Vendetta (WIP) (Chapter 6 Part 3 Updated on 7th November 2023) [325.3K Words Total])

This guy is a hypocrite. Talking about my PC inheriting some of his father’s morals, then talking about him killing PC father as a necessity. Can’t wait for when my PC eventually meet him, it’s gonna be brutal @jsc really did a good job in portraying them though. They have a depth to them

I’m definitely siccing my hellhounds on him to give him a very, very slow death if I can. I’m sure my MC who has a fascination with torture has ways to use her hounds to keep him alive long enough to prolong his torment. Even if he does somehow makes it out of it, he’s not leaving with his limbs intact… He’s even more hypocritical than the police commissioner.
How did he expect an orphaned MC to end up? That we would somehow embody some heroic morals all of a sudden? No, this is real life (at least in the game). It would be more strange if our MC didn’t want bloody vengeance.

would be nice if you set a blur on it some wont like it to get a spoiler

Is a civillian playthrough still being planned or nah?

This game feels like it should have a sanity stat or something like how far are you willing to become physically, mentally and emotionally unstable to achieve your goal and would it even be worth it if that’s the consequences you have to live with afterwards?

Not really fan of sanity stat in general but especially about this WIP I will have to disagree with your idea, I want to play as a callous psychopath who kills people without any remorse, sanity stat would limit the player.

I can see why isn’t everyone’s cup of tea especially since as you said it would limit people who would want to play as a psychopath killer.

Bit hard to implement too.

It might be hard to implement, I wouldn’t know tbh. I don’t think it would be limiting though, I think of it like when you can keep making choices from the beginning that points towards the mc’s mental instability, a lowered sanity stat would reflect that so that would be in character for a psychopath mc. Then when you would make big and pretty unethical choices down the line without feeling guilty at all, it would be the, er, payoff.

Obviously, you might not want to do literally every little crazy choice from the beginning. That would be limiting. Would have to do a check eventually to see if you’re crazy enough and that sounds like quite a bit of additional work so I dunno. At least it’s a fun idea and the mc’s background is enough to lay the groundwork so it’s up to the author to decide.

Well that mental insanity won’t work for a mc like this, considering they are basically

  1. rich

  2. got a loving family even a uncle that will basically ruin anyone that messes with the mc

  3. literally started a harem :smirk: like the moment I was just trying to navigate among the ros to figure out who I like, and don’t you know it, mc got trapped into a love pentagon

  4. and lastly the mc got the free option to be and do whatever they want

So yeah sanity stat is completely ineffective and won’t actually work unless the mc had a really complicated or messed up life and from what I have seen of the mc the only time that a sanity stat might work in the game is if maybe the sanity stat is implemented like this, like for a example if u make the mc start out as a hero/vigilante that save lives but end up killing a innocent due to be influenced by a superpower or a villain/circumstances made them to choose to save one out of two innocents in danger and for civilian route u get decrease in sanity by witnessing a death of your family for not helping them when they needed you or for deciding to distance yourself from your family mafia life and for mafia route you get a decrease in sanity by causing harm to those you just wanna see in pain

You make some good points that the mc has a lot going for them so they should be able to find happiness doing something they love but does that really detract from the trauma they experienced as a kid? They get reccuring vivid nightmares that get more intense the closer the date of the anniversary of their father’s death, probably the most important person of their life at the time on the same day they discover how their mother feels about them, coinciding with their birthday as well.

There’s no way they haven’t gotten therapy for it even if it’s not mentioned but if their uncle who loves them unconditionally slight spoilers for latest update

Summary

suffers from survivor’s guilt and is heavily insecure about how well they’ve raised the mc

, who’s to say they really healed in that time when they were just a kid? It’s not like they’ve let go since a core aspect of the game is their promise to either get Justice or Vengeance for their father’s death, both of which can be quite twisted depending on the mc’s view of them.

At present, a lot of shit is going on what with the uprising of a terrorist group whose spokeperson is the same as the one who killed their dad and called them out specifically, their mom who is the next target coming to ask for help(out of genuine fear for their lives, a means to reconnect and possibly manipulate the mc into forgiving them to assuage their guilt or a mix of all that), their uncle and grandather wanting to support the mc in whatever path they want to take but simultaneously hoping they become the next head of their crime family, and other stuff that I’m probably forgetting. Safe to say, I think the mc would be feeling quite a bit of pressure with everything put together and if they were not alright even before all of it and they don’t necessarily want to be alright, well…

Now, having said all of this, you’re right that it’s not very feasible to implement with all the different paths you can take, I can only wonder how damn complicated it would be. At least I think there’s room to imagine in our own headcanon what dark road the mc would tread if given the chance.

Who knows :woman_shrugging: maybe the author might address the sanity of the mc but for now we just gotta wait considering there are still more chapters to make

Damn, it looks a bit silly when that part is quoted without the headcanon part
And yeah, we still have a ways to go for the story so patience is key.

Ohhh sorry  about that, some years commenting in YouTube and talking in choice of game forums I have made me to form jokes on the sly out of nowhere

Don’t worry about it, I’m not very familiar with making comments so it was bound to happen that something I wrote would look confusing out of context.

If an mc follows the mafia route, wouldn’t it limit them if a sanity stat is present. Same goes with the vigilante route.

But would a psychopath not have low sanity?

Just so we are more on the same page, how do we think a sanity stat would potentially be limiting?

Technically I think yes… especially when you look up psychopath and read some different information to do with it.

@Chomper

I think if you’re someone who wants to play as MC who doesn’t feel empathy or remorse and isn’t affected by the stuff they do and see a sanity stat wouldn’t really allow for that because in other games a sanity stat is affected by how your MC reacts to bad stuff like having nightmares or doing something bad and the guilt slowly eating away at you.

And if a sanity stat worked like that in this game it would mean that your MC would pay the consequences and couldn’t do something really bad and just go on with their day like nothing had happened and that’s the reason some people say that stat would limit them because they want MC who could kill someone and go on with their life being fine.

In my opinion, a “sanity” stat would change the very nature of this game and turn it into something else.
