Aww…so is Ilyan Sem’s twin flame then?
In any case if we’re in a relationship with Sem and we ever meet his twin flame It’d be awkward.
Oh goodness no. Lol when lush comes to shove, sems loyalty to the MC trumps his care for Illyan. If she were hus twinflame, that wouldn’t go down.
Unbelievably awkward. XD
The Lu’shun race sound interesting. Almost as much as Clan.
Omg I have been looking for forever, could anyone kindly explain what is “twinflame”? Did I miss some lore somewhere?
From Wikipedia:
A Twin flame is a spiritual (esoteric or New Age) concept describing a special soul connection between two souls. The twin flames are thought to be a template for an ancient/eternal type of relationship between lovers of any and all races or genders .
You know I think it’s be kinda cool drama wise if in WWU:3 you’re MC’s TwinFlame shows up (could probably do a short creation/description choices) and then watch the drama unfold as your twinflame and current relationship go at it.
Or if you’re single just shelf out a free relationship.
Honestly if WW:U weren’t already complicated as heck with the social stuff, it’d be really cool to do. But as it is, i think it’ll get shelved for another Way of game. (probably Way of Relationships, should i ever be inclined to write that one after Way of The Red and the like, two more i’ve got in my brain. >.<)
Bought Way Walkers 1 & 2 yesterday and have been playing both until I reached an end in Way Walkers 2 today, so I wanted to drop in and say that I’m very much looking forward to the sequel - and congratulate you, WayWalkerLeigh, on having created two such good works!
.
As it is though, I’m still mulling over things over regarding the first and second, so I have no suggestions I can think of to contribute with for now though
I’ll probably be dropping some comments in this thread now and then though
Yes, there are. You’ll see some of them in the sequel to tangled paths-- tazu saga book 2
My only request is more ways to increase abilities. I just felt like a one trick pony most of the time. I enjoyed both games so much so that I have played through multiple times and that was my only gripe. Then again I could have just not found any.
The tough one with increasing Abilities is I have to walk a fine line of “you are a 14 yr old in a school for the first year”. So, its difficult to have players gain crazy powers as they go-- it’d be an unrealistic progression. Its something I hope to remedy in Way of the Red.
The issuse of balancing is a good one to keep in mind - but then again, I think it’s also worth to bear in mind that there’s no less than twelve different ways/meters here, so making it possible to do some serious increases in more than one or two of them should be possible. The way things are in Way Walkers 1 & 2, it’s seems doable enough to increase one or two meters high enough that it has an effects on things during gameplay, with maybe a third trailing maybe 15-20 points or so behind those - the character I took though Way Walkers 1 & 2 had fairly high Montage & Rosin as well a little over 30 Kubesh, though how much that last one actually helped is anyone’s guess… I suppose you could argue that the 25% in each Way we start over with is already not exactly common (uncommon, but not super-rare is how it is if I’ve understood it correctly), but I’m not sure if the game conveys this correctly; after all, if one of the meters remains at only 25%, or just one or two more percent than that, it won’t be of much help to us.
I’m not saying we should be able to climb very high in each stats/meter/way - nor that we should be TOO encouraged to go for a jack of all trades - but as it is, it kind of feels like the game(s) give you little other choice but to specialize in one or maybe two paths/stats, otherwise we’re screwed… As 45jordan78 says, it’d just be nice to not feel like a kind of one-trick pony, that’s all
.
I realize it’s a difficult balancing issue - I do notice we seem to get very few opportunities for big increases in our stats/meters/ways in Way Walkers 2 and I would guess this is because you’re keeping Way Walkers 3 in mind - you want to avoid the players becoming too powerful/filling out a single meter completely. Good thinking, but it also forces the players to specialize, which is perhaps not so good a thing…
Maybe you’re thinking about the issuse the wrong way though - you’re thinking about it all as ‘power’, when it might be easier to think about it all as, say, school subjects instead, for example - most people don’t end up specalizing in one or two subjects (that would probably end up under Crippling Overspecialization after all), but are very good with some subjects, good with others, and average or worse with the rest. Might be better to allow for that kind of formula than the ‘excellent at one or two things, unhelpfully average as far as the rest goes’ formula that Way Walkers seem to follow as things are…
In the end it comes down to what I have time to do-- to make these changes, we’re talking g revamping the stats of the entire three games. Its a lot of work. Honestly, I don’t have the stamina for it.
Yeah, I know that it’s probably too great a change to implement at this late stage
. It’s something to consider for future games though
hence why i said i was going to remedy it in Way of the Red.
You could use a potential attribute. Obviously not in WWU, but in your next games. Ask a few questions to measure the potential of the character. This attribute could measure how much of an increase a character receives or loses for making their decisions. Just kinda spitballing some ideas as they come to me.
Um, I’m sorry that’s just not meshing with me. We already have the Montage stat after all. Anyways MJ and I have already revamped the stats for way of the Red and we’re pretty happy with how they are.
Playing with the subtleties of the romance relationships in WW:U3, and
i’m wondering: what do you guys want as an ‘end goal’ in your
relationships with yr respective romance-ables? (Sem, Kess, Umbrave and Shelly) Do you want to simply survive the quest to save illyan and stay together? Do you want to grow
closer? maybe reach that ‘going steady’ phase? Confess the mighty
L-word? Keep in mind you guys are playing as 14-15 yr olds, respectively, but i want to know what you all think.
After the last battle/boss battle/thingamajigy cut 5 years ahead and show us marrying our love interest. If you really want to go in depth, cut ahead another 10 years and show our kids.
