Anybody else just thinking about becoming evil Aquaman in this game?
I liked this! I really want to know how romancing Peter would go, especially if you manipulate him. I’m exccited to see where this goes!
Hey! Demo update! RAHH!
(That’s 58k words total, btw. About 28k more than the original 30k or so.)
What's in this update?
An awkward dinner. An illicit phone call. Finally, you take a shower.
And if you didn’t catch the last update (which was small, so I didn’t pub it) you can also look forward to THEIVING and COMBAT!
What's coming up next?
I’m putting together a chapter interlude, which will be a very short little story switching perspectives & elaborating on the scope of the hero vs. villain conflict. It’ll also introduce our big bads, who we haven’t yet seen!
After that comes chapter 2, which is when the reeeall branching begins. You’ll finally learn what exactly is up with Hyde, and you’ll get to start doing missions, which are the real meat of the game. Most following chapters will offer a choice between assorted supervillain shit to do- think heists, assassinations, brawls with various heroes, undercover assignments, all that good stuff.
Whichever mission you don’t pick will not repeat in later chapters to increase replayability. I’m also hoping to let you choose who to take with you into the field, which can change the events and outcome.
This’ll take a lot of words, but I must be some kind of masochist because I’m sort of excited to crack into that. I
branching!!!
I cant seem to get by the search bar
You’ve hit a puzzle! Hints & optional solution here.
The search bar doesn’t seem to be working? It worked before the update.
You’re completely correct, whoops! Fixed!
My bad also to @AshenCat for the temporarily unsolvable puzzle
Thanks for the quick fix ![]()
Hello,
I may have stumbled upon another bug. After showering with Peter I used the computer. When I try to power down I get the SETTINGS menu instead, essentially soft-locking me in the computer section without any way of continuing.
Bugs aside, great demo so far!
Thx for the heads up!!
Fixed for real this time, like for real for real. swear
I’m so glad to see an update!
I forgot the name of this story, but it’s my favourite from the past year! So excited to rediscover it and that you updated. I’m off to read, yaye!
(I also love writing branches <3)
Can’t wait to turn Reney to the dark side
I love the concept of the game and the varied options for the MC’s powers. I’ve been replaying and trying different combinations and it’s been fun seeing the differences. It will certainly be difficult to choose a single one for my main run since both the cyborg and genoid options are pretty interesting.
(I also really like Peter and his novelty ties and I can’t wait to know more about him lol)
some small bugs
If you don’t go to the floor where Dr. Moreau is the first time you enter the elevator Thinking back it only happens if you’re a genoid, regardless if you was there before, actually. In this case neither MC or Peter will tell her the MC’s name while meeting her.
R’s name didn’t appear.
These ones should be capitalized:
Picked claws, regeneration and eagle vision. So I guess I’m a Temu Sabertooth.
Liked the dynamics so far, I’ll probably enjoy messing with our little would be hero the most.
Thank u for bugspotting!!!
I’ll go in and sand these over. (Edit: fixed! The missing introduction was because of a misplaced *goto. Genoids now get their proper introduction to Dr. Moreau.)
A goal of mine is to make the game really replayable, so you should be able to do one run as a genoid and another as a cyborg and have very unique playthroughs! Especially when the mission system is introduced, the chapters will look super different depending on which assignment you choose.
Laughed.
Cyborg MCs who pick the blade-hands could probably likewise make themselves into a Walmart Wolverine
Just curious what everyone’s favorite cyborg enhancements are. The thought of my MC having the thermal senses and ultra-flexibility and just spinning his head around when someone tries to sneak up on him is awesome lol.
A question regarding being a cyborg. Later down the line would we be capable of adding another of the 9 beginning modifications? My thinking was we could forego upgrading one of our beginning 3 modifications to something stronger in exchange. For example, I choose ultra-flexibility, camera eyes, and knockout gas in the beginning. Whenever I get the option to upgrade these 3 I could choose to upgrade camera eyes and knockout gas but skip flexibility to also add the spine-computer-thing.
Sorry to disappoint! But unfortunately the initial 9 modifications won’t come up again as you “upgrade”, just because of the way I’ve coded them in. They all go in a specific slot (called like cyborg1 or cyborg2 etc) and they can’t overlap with other things that fit within the same slot (like say, the camera eyes and the knife hands).
It’s been long enough that I have no idea why I coded it this way, but it’s so ingrained in the way I write combat that I can’t go back and revise it
. I promise the upgrades down the line will be equally interesting, though!
