu Nation etc.
When asked by my Angel in the first game whether I miss home or not, I can’t really say I do, as I don’t really know if I would miss it or not!
I love this idea and would happily pay extra for it. I was just wondering what the third race would be, since you only mentioned Tazu and Muilan.
Also, I’m curious what Semryu’s new nicknames for us would be, since you can’t really go around calling us Tazu Watcher when we are a Tazu. I’m thinking Scales. Anyone else have any ideas for Sem’s non-human nicknames
I don’t really see how any of that would be a problem.
After all, we are explicitly not the same as our past lives (well, if it’s good Jun, that is), and we’re certainly not genetically connected in our current lives. I’d be more weirded out by being female than by being his sibling.
And quite a few people go from being good friends to being in love, and I don’t see why helping him with his problem would hinder that.
Would definitely pay for it, ooh, yes, that sounds epic! ^^
Hm, what else…
Being able to pass Cael’s class the first time round.^^;
Having a couple new backgrounds that allow more skills in multiple areas?
Also, having hobbies referenced more often.
@Jackrabbit @ParrotWatcher – I agree with Jackrabbit on Jun. It’d be weird for me for that reason alone-- but the other major issue truly is that the relationship would be very different with the way 3 is playing out… Jun’s Past Self has varying levels of influence on Jun, and Past-Jun HATES the MC. That’s already a big issue in how i’m laying out Jun’s interactions with the MC alone for WW:u3 and adding-in the dynamic of being in a relationship with Jun would also just make it very hard to code. Not to mention, Jun remembers the MC as their sister. And thats just weird. XD
@Ringleader – i’d probably have to combine the from home idea with another pack because it seems a bit small on its own.
@Mim-- passing Cael’s class is a game-breaker XD
My small argument for this is that, with the way the WW universe seems to be set up, with the constant reincarnation and all, wouldn’t it be theoretically possible that everyone already knows everyone else because of the spirit-knows-how-many past lives people have had? I mean, who knows. It’s possible that Sem was the MC’s mum in some past life, way back when. I’m not sure if having a past relationship like that would be grounds for locking off a possible romance in a setting like this.
Granted, the fact that the familial relationship is still fairly recent for Jun and the MC, I could see the counterargument for it still being weird. I’unno. Just food for thought.
